His trial lawyer's going to have a rough go with this case. ;)
I'm sure it will be a headline grabbing showboat that will make a spectacle of the proceedings. ...ugh
but here we all are ...glued to our screens!

Jumping off this post - but as always posing the question broadly:

What would be the steps to attempt to backtrack the making of a Ghost Gun?
Could they:
Identify the materials by composition and specific color and track down the manufacturer of that specific material and work forward from there?

There will be a way for them to figure out where it was printed. It just may take some time.

This is yet another extraordinary message with this case...
that anyone can just make an untraceable deadly weapon. that is a double ugh.

No excuse for murder but certainly a spotlight on the issue.
And both of these statements will have their day in court.
In the long run,
I think many of us are going to be thanking him, silently even if we know he is in the right place for the rest of his life.
I think we will all be testing our own moral compass on this.
Really? I certainly will not be counted in those many. This cold-blooded murder of a father walking down the street has certainly exposed some people's "moral" compass. (Oxford Definition - Moral Compass - used in reference to a person's ability to judge what is right and wrong and act accordingly.)

G-d forbid anyone thinks that change can be effected by murdering a CEO. That is not a road I want to go down.

ITA especially the way he started it “to the feds” he knew the FBI was involved at that point.
Or that he thought of himself as so important a figure that the FBI would inevitably be called in to hunt him down.

According to Alex Caprariello's clip [linked above] LM interrupted his attorney [T. Dickey] and his attorney got real sharp with LM and stated no, no, no, dont speak at all!

I suspect, LM, is extremely angry he got caught. moo
My guess is that he thought he would be dead by now. I am amazed he isn't. WIth the cameras everywhere and the sheer mass of people in that area of NY at this time of year mulling around even at that hour - I don't know why he got away.

It seems his planning did not take into account getting away from the scene unscathed. He appeared pretty adrift when apprehended. Hard to say where the ugly anger is coming from. Since I believe he had no plans to be captured,it seems he may be in what looks like a total mental collapse or just coming off drugs he was addicted to - that should become clear shortly. You really do get that monster uglyl ooking anger when you stop your drugs.

His movements are somehow always shrouded in mystery it seems. Rural PA might be a choice location to do some of his target practice to perfect his gun handling techniques.

I doubt he went home to Maryland after he went radio silent with his folks this year. Most interesting to me though was the People mag article where his mom said he had displayed 'concerning behaviors on several occasions" prior to her reporting him missing.

Suicidal thoughts, perhaps?
If his outburst yesterday is any indication I believe he was becoming unhinged and probably railing about his perceived injustices. His mother may have called him out on it. I hope we will find out more about his actions the last year+. He's been somewhere, hopefully there's been tips called in, especially since he's known now.

I think this was scribbled out not long before he was captured, as he knew the walls were closing in.

If he was planning something else, it seems he wasn’t planning on surviving it.
Could his “I respect the Feds” note indicate he 2as going to do away with himself?

Gosh this one has me somewhat ambivalent.
On one hand I am and always will be a huge supporter of the law and LE and I am applauding them for apprehending so quickly, however on another hand I am a smidge disappointed. I can understand that this might be taboo and rub some here the wrong way and I mean no disrespect, but I am not totally surprised at the mass public reaction to this whole circus. On one hand I believe that nobody has the right to take the life of another and if they do they must face the consequences, but on another hand the whole healthcare "murdering by proxy" "eat the rich" etc... stuff is just so in your face it's hard to ignore and easy to understand. Look around both online and in your daily life and you will immediately come across someone who either them self or a loved one has been impacted by greedy healthcare issues. It's such a big issue and I hate to say it but this sort of thing was gonna happen eventually. Not just the alleged perp here but PEOPLE on a whole have had enough. Sure they don't all go out and commit murder thankfully (although many do resort to crime as a result) but it's not a surprise here that someone got pushed to the end of their own personal tether over it and took the most extreme measures.
Ugh I don't know, I just kinda get it and I hate that I feel that way. That said, I agree with the law and whatever the law hands to LM. I also agree with the people who aren't entirely condemning the act of "fighting back".
I am however hoping that this doesn't lead to any copycat attempts as not only is that wrong as a whole, unintended targets could get caught in the crossfire

Ultimately though my heart is with all the members of BT's family and friends... As well as those of LM and I'm sorry, but also LM himself... Also each and every single person who has been done over by healthcare companies... patients, staff and medical professionals alike.

Sorry if my own opinions here offend anybody, I'm struggling as I've not been this conflicted before and feel like a huge hypocrite <3
Thanks for this lovely, insightful post. It's a very realistic view of the dilemma so many are facing. As a national community, there's so much that we all need to discuss and solve. It's ok to bring all the ugly parts of this tragic story to light. Our fellow Americans are unfairly suffering and its ok to say that out loud.
I also so appreciate your post, jw192, and your response, Betty P. Both of you have so very thoughtfully expressed the gut-wrenching emotions and complicated thoughts that so many of us struggle with regarding this tragedy. I feel immense sadness for BT's family, LM's family and LM.

I pulled the following post of LM's from this link that searches Reddit posts. I know we have discussed his surgery being this past summer, but it seems it was the summer of 2023. Seems based on the post being dated Feb 2024 and he references his surgery being 6 months ago, then he had it end of July or early August 2023. Seems at least 6 months after he was doing well.. talks as if this surgery was a success. So Feb of this year was 10 months ago and he was doing well.

Yea I had L5/S1 spinal fusion 6 months ago after 1.5 years of failed conservative treatment. Within 7 days of the fusion I was on zero pain meds. (That's probably faster than most folks, but my point is just that your body isn't supposed to be in pain and need meds. Even after getting my back sliced open and my spine drilled into, I wasn't in much pain)

Everyone's spondy symptoms are different. From childhood until age 23, my back would always ache if I stood too long, but it wasn't too bad. Imo that sort of achy symptom makes sense to medicate if it's bothersome. But once the spine is unstable and you can feel the bones moving/grinding, that isn't something you try to medicate. That's something you go in and fix. I'm sure that will become standard medical knowledge in a decade, but it seems we're a bit early

Looks like I cannot access his reddit posts anymore. Can anyone help with the archives maybe. He hade comments mentioning Blue Cross Blue Shield paid tests for his stomach, that he had lyme disease, and many interesting posts on r/brainfog
I have wondered if our dude had some degree of somatic preoccupation. He told his friend in Hawaii that his back pain/misalignment of his spine began in 'childhood.' Then he fretted about having serious 'brain fog after he had attended a frat party during college. Then came Lyme disease and IBS.

He reminds me of people who frequent doctor's offices with a laundry list of complaints yet rarely take their doctor's advice.

Just something I thought about lately and I'm probably wrong.

Fingerprints found at the scene of the assassination of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO match those of suspect Luigi Mangione, two law enforcement officials briefed on the matter told CNN on Wednesday, as authorities continue to investigate the motive for the killing.

This marks the first positive forensic match tying Mangione directly to the scene where Brian Thompson was gunned down just over a week ago outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel.

Luigi Mangione‘s fingerprints match those found on a KIND snack bar and a water bottle near the scene of the Manhattan shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO, law enforcement sources said.

The prints mark the first forensic connection between Mangione and evidence. Investigators are still trying to match Mangione’s prints to those found on the gun used in the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, which was found on the suspected killer when he was arrested Monday in Pennsylvania.

I wonder how LE tracked LM down to going to the motel since it seems like they are the ones who called the motel asking if he’d stayed there. Unless they just called a bunch of places in the general vicinity
I am curious about how they link all the video evidence.

i wonder if any other health insurance CEO was going to be in Altoona in the coming week or so?i
Or if LM was heading toward a place where a health insurance CEO was going to be. And wonder what was his thinking in keeping the gun . . .

Thank you.
This answered the question I first had when I heard they had found prints. I couldn't figure out what he had touched directly at the murder scene and had forgotten about his earlier appearance at the Starbucks.

Bbm.
Yes I'm interested in finding out more about that ?
The 2nd sentence of your post gave me a chuckle.....:)
Omo.
That's what's confusing to me - if the reddit posts are to be believed, it sounds like the surgery went great for him and he was even encouraging other people to get it so I'm not sure what his issue was
