What does that mean? No more CEOs or no more AI insurance assessment?
Could it mean this?
A class action lawsuit filed last year in US District Court in Minnesota argued that UnitedHealthcare uses AI “in place of real medical professionals to wrongfully deny elderly patients care,” according to the complaint. More than 90% of the denials are reversed through an internal appeal or proceedings before federal administrative law judges, the suit alleges.

This may have already been discussed in here post-arrest, but has there been anything further disclosed about his being on camera and on a phone call just prior to the killing? I wonder who he was talking to.

9 New Details of Luigi Mangione's Life Inside Pennsylvania Jail

I did not get this interstate agreement on detainers, does it mean he will serve the first part of the sentence in Pennsylvania and then the other part in New York state, or because the crime committed in NYC is much more serious all of those years will be ''merged'' so to speak and he will be in prison in the same state all the time?

Watching this video and the pictures shown in it, it's unbelievable this boy became a murderer. He looks so normal. He reminds me of some of my former students in Parma, even the outburst outside the courthouse. It makes me wonder if sometime during those months he went completely ''under the radar'', he had a mental breakdown he sought no medical help for and that caused permanent damage to his cognitive abilities. That considerable weight loss is also very strange.
I guess psychologists & psychiatrists in the Altoona jail are looking into that.

Jmoo.

Trump is saying the govt will knock out middlemen like UHC:

Maybe LM’s manifesto had an impact after all.

If you read this carefully, it’s the pharmaceutical middleman being talked about - not the insurance companies

“Pharmacy benefit managers negotiate drug costs with pharmacies and drug manufacturers and help build drug coverage lists for health plans, mostly on behalf of employers and the government. They directly reimburse pharmacies for prescription drugs included under their agreed terms.”

Bbm.
Regarding the bolded : I concur. ^^^

Also, trying to catch up.
Life has been hectic lately.
Didn't LM change his mind about waiving extradition ?

Can't UH see there is a problem ?
This goes way back, and long before Brian's murder.

Not that I have heard, I'm also wondering what he placed on the garbage?

I know!!! and I will never find it now, but Im sure I read that Luigi wanted to study AI or did atudy AI, and had strong opinions on the Insurance companies using this method to assess claim eligibility.
Quick Look for a link :
According to posts he retweeted in 2022, Mangione was initially swept up in the growing excitement surrounding new AI technologies, like OpenAI's ChatGPT and image generators like Dall-E, but has since appeared annoyed by tweets that were generated by an AI.

Whether he was clued into the algorithms being used by UnitedHealth to deny healthcare coverage for elderly patients, however, remains unclear.

It's in his Linked In. @Seattle1 has an archived version. Apparently he specialized in it.

If LM was harboring anger-- is it even about his back? I think not!

On Saturday, Feb 29, 2020, at nursing home in Kirkland, WA-- located across the lake from Seattle, the first COVID19 outbreak in the U.S. was confirmed. By early April, the Pacific Northwest was in total lockdown-- children could have probably played safely on the freeway. WA State Emergency Guidelines imposed by the Governor were in effect from Feb 29, 2020 to Oct 31, 2022, and in comparison to other areas, were strictly enforced.

That said, this two year period 2020-2022, seemingly had a tremendous impact on the high school upper classmen (juniors & seniors) who missed every celebrated right of passage, and all college grades in general, who struggled both socially and academically.

From LM's LinkedIn Resume (attached), he was wrapping up at UPenn May 2020, and cites his start date at True Car, Inc (Data Engineer I) as Nov 2020.

Unlike his 2016 HS Valedictorian Speech and Honors, good chance LM's May 2020 University graduation ceremony was canceled.

Again, taking note LM's first proper job post university graduation where he advances to Data Engineer III takes place during the isolation of the global pandemic, working not from Santa Monica, CA but employed remotely. (Having experienced the typical recruitment and relocation for my first job after graduation, I'd be absolutely shattered at this remote work experience).

While we know that True Car, Inc publicly announced its corporate restructuring and reduction of workforce in June 2023-- which very likely could have been pandemic related, I think we'd be remiss not to question if the golden boy may have taken it to heart that his measured improvements to True Car's performance metrics failed to save his job or deter the layoffs of his division (see resume --performance).

What changed for LM?

Did LM burn out working remotely -- missed the entry level mentoring and ego boost environment one needs to keep energized and interested?

Or was LM dealing with imposter syndrome -- now being offered interactive, live work where he'd no longer be able to hide out at home. Weren't the Honolulu digs somewhat an extension of the Frat house he left behind at UPenn?

And who doesn't have a friend that's allergic to gainful employment!

Did LM actually need surgery, or did he feign symptoms to advance surgery to avoid work?

I'm beginning to question whether if not for having money and opportunity, LM might have just been just been living the life of the Trump shooter, Thomas Crooks (who also scored 1530 on his SAT). Intelligent but very selfish and stupid. MOO

State of Emergency - COVID 2020-2022

Bumping my earlier post with LM's LinkedIn Resume attached for reference...

ETA: Guess attachments don't forward so click top of quoted post to go to the original post #437 to see attachment.

Nothing intelligent about how the alleged killer acted. Arrived in NY days before the murder leaving a trail of CCTV, forensic and eye-witness evidence in the general area of the crime. Shot Brian at close range in full view of a camera. Had no contingency or escape plan.

Given the target was a company rather than any particular individual, he could have chosen from a large group of potential victims. He could have targeted someone in a less populated area free of CCTV cameras. He could then have shot at long range, like the DC sniper who almost got away with it.

He is definitely not a mastermind. His university degrees are easily obtained by any kid with rich parents to pay for the best tuition.

Eliminating machine assessment of people's health insurance applications is a good idea. Machines need more learning to get it right. The app is premature.

“Pharmacy benefit managers negotiate drug costs with pharmacies and drug manufacturers and help build drug coverage lists for health plans, mostly on behalf of employers and the government. They directly reimburse pharmacies for prescription drugs included under their agreed terms.”
That's how opiates ended up everywhere - compensating pharmacies for distributing specific prescription drugs.

I’d be very interested in talking to the late Grandma Mangione.

What did she see/sense in the family dynamics that others missed??

Perhaps she noticed ‘the darkness’ and knew something was wrong.

Not a mastermind, but he wanted to be a game designer. I believe he expected to get away with the murder.

Why did he change the words in the book?
The book: “delay, deny, defend”
He wrote: "deny", "defend", "depose"

We have monopoly money in a backpack that was not hidden, but was not easily found. Two failed sweeps then, who found it?

Then police went on a mad hunt in the water for the weapon. Why? ... because some weapons are thrown in water, but the backpack is left in plain sight? Not terribly logical. Weapon was found on the suspect.

It seemed like a mockery of the murder and search for a suspect: escaping on a pre-planned e-bike, vanishing bike, taxi and again vanishing into the Port Authority transit area. He's not the average criminal. He seems to treat the murder and getaway like a game, which led me to think that he has a sense of humour.

It this a nice sense of humour, or is this arrogant mockery?

It's a very unusual clause to include in a Will - that any beneficiary who is indicted for criminal activity is excluded from the Will. Was there some financial monkey-business with siblings and estate distribution?

Did the Will also state that descendants of Will beneficiaries can nullify their parent's interest in the estate if they are indicted for criminal activity? If so, Mangione just wiped out his parents' inheritance.

Luigi Mangione's friend said that he always had a darkness about him. That sounds like a longterm friend who saw something that made him uncomfortable - but that's pure speculation. I keep a cautious distance if I meet a friend who has a "darkness".

To shoot a complete stranger in the back because Mangione was on a "Mission" to make a "statement" with his unibomber-inspired "manifesto"? That sounds sociopathic.

He had no empathy for his victim. His mission holds a strong prejudice against the health insurance industry, so he used extreme violence to randomly eliminate that perceived threat. He believes that he understands a higher order, and he retaliates to restore injustice.

I think he has hate-related psychological illness that make him dangerous for the rest of his life.
