They have his DNA. Worst case scenario is they use genetic genealogy down the road.
It may come to that. The shooter didn’t seem concerned the possibility and he doesn’t seem stupid or careless. The opposite, really. He’d have known about GG and current DNA analysis techniques. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Police discovered monopoly money in a backpack they believe belonged to the masked assassin who gunned down UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown, law enforcement sources told the Post.

The colorful play money was found by NYPD detectives inside of a gray backpack hidden in the brush in Central Park on Friday that may be the one the gunman ditched after the shooting, sources said.

He is just mocking the cops, making fun of their efforts. That big smile for the cctv and the monopoly money left in the decoy backpack is a joke to him.

I used to study assassinations. It was a sub-thread for study while I was doing course work on security-related directed studies -- physical security, industrial security, personnel security. It was an interesting and useful time, but it never turned into a career. It was the age of typewriters. 3d printing has changed things.
I agree, it is possible to make an untraceable gun and 3D printing makes it easier. JMO

Hi! New here. I was just was reading some of the comments. My thoughts to include in the conversation:
-I used an AI facial recognition search, and it showed a guy who looks like the picture, but I'm sure cops have that technology and have used it. I also don't know how accurate that tech is to go saying it's actually the guy.
-I think that the things the guy has been using are all expensive and indicative to me that he is probably a New Yorker. He also knows the streets and layout well. Anyone not from New York generally doesn't know the area like that, even if you planned.
-He could easily change and be unrecognizable IN New York City, hiding in plain sight.
-I think it's a little weird and similar to the V for Vendetta comic and was close to the 5th of November. Obviously, he wouldn't be able to choose the date of his attack since this was the time.
-They really need to release more info to the public for help.

$400 backpack and Tommy Hilfiger jacket...another couple hundred? B&T Station Six-9 costs a couple grand or so. What kind of black and white sneaks did he have on, another $200 or $300? Seems he had funds.

What is B&T Station six-9?

Any way someone could put together a list of all the proven evidence so far? There are so many posts to go through, it would be nice to have all that info in one place.

But look at the publicity result of this murder. I didn't know there was some sort of demonstration at UHC headquarters months ago, protesting them & their practices. But I sure realize it now -- only because of this brazen murder & the public response since then.

We're in the land of reality tv (highly scripted & edited) which, weirdly, seems to be bleeding into "real", everyday life. Bigger, more outrageous, one-upping anything that has already been done....

Imo.
I hope footage (if such exists) from those protests are being reviewed for someone who matches the description of the shooter.

agree these are possilities, and quite likely a sense of saviour, including judge, jury, executioner (which he's more or less confirmed) but i differ on thinking he will continue; i'm hoping i'm right that it's a one-off. i guess no matter our views of health insurance grievances, none of us want to see this as continued solution to the problem.

I agree!!!!

I understand it’s a serious situation and someone died and it’s very sad and I feel horrible for his family.

That said… I literally laughed at the Monopoly money in the backpack. Imagine being a detective and being so excited that you found what you thought is the holy grail and you open it..and it’s full of Monopoly money.
This sounds like the perp is having a great time and this is a huge joke with the inscribed bullets and the Monopoly money

Thompson was approached from behind and shot several times at point blank range at the doorway on West 54th Street, including several rounds in the back and once in the right calf.

Right calf? Looked like left calf.

Oh, I'm absolutely hoping it's a one off too, but it seems like he curated all of his moves to cultivate a specific public reaction. This seems like the type of egomaniac who thrives off of public reaction.

I think it's likely he'll be caught before he can commit other crimes, but I also worry about copy cats, especially given the positive attention the murderer has received online.
