Sorry but I disagree.

Millions of security cameras, which is true that we have here in the city, translates into the NYPD having to go through ALL that footage, frame by frame, to try to find the suspect as he travels through the city.

I think there is no better police force than our NYPD, but they are not endowed with superpowers. Their institutional knowledge and whatever high tech is at their disposal have already done an enormous job of tracing his actions.

Of course it won’t matter unless and until the suspect is apprehended.

But nine million of us live here, in addition to the countless tourists, and endless ways to travel in and around here.

IMO the police have done a Herculean job so far, tracing one nameless individual among the millions of us and gathering as much as they have to this point.

Yeah - stunned by how much ground they’ve covered, and evidence they’ve uncovered, in such a short amount of time,

Couldn't agree more with you, Arkay.

NYPD, the best in the world.

And they do a great job under trying circumstances, long hours, and a lot of political pressure. It is the MOST STRESSFUL CAREER ever. They dot their i's and cross their t's.

Their investigative work is unparalleled.

This crime will be solved.

What is particularly intriguing about this case is that the motives range from garden variety/divorce/hit for money to foreign influence campaign by Russia to destabilize democracy via uprising against the elites. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if either of these is the motive. I do think he had and accomplice and honestly regarding his looks, he gives off Andrew Cunanan vibes, though if this were a psychosexual murder I WOULD be surprised.
Because of the words inscribed on the shell casings, I would be interested in looking for an individual who has lost a loved one because of a possible UHC pharmacological or procedural denial resulting in death or severe disability.

NYT
"Joseph Kenny, the chief detective, said that investigators are looking into the possibility that the gunman used what’s known as a veterinary gun, a larger firearm used on farms and ranches. “If an animal has to get put down, the animal can be shot without” the weapon causing a large noise, Kenny said."

His own gun? Family owned farm or vet practice?
I know it has been talked about how it was a veterinary gun, but never crossed my mind that this guy's family might have a family ranch/farm. That is a decent angle. Will be interesting when we find out.

He didn't need an ID for the bus trip. I think he was spotted on video at the main NYC bus terminal arriving on a bus that originated in Atlanta, but had several en route stops. It's not clear yet where he got on the bus. Similarly, he is on video walking into a different bus terminal on his departure from NYC.
You do need ID for a bus trip. But if he has one fake ID, that already worked, surely he has others for other states (that wouldn’t raise as much suspicion at the moment…

In @Stargazer's original post, which is what I was replying, to, he was referring to the suspect looking suspicious in New York City because he was wearing a mask. I pointed out, as a native New Yorker, that mask-wearing is still not uncommon here, even post-Pandemic.
I'm aware that in other parts of the country mask-wearing is now a rarity and would be looked upon as odd or suspicious, but those places are not where Brian Thompson's murder took place, and as such are irrelevant to discussions of how out-of-place -or not- the suspect would look here.
Also, a balaclava covers the entire head, like a ski mask. The suspect may have been wearing a pulled-up neck gaiter rather than a surgical mask, but even so the temperatures in NYC were so cold last week that that wouldn't have stood out either.

Born and bred New Yorker here and I still wear a mask.

It’s been a long and painful nearly five years, but I’ve never had Covid and I’m trying to keep it that way.

Totally agree that there is a “live and let live” mentality here.

One reason I stay masked is because I have to constantly fly to Florida to take care of my sick and elderly parents. No one wears a mask there and they haven’t since the beginning, so anyone wearing a mask there would indeed be conspicuous.

No one would think anything suspicious at all with the suspect wearing a mask here.

It might be somewhat strange to eat with a mask, but I’ve seen it done, and in the laidback environment of a hostel no one would care.

It seems counterintuitive for the killer (who planned the assassination) chose NYC for the spot rather than Maple Grove, MN where BT lived. Maple Grove is around 70K population, and likely, not nearly as many security cameras to record his actions.

So, why go to NYC? To throw the authorities off?

What?
Goes back to my theory BT set up his own murder. Wanted NYC so his family won't see anything.

I saw this amount stated in a previous thread when the weapon was discussed.
I have no idea.
The $5700 price tag came from me, in my post #814.

The veterinary model is this one:

Agree -- I don't think it's a disgruntled ex-employee.

There are over 4000 posts on this site about this fast-moving case. I strongly encourage new members to read one of the MSM live update threads.

This case is moving so quickly that any MSM posts that are more than a couple hours old have been posted, dissected, and possibly debunked.

Depends where you live. I live a close Chicago suburb, and along with me and my kids (we have long Covid and autoimmune issues), there is usually at least one other person in any given store we are in who is masking too. Today I was out running errands and noticed a big increase in mask wearing since Thanksgiving--and people of all ages from teenagers to elderly.
Very true. Plus, it's quite cold in a lot of places this time of year.

IF he hired his own hit man, I'm not sure the hitman would need to arrive 10 days early and wait around for him. I would think it would be much easier to just arrive and take him out (if he did hire someone to do it, why not provide them with the info they needed to make it happen as easy as possible).

the type of gun seems to be b&t vp9 - brugger thomett - veterinary pistol 9(mm). i mentioned earlier, but think it's interesting, they had an ad that said it "won't wake the neighbours". i guess that may be useful in a situation like this.

I didn't think this up myself but just think about it.

He bought a bottle of water at Starbucks before the shooting. But in the pictures of the shooting, there is no water bottle to be seen.

So where was the water bottle?

The obvious answer was zipped into the backpack, but then if so, how did it get out of the backpack and onto the ground where it was found?

If it was mostly empty when found, maybe the killer accidentally knocked it out of the backpack when he was putting the gun back in the backpack (assuming that's where the gun is).

But if was even 1/3 full when found, the above scenario would be very much less likely.
The Peak Design Everyday backpack has external waterbottle pockets on each side, so it could fall/pop out quite easily. From experience (with different backpacks,) it can happen when either readjusting the straps and weight distribution on your shoulder/shoulders if the backpack has shifted a little on your back, or when going from one to two shoulders or vice versa, either or both of which he may well have done before getting on the ebike.
