Had to finally create an account... the thread moves fast.. so maybe i missed it, but this is the biggest live / real time crime case with main stream interest since the DC sniper..

I also feel the DC snipers taunted with tarot cards, so the taunting angle is somewhat similar to words on the bullets and monopoly money in this case. Has anyone else thought of this comparison or have some mentioned it here and I missed it?

I agree with you totally. No argument at all. It made me wonder if he believes in himself so powerfully that he thinks (arrogantly believes) he did everything well and left no DNA? Or, if he knows there is no familial association that can isolate him using conventional family DNA mapping? For example, if he was adopted and by time and chance there are sufficient disconnections he doesn't think (again in his own arrogance) that he can be identified? Maybe both parents died 30 years ago and he was adopted. That would create a disconnection. It may be bridgeable with determined investigation, but the percentage chance of making a direct, direct familial connection may not immediately be present.
I wonder if he did anything to purposely contaminate anything he left behind

Yes. I understand the rage at UHC (and other of these huge, behemoth companies whose bottom line is profit) but BT was much more than a UHC CEO. He had family who probably loved him immensely and, what’s more, needed him.

It’s all too easy to dump on someone (or cheer their death) anonymously on the Internet, but sometimes one needs to stand back and ask themselves “what is it that I’m doing here?” “What good will come of this comment?” “What pain will it cause, and to whom?” Would I be saying this in person?”

I simply can’t imagine losing someone I love dearly, flawed human being or not, and seeing people literally CHEERING.
There are other ways of dealing with this. Although I don't know what they are. Neither do the people who are cheering this on. But there are other ways. We just need to come together and think of ways. I know people have lobbied their congressional members. I know back in the day, I spent countless hours with the state board of insurance and writing letters to representatives. Many of the people who are cheering this on, may have contacted their elected officials in the past.

People at the top are used to hateful and vitriolic comments. It comes with the territory. (We just had a local membership election. The hateful social media comments about the outgoing chair were just crazy. And we're just a small local nonprofit) However, violence is never a solution.

I wonder if Monopoly board game sales will go up? (And, there are so many customized editions, I'm sure someone is already working on a version specific to this, just in time to sell for the holidays. Mark my words. Unfortunately.) Imo.

I am writing this from a iPad in the lounge at NY Midtown Hilton, about to go to dinner, I am overhearing people talk about this case. … does anyone else find it amazing that Peter Pan hasn’t come up yet? … Are there not tremendous Peter Pan analogies here? … the rich, the poor, the uprising boys, the silent arrows, the avenging, the anger.

Welcome to Websleuths!!

I hadn’t thought of that comparison but you’re exactly right. I had forgotten they used taunting also. What’s scary about that though is they killed more than once..

- The backpack recovered by the NYPD that allegedly belonged to the suspect wanted in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, only had two items inside: a Tommy Hilfiger jacket and Monopoly money
- as of Saturday evening, no identification has been made.

Edited to remove info that was retracted by Reuters and New York Post.

For those of you in NYC, how easy is it to rent an eBike? Primarily with cash. I’m familiar with the Citi rentals but this wasn’t one of those. So outside of the Citi ones which basically dominate the city, how else could he have gotten his hands on an eBike short of stealing it?

I searched ebike rental google maps NYNY, a bunch came up

Things have been very quiet today re: updates, compared to the last three days.
I hope that means they are close in identifying and apprehending this guy.

Also, no word whether Interpol is involved which may point to this person still being in the US.
Reuters is saying that The New York Post says LE have id'd the killer but are not releasing the name.

A city council member in my city resigned partly because he was getting death threats. As the song goes, God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. I cannot support cold-blooded brazen murder no matter who the target was. From what I have read, BT was well-loved; a decent man and father of two. May he RIP. MOO
