I soooo want to hear from the flirty hostel clerk. We will eventually. But so curious about that interaction! Was it genuine and he really did let his guard down to charm her, or is he practiced at seamlessly fitting in any situation and flirting was the way to go in that moment. How "practiced" is he at his behavior?

jmo
oh yes, same questions here. AND an accent or not.... Even if a practiced "non accent", that can slip when the guard is down too......

Any more information on the bus ride from Atlanta to NYC? Any stops along the way where he could have gotten on the Greyhound?

I've been thinking this since the beginning.
Was careful enough to always wear a mask (other than when flirting) but careless enough to drop a cellphone in an alley?
Possibly the phone dropped was done on purpose to throw the investigation off (not being the “real phone”?

Just because we are obsessing over this story, doesn't mean his peers are.
Agreed

Also, he might usually wear a beard so people might not recognize him

With all of the evidence left behind and the resources of the NYPD: caught on camera multiple times including at a corporate chain, at least 3 witnesses directly at scene (woman outside, two cars idling), used a phone near the scene, left a phone behind at the scene, left a water bottle with a smudged print, left behind casings, tracked down where he stayed (fake id) and travel to NYC (greyhound). It’s surprising to me that they still haven’t identified him yet. I do wonder if much of the evidence left behind was a red herring to throw them off track.
Some of the new information does make this sound more professional or at least organized in some manner. I’ve had an even crazier thought that maybe there were multiple individuals in the area that day dressed the exact same to obscure movements and identity.
I woke up this morning and immediately refreshed my news assuming there'd at least be a name reported, if not an arrest. I am surprised that there is no new info at all that became available to the public overnight.

Here’s what I think, totally speculative based on my experience with benefits administration, including CEO escalations. I think this guy had a child who was very ill and had been recommended for a treatment or provider, which insurance denied, possibly due to treatment being considered “experimental or investigational” (a common denial reason given by insurance carriers) or out of network. The child died and this guy has a vendetta. The mother is also extremely distraught and is in on the plan to get even. (It could also be the case that the spouse was the one who was ill and needed the denied coverage.)

Of all my jobs, I’ve never been exposed to as much raw, intense and off the charts emotion as when dealing with medical benefits issues. It’s one reason I will never, ever (voluntarily) have a managed care plan. Stuff happens, things change. You go for the cheaper plan thinking (or not even thinking) “this won’t happen to my family - we’re healthy.” Then it does, and the brain surgeon you want to operate on your child’s brain cancer is out of network or the treatment is deemed “experimental and investigational” and you’re stuck with what you consider sub-par care.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was talking to his wife/child's mother by phone on his way to murder BT. And she knew where he was on Thanksgiving, he was exacting their revenge.

If this is the case, I hope she’s ticked off enough at his flirting with the desk clerk at the hostel to turn him in.

JMO as a possible scenario which hit me the minute I heard about this murder.
I also was thinking this scenario when in the beginning of photos coming out, someone here thought the backpack looked like a diaper bag.

On the photos where he is talking to the hostel worker, two things stand out.

Look at his hands. Am I the only one to see that they are:
- flexible maybe even slightly hyperextendable
- at this, he has “toe thumb nails” (wide and short) - not an unusual trait but very unusual in combination with long thumbs
- pretty visible knuckles, as if he was into karate
- the third photo: the walk. Unusual as I think both feet are on the ground. You usually put your heel on first which I think he does, but then, he “rolls” his feet. Probably very athletic and with a good balance.

All these things must be noticeable to people who know him, but otherwise, he’s just a guy on the street.

People who are close to him may not be motivated to sell their friend for 10K. Why?

I never saw the guy. He slightly resembles one of my friends courting me in my youth that is, eons ago (and he had dark hair and blue eyes and was great at travesty roles in amateur movies), but IRL, a regular guy.

I think this is how most people would think.

His shoes

In the previous thread, it was surmised he stashed the e-bike the day before.
I disagree bc it most likely would have been stolen before the killer could have retrieved it. This leads me to believe the killer had help.

“We are asking every New Yorker and American to look at the picture [of the suspect] and to assist us," Adams said. "If you know him, if his face looks familiar, please reach out to our law enforcement here or your local law enforcement so we can bring this person to justice."

"It was not an easy task ... entities are going to bring this person to justice."

I don't think they are as close as we might like to believe.

I have to laugh at this, as you are so right! It's a very calculated decision not to wear a tie. The whole look, from the slightly unbottoned shirt, to the no-tie, to the shoe-type, is all cauculated to present an image with these folks. Same with hand gestures when speaking, etc.

I've personally heard Witty speak and been at events with him and every. single. thing. he does is calculated to present an image.

And they never wear a tie.

I think it has to do with the fact that most of them have short necks. Long time ago, I had a friend who’d laughingly say, “to be smart, the carotid arteries bringing the blood to brain, have to be short and thick.” Anyhow, a tie and buttoned up shirt emphasize these short necks. So I think they had to go. Why did socks have to follow suit beats me. Maybe these guys can’t match them well.

Someone had also mentioned the bright blue suit jacket not being suitable for a big board meeting.....

Currently, I cannot subscribe to this..but just saying, you are not alone.....
It's not unusual for CEOs to wear the corporate color. Branding... This is definitely UHC blue.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the same eye and brow features in the masked Starbucks photo and the unmasked hostel photo? I get these photos were taken on different days, so the fact that he's wearing a different jacket doesn't concern me. It's the fact that the unmasked photo shows distinct black eyelashes and eyebrows, which aren't evident in the masked image. Could be that the quality of the masked photo is grainier and less clear overall, but his eyebrows and lashes in the unmasked image are so noticeable it seems we'd at least see some darkness in the eye area of the masked photo.

After reaching the Big Apple, he checked into the HI New York City Hostel on the Upper West Side before going to stake out the Hilton Hotel in Midtown, where he ended up killing Thompson early Wednesday.

He appeared to have checked out of the youth hostel for one night before returning in an Uber a day later — on Nov. 30 — to rebook a room with a fake New Jersey ID, per sources.
UBER? Definitely requires a CC!

Ooooh! I just had a crazy idea! What if BT hired his own killer?!? Wants to preserve his legacy, maintain his wealth for his family, knows he’s going down. Could explain the no security, bright blue jacket, impeccable timing, well-funded assassin who had plenty of time to plan this out.

And no, not sure I believe this one either, but this case is driving me nuts, clearly, haha.
Or perhaps someone sympathetic to the wife booked the hit. Or, or, or...the list appears endless and it's fun to speculate. (I had the same thought Kittybunny, because of that bright, blue jacket.)

He could have used some kind of bike lock. Either way though, it is definitely a risk to leave the bike the day before. What if someone punctures the tires etc. So either he's okay with such risks or he had some kind of help.

Do they do security clearances for bus travel like they do on planes?

At this point, he could have given himself a haircut/shaved his head/dyed his hair, adding to the challenges in finding him. And I'm sure some of the millions of internet comments speculating on his identity, motives and whereabouts are very useful to him.

That said, I think he'll only be found if this was personal. If an entity with a larger agenda is bankrolling him, he's become a liability. Either way, it'll be a surprise if he's still alive. I see no quality of life in his future.

I agree, plus he was on the phone walking minutes before the shooting. He wasn't talking to him mom at 6;40 that morning
