Not completely sure he checked out and in again-supposedly if you aren’t back by a certain time, it’s an automatic check out. You have to check back in again.

There are jitneys that you can hop on to cross the GWB, locals says they run every ten minutes or so during that time.
9-11 hijackers spent plenty of time in North Jersey...blending in...

I keep going back to the possible motive. Yes, there are a lot of theories out there. The wife, his job, the investigation, payback for an insurance denial, and so on. What if it isn't any of those, maybe it's more simple than that. A jilted lover, a jealous boyfriend or husband, maybe he owed the wrong people money. The writing on the bullets, the backpack, could all be a smokescreen. At this point I guess anything is possible.

Does anyone have thoughts on how he planned the escape bus/car/whatever? Going off everything else he planned for, he likely knew he’d be on camera again at some point, no?

I'm with you, but I extend that it's offensive to the country, not just NYC.

The killer (and associates) picked an easy target to despise. It's super easy to find heart-wrenching stories about denied medical care and insurance hassles. The CEO is the perfect villain for everyone to hate, though essentially nobody even knew his name until Wednesday.

This crime was scripted, imo, to turn us into barbarians cheering for violence on our sidewalks. And they found a handsome leading man to make it all the more exciting.

Well said.

Although I do not like what you're saying, it is the world we live in.
Maybe I should edit my post.
Those are not my sentiments, but I do always try to look at the situation from both sides of the argument, and put myself in someone else’s shoes.

Grief is personal and most times unbearable.

I’m not condoning, but I can understand that people can get to a level where they don’t care about BT bc he was the leader of the company that they were PAYING to care for them, but whose policies directly hurt them.

A jacket and Monopoly money found in a backpack believed to belong to the suspect in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare chief Brian Thompson is now being analyzed at a lab in Queens.

The backpack was found Friday near the bandstand in Central Park. Eyewitness News has learned that the Tommy Hilfiger coat seen in some surveillance videos was inside.

For those of you in NYC, how easy is it to rent an eBike? Primarily with cash. I’m familiar with the Citi rentals but this wasn’t one of those. So outside of the Citi ones which basically dominate the city, how else could he have gotten his hands on an eBike short of stealing it?

That's a strong possibility. On sm (Reddit, FB, X), there's a number of instances where posters are alluding that a group/representative/etc. should get the "UHC treatment" and others are cheering them on. I think a lot of it is trolls being trolls, but I deeply worry that some unhinged person will try and take action.
I saw similar stuff after the judge in KY was shot by the sheriff.

I think he bought it.

I don't think it's bizarre, if it's true. If there really have been threats, I am surprised there was not security for him that day. Maybe he felt safer in NYC than he did at home.
Not at all. Moo… I believe their separation for a few years led to her ability to handle the news momentarily and realize that her sole priority at that moment was their children. At that moment she realized she is now their only parent and has To be strong for them. The sooner she made the statement… the sooner she could fully 100% prioritize the needs of their boys. And focus solely on comforting them and grieving with them. She had to make a quick decision on whether to speak now or later… and she chose the decision that would hopefully satisfy the public enough to leave her and the kids alone long enough for her to process what happened and the police to find who did this.

I think her goal was to simply get it done. Respond respectfully, lovingly and compassionately adding in the fact other threats had been made… which to me.. was her saying… “how could this happen to him, when there had already been threats?”…. “Where was his security?” Is how i took that.

Moo… I didn’t take that comment as pointing to someone else… instead of her.. more just genuine anger and frustration as to why or how this could happen with knowledge of threats.

Could be wrong here… but my gut says she has nothing to do with this.

There are independent shops that rent them, mostly on a weekly or monthly basis. Some probably require a credit card on file but I’m sure there are places that will rent to someone with a cash deposit. Alternatively, people are often selling e-bikes on Craigslist or FB Marketplace. I just checked FB Marketplace and there are at least 75 e-bikes listed for sale just in a 3-mile radius from my apartment.

Yes but a Glock isn't 3d printed. Glock also incorporates metal components, it isn't all plastic. Maybe they do have 3d printing polymers that can take the heat of bullets being fired. If they do have such a thing it wouldn't last through many rounds of ammo. JMO

There are 3d printed pistols that fire real bullets. There are so called "enthusiasts" that design, make, and use them for personal use. Perfectly legal as far as I know, at least so far. I don't know much about them except that they exist. One can even do a cursory search on the internet (as I did) and locate where a variant of this specific pistol has been 3d printed and fired. I imagine you're correct regarding their safety, QC concerns, and long term reliability, but since this one is manual and has fewer moving parts it would likely be more reliable than printing say, a semi-automatic pistol.

And it only took 3-4 shots in this case, so many rounds weren't needed.
