And there he is.. the real Luigi..

I'm glad he was caught when he was, because THIS doesn't look like the face of a man that was finished.
ITA.
Thankful more innocent lives weren't taken by this perp.
Omo.

His lawyers have their work cut out for them it seems
Does he just turn on the switch full bore to try and show he is insane?

I agree.
I think that Altoona was a stop on his way to another destination for the same purpose. MOO.
I hardly think he'd be done with the killing of one CEO when he's this (gestures hands wildly) angry.

Again - jmo

I can't imagine how his family is coping with this. From pride in their son/sibling to sheer devastation.

Mangione made his first court appearance on Monday night to face charges relating to the killing of Thompson outside the annual UnitedHealthcare investors meeting in New York. In addition to the murder charge, he faces counts over the criminal possession of a weapon and silencer.

Police said that they arrested him in possession of a so-called ghost gun – that could have been produced by a 3D printer – and a suppressor.

Mangione was largely silent during the court hearing, though he did speak out to dispute the account being presented by prosecutors. They had said he was carrying about $10,000 in cash, and asserted that the bag he was carrying had the ability to block cellphone signals, which all pointed to his sophisticated criminal planning.

“I’d like to correct two things,” Mangione said, according to CNN. “First, I don’t know where any of that money came from – I’m not sure if it was planted. And also, that bag was waterproof, so I don’t know about criminal sophistication.”

We can't sleuth his family, but I don't think they were *that* wealthy (at least not by the standards of the richest people in MD nor NY nor CA or any other high CoL place.

It is my impression that his family has gone public about their own medical issues and inability to pay for two members' bills. His family owns a funeral home; his closest relatives have jobs - well paid jobs, but still jobs that require a lot of hard work (medical doctor, for example).

I'll report my own post to make sure this link is okay.
Good point. His grandparents had 10 children, and they each had children of their own. That may be a lot of people to split up the wealth of the grandparents. They might be well off, but not necessarily rolling in dough.

I'm thinking this isn't arrogance and that he's had some type of psychological deterioration. Who knows?
I hope they lock him up and throw away the key, but it always makes me sad to see young people with promise completely lose their way.
Agree, both Brian and Luigi were valedictorians from world class schools, one had a high flying successful business career, the other threw it all away, such a waste of 2 brilliant minds that 1 should lose his life at the hands of the one who made bad choices

“When my spondy went bad on me last year (23M) it was completely devastating as a young athletic person,” Mister_Cactus wrote in a subreddit for spondylolisthesis, a condition where the vertebrae in the spine slip out of place. “Seemingly all I could read on the internet was that I was destined to chronic pain and a desk job for the rest of my life.” They added that the thought “completely destroyed” them until learning about the prospect of spinal fusion surgery, which connects two or more bones in the spine, preventing movement between them that can cause some types of back pain

“‘Nobody will operate on my back until I’m at least 40’ is nonsense coming from a medical professional who lacks perspective.”

Imagine how his relative (cousin?) feels, he's a republican state office holder.

It comes down to this and perhaps a type of confusion surrounding dating in general... imo, total speculation.
'He knew that dating and being physically intimate with his back condition wasn’t possible,' Mr Martin told The Times''
Was that just a temporary thing immediately after the accident or the surgery, though? I find it difficult to believe his injury/surgery prevented that if he is physically able to walk across the street, shoot someone multiple times then ride off at high speed on a bike all whilst lugging a backpack around.

I agree- he kept that gun and those ID's for a reason.

His mother reported him missing in November. If I were in her shoes, I'd be grateful to know that he was alive and somewhere he wouldn't be able to hurt himself, at least temporarily. Just my opinion.

Thank you for explaining this. Would his 'laying in wait" for him victim impact his charges somehow?
No, but it does help prosecutors establish the intent element of a second degree murder charge imo. If he is convicted of second degree murder, a judge will likely consider his laying in wait (as well as the pre-planning involved, of course) as aggravating factors for sentencing. Second degree murder carries a minimum sentence of 15-25 years and a maximum of life, so a judge will consider aggravating and mitigating factors to determine what they believe to be an appropriate sentence within this range. These factors are also significant to the prosecution in determining what, if any, plea deal to offer.

Holy mackerel, check the heavy grip on his surgically repaired neck.
I need to look at the video again, however, iirc, he whipped his neck around [turned it around] and I felt once he saw a crowd decided to show off? I didn't know he had a repaired neck. But, boy, for someone supposedly having pain, he covers well. moo
