Look at this guy, he just killed someone and he is the one that is raging??? I will not be surprised to find out that he has a pain pill problem.

Thousands of dollars in cash. A passport. 4 different ID’s. Silenced pistol. Faraday bag.

I’ve thought from the beginning that fantasy played a major role in this.

Especially when you throw in the writing on the bullet casings, and Monopoly money.

That stuff wasn’t necessary to commit this crime, but it was necessary to him on a psychological level.

what monopoly money?

was anyone able to hear what he was shouting at the press?

In his first public words since a five-day search ended with his arrest at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, Luigi Nicholas Mangione emerged from a patrol car shouting about an “insult to the intelligence of the American people” while deputies pushed him inside a courthouse.
Rbm.

It was a bit garbled , but the rest of it sounded like; "This is completely unjust and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience."
Omo.

It really seems like they think his back issues factored heavily into this.

Law enforcement sources tell ABC News that Luigi Mangione's Reddit profile — which has been taken down — is being reviewed for additional details about the extent of the injuries mentioned.

thanks
he thinks he's a hero for the masses

Also from above link, another angle of LE bringing LM into courthouse :

In the next one, LM appears to be checking to see if he has an audience :

I feel for his family most of all.
They've been thrust into the spotlight in the worst possible way.
A complete betrayal.
Also thinking about his (former ?) friends who thought they knew him.

With a look like that, I'm glad there isn't a romantic partner involved. That looks scary, even if I didn't know he was a killer.

He can yell all he wants about injustice to the American people, imo, his anger is about him, not on behalf of others. I happen to think his anger is misplaced and if he didn't pick the insurance industry CEO, he would've picked someone else to lash out at. Someone was going to get hurt - he was determined to be angry and cause pain, imo.

I agree. And I suspect that if he hadn’t been caught, he would have kept going. Imo.

Hope you are right but I think his defence will not be about his actions that day but about the healthcare system in general and it might succeed in swaying some jurors with bad personal family experiences
The voir dire process of jury selection by the judge and attorneys for the defense and prosecution will likely eliminate any potential juror who has had bad personal family experiences with their medical insurance provider. The voir dire process should identify any potential biases or conflicts of interest and hopefully select an impartial jury.

Both the defense and the prosecution attorneys will work with professionals who are experts at the voir dire process and will advise their respective sides as to which jurors they should and should not select.

ADMIN NOTE

Sorry that this post falls late in the thread. As we do allow the social media accounts of victim and perp, and we would trust Forbes to have done appropriate vetting, we are allowing the link to the Reddit posts that they have verified as belonging to Mangione.

On another note, we know and understand that the healthcare industry is of major, major concern to so many people (quite the understatement there). The injustices within that system however are NOT going to be changed by relating our individual experiences that are not directly related to the case at hand. Thank you for your understanding.

ETA: AND, most discussion as to whether or not he peed his pants only serves to demean him as a human being. That's not how WS rolls, so please set it aside going forward. Thanks !!

Well, isn’t that sad. We have had lots of people in this country trying to bring attention to the need for healthcare reform, for many, many years.
Just really sad that two children are without their dad now because he took such an extreme action for healthcare reform (which, probably won't even bring the reform he was wanting..)

With the newest admin ruling, here's an archived post from LM's reddit account:

It appears surfing is what caused the major issues that led to his surgery.

Post is accessible by using pullpush (a well-known aggregator/archiver/indexer of reddit posts):

"Spondy" may indicate a pre-existing condition. Quote from ClevelandClinic.com: Spondylolisthesis ehappens when your vertebrae are cracked or weakened enough ... to slip out of place. If a slipped vertebra presses on a nerve, you may develop shooting pain in your legs (sciatica). Some people need surgery to relieve spondylolisthesis symptoms ...
