Are these kind of guns prone to jamming?
Or was it a 1-in-a-million chance it jammed when it did?
The video upthread explains that the gun has to be cleared after each shot. That's why is has the description of an assassin's gun - an assassin only needs one shot. The gun didn't jam, it has to be reset to fire again.

Interesting he hasn’t been very consistent about hiding his identity. Why so strict about keeping his mask on and face hidden for days in the hostel, only to reveal it in the taxi and when flirting. Is he kicking himself for letting his guard drop? Why not wear glasses / sunglasses to hide his face. Thats the most puzzling aspect to me.

Seems like the most amateur aspect of this whole situation. Maybe he knows he will be caught eventually and really doesn’t care.

you have to show your face to check into a hostel.

It does appear that it did in fact jam. Had it not, there should have been 3 spent bullet casings found, and nothing more. There were 3 unfired rounds found as well, which means he cleared the gun. The only reason to do that was if there was a jam.

So when people were looking at the video initially, they thought they were seeing jams when they weren't, and were in fact seeing jams at spots where there were jams.

One expert last night said the first two shots went off without a hitch, but jamming occurred after that.

I wish I knew more about games TBH. I just never really got into them so much as I got older. I mean, from what I do know about the current state of gaming, it wouldn't be inconceivable for a conspiracy like this to be concocted by a few folks around the world while playing one (and encrypted, under pseudonyms, and perhaps having never even met!). It's a far cry nowadays from my beloved Sega Genesis Hockey. :D
There’s literally a task in GTA (Grand Theft Auto) where you have to assassinate a big pharma CEO to tank stock prices :/

There's a meticulous, intelligent playfulness, sense of humour, and deadly seriousness in everything the shooter has done while trying to get away with murder. Monopoly money in a backpack seems like sarcasm of Depose, Deny, Defend. Searching for the backpack wasted hours of manpower. Maybe the coat in the backpack has DNA that has never been registered in a genealogy database.

It almost seems like the shooter spent a lot of time anticipating every possible outcome, and how to confuse or delay the investigation.

This demo shows

Good luck explaining your DNA all over items connected to the murder though.
One possibility would be the shooter knows they have chimerism--two sets of DNA. Chimerism can occur in different ways. One way it can occur is through an organ or stem cell transplant from another person (donor).
Really doubt it, though.
Always good to keep all options open to consideration, though.

Interesting thought. I wondered whether twins were involved. He doesn't quite seem to go in different directions, but he does raise questions.

Where did the bike go?

I did not buy into the idea of special effect prosthetics when they were originally pitched but I'm beginning to wonder now. Especially given how meticulously planned it all seems to be.
Respectfully snipped by me for focus...

Some of the dissimilarities in the facial photos are so pronounced that it's difficult to attribute them all to lighting, angles, and posture. I missed when prosthetics were mentioned earlier, but it's crossed my mind.

I would think -- is he doing something to change his appearance so much? Then I'd think -- nah, that's the stuff of movies. But, pretty soon, I'd be considering it again...

Also, I've explored in his white face mask blacks and you can see the perp could definitely pass as a woman in a headscarf and niqab

BSBM: I dunno. I’d think there would have to be a trip to the brow bar at the very least before passing as a woman. That’s a very manly brow, in my book!

I do find it interesting that his wearing of a mask is such a big part of this case, and it actually sort of “showcases” his most distinctive facial feature: Eyes/brow bone structure and brows themselves.

A little irony that I wonder if he thought about beforehand. Surely he has now!

This guy has been leaving messages from the start, and the backpack is just one more. MOO

The Monopoly money could be bashing corporate greed (UHC or in general) or maybe even Capitalism.

The killer could be making a mockery of the system, or he could be trying to symbolize the financial burden put on families by unfair health insurance denials.

Or, it could be sarcasm indicating BT's wealth couldn't protect him.

The bike.
There's 2-4 minutes between being seen on the bike, and hailing a cab with no bike. Did he have a fold up bike that's locked to a lamp post?

He was in NYC for 10 days before the murder. The first thing he did was take a cab between the planned murder site and the Port Authority bus depot - where he was last seen. He probably scoped out a place to get rid of the bike and the gun parts.

With the overnight developments (monopoly money etc) Russian or eastern European mafia can be ruled out 100% now, that is very much not their style. I think a hired hitman of any sort can be ruled out, they are discreet, they get the job done and no fun and games.

Whoever responsible is either a psychopath/sociopath/narcissist who killed for fun and to taunt the police because he could, or someone with a grudge against BT personally, or the company.

Showed the new pictures of him to an Iranian female friend and she is absolutely certain he is of Iranian heritage, the eyebrows a dead giveaway

Definitely a different jacket than the one worn at the front desk of the hostel.

This guy/gal changes jackets like most of us change underwear. But in the white mask street photo, I'm seeing a hint of an Adam's apple. We could be looking at two people, not just one. And as a poster mentioned--where did the e-bike go? Those are heavy (mine weighs about 100 pounds), so not easy to lose.
