Could not agree more. With the amount of resources being deployed he should absolutely have been found by now. With the amount of evidence left and video surveillance he could have been found in 48hrs if this were a common perp. NYC has been transformed to tackle terrorism since 9/11. This is a high profile case and on an operational level, is a very bad look for the public image of the security state that has been set up by NYPD. It didn’t stop or solve this in a timely manner. One can tell the strain by how the mayor is reacting. This isn’t a typical case or perp at all IMO.
Same!Good morning everyone. Im hoping today is the day. I thought for sure id wake up to a name
Let's admit it... if anyone of us had a strong vendetta, we could all pull together a pretty flawless plan... given the right mindset, time and money..with both and a and b plan.Maybe because American crimes like public shooting have the hallmark of not smart enough to plan, and seem to get caught awful quickly? The guy here seems to have planned how to travel to the area, how to take out a target, and then how to leave. He had to have known at any point he might get caught, but to carry on until he did. I bet he had plan A and plan B for each step along the way.
He may just have turned up late. He was paying cash and may not have paid for his entire stay in advance. Just speculation.Well, whether it was an "administrative check-out" or he physically checked himself out......where was he?
Not sure what an administrative check out actually is. Of he booked for 10 nights and paid for 10 nights, I'm note sure why the hostel would check him out?
We’ve worn out the poor moderator.Shouldn't there be a new thread?
This could be bad for NYC tourism as well. I have been there a few weeks before Christmas and the sidewalks and stores are packed with tourists. I really wouldn’t want to be there now, walking around, knowing a killer is on the loose. With the amount of resources being deployed he should absolutely have been found by now. One criticism of UnitedHealthcare that has garnered attention following the shooting involves a lawsuit alleging the company uses artificial intelligence (AI) to deny coverage to some elderly patients who are on a Medicare Advantage plan, despite
allegedly being aware that the algorithm has a 90 percent error rate.
..
The lawsuit alleges the provider continues using the system because it knows that only about 0.2 percent of policyholders will appeal their denied claims and that the majority will "either pay out-of-pocket costs or forgo the remainder of their prescribed post-acute care."
The suit says that UnitedHealthcare banks "on the patients' impaired conditions, lack of knowledge, and lack of resources to appeal the erroneous AI-powered decisions."
Moo.. are you a CEO? I would worry about pushed on subway tracks..that is my only knowledge of NYThis could be bad for NYC tourism as well. Er yeah, I didn't catch that. I'm from CLE where we have E 6th, W 6th...lol....Sixth Avenue? (There's no W 6th in Manhattan.)
Also knew there wouldn't be security guarding BT? Also possibly knew to look for the guy in the bright blue suit-jacket? Wouldn't it have been to dark to see BT's face that early in the morning??He would still need inside knowledge of BT’s movements, and know that BT would be leaving the hotel the time he did to head to Hilton, this guy even calmly had a Starbucks while waiting, someone must have been feeding him info on BT’s schedule
To me, the most stereotypical American crime is shooting as many random people as possible in a school, store, or nightclub.I mean this in the most stereotypical way. As an American, I also can’t think of anything more American.
If anything it could bring more tourists, the type of looky loos who hang around and take photos of accidents. Especially if the crime is notorious and unsolved. After all this shooting was targeted. As a tourist I'd be more mindful of pickpockets and muggers. This could be bad for NYC tourism as well. The words were not etched onto the bullets but written on with permanent marker. He also left the hostel and checked back in the next day with the fake NJ ID. So i believe that implies he used a different ID for the nights prior? Or somehow checked in without ID previously? I live in a smaller state and actually was not asked to show ID when I recently checked in somewhere, to my relief because I had left my wallet at home by accident. Maybe the hostel even gave him a pass at first without ID but after a few nights said he needed ID or they’d need to kick him out.
That seems to suggest that the night he spent away from the hostel, he spent elsewhere in the city and at the very least acquired a new ID and maybe other items used in the crime.
Does bring me back to thought of an accomplice or organized help. As others have stated, he would not have been able to prepare his weapon or the bullets with the etched words in his shared room at the hostel. Maybe he acquired all of these items that night he left the hostel from a third party.
I'm sorry, but I kind of had to laugh. It's pretty clear IMO the killer isn't going after average every day people, he spared the woman right next to the "target" who witnessed it up close. Most of NYC is safe from him (if he's even still there). Meanwhile there's always killers on the loose. Especially in big cities. This could be bad for NYC tourism as well. I have been there a few weeks before Christmas and the sidewalks and stores are packed with tourists. I really wouldn’t want to be there now, walking around, knowing a killer is on the loose.
Yeah, I think he left it there and someone eventually grabbed it.Do we think he left the e-bike in Central Park & it got stolen which is why it hasn’t been found? Those bikes are soooo heavy, I can’t imagine him chucking it in the water. Any other ideas?
Yeah the general public is not at risk. People aren't quite getting that.Moo.. are you a CEO? I would worry about pushed on subway tracks..that is my only knowledge of NY
