NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #12 *Arrest*

Brian Thompson was assassinated in cold blood, probably not due to popularity issues.

All these questions will be answered in a court of law.

Agreed. I think his killing was targeted because he was a CEO, and that Mangione wanted Infamy.

Yes.

It had nothing to do with improving the health insurance business, IMO, either.

I wish people would realize this and not think of it as an altruistic act.

It was not. MOO

Just killing a CEO. In cold blood.

And it had zero effect on changing UHC's policies, and Mangione didn't even HAVE a connection to UHC. So not even a disgruntled client.

so that means he had abslutly no motie to comit the crime

No, it means his sole motive was Infamy- since he had no connection to UHC. No reason to choose that CEO over another. Just like the killers of John Lennon, and Gianni Versace.

That may be true or not, but that was for the SEC/Feds to investigate.

The point is not that, the point is that LM, a random citizen, decided Brian Thompson should die by his hand in the name of an 'Anti Capitalism' protest .

It's a very egotistical and disordered mind that even thinks that way. His own family immigrated to the US and started very successful health related nursing homes, among other things, amassing great wealth, which Luigi himself reaped the rewards of. The finest Ivy League school education, ability to travel the globe, top of the line clothing, essential and luxury items. He was not a 'poor disenfranchised' young person.

Nick Mangione Sr and his wife, garnered local love by being renowned philanthropists, too, donating more than $1 million to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where all of their 37 grandkids were born — prompting the facility to name its obstetrics unit after the family, the outlet said.

The Mangione Family Foundation also has made hefty donations to such places as the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the St. Joseph Medical Center at the University of Maryland.

Inside Luigi Mangione’s extremely wealthy family that’s been dubbed ‘beloved’ Baltimore royalty: ‘It’s a shock for all of us’

i have yet to see the slightist bit of evdence lm did anything other than be in the wrong mcdonalds at the wrong time

false ID and ghost gun in his possession at the McDonalds are damning enough evidence that his attorneys want it thrown out. 🤷‍♀️ Fingerprints found at/near the scene match LM's. 🤷‍♀️ The shell casings match the ghost gun. 🤷‍♀️

There are plenty who feel there is sufficient evidence to try Mr. Mangione, including the members of the grand jury who indicted him.

the only opinions that matter at this point are those of a jury when LM reaches trial.

its yet to be established that are his fingerprints and even if they are what do they prove that he had a drink of water in newyork at some point?

i dont buy the false id claim Why would he show them a false id then tell them hes real name

Maybe the killing was a backlash against his family. I recall he had no communication with him for some time previous to the killing.

im not sure why a 26 year old not keeping regular contact with his family is a police matter

If the family reported him missing, or asked LE to do a wellness-check it would be.

We'll find out more when it comes time for his trial.

I agree.

I'm going to add that Mr. Thompson was not (in)famous outside his family and social circle, but he was prominent in his field.

Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon because he was famous and people admired him. Chapman was jealous of Lennon’s popularity, talent and success. Chapman was a loser without talent who fancied himself more talented than Lennon.

Andrew Cunanan was similar to Chapman in that he also wanted to be wealthy and famous without having to exert any effort or develop talent. He was also jealous of the people he killed .

Both killers were prolific liars who pretended to have more money and material wealth than others. Chapman pretended to be a wealthy art collector. Both were often in debt to other people. Neither had met any goals related to education or career development.

OTOH, Mangione was someone who had wealth of his own, but lived somewhat frugally. He completed a quality education, with honors and accomplishments and worked hard at his career in spite of his poor health.

Unlike Chapman and Cunanan, he had no aspirations to be like his victim. He wasn’t jealous of Thompson’s talents, but felt he was using his skills to harm innocent people. Mangione didn’t aspire to work for the insurance industry. He had friends and colleagues and was respected and liked by his peers.

Lucas Mangione had nothing in common with Chapman or Cunanan. The motives behind the murders they committed were different.
