One angle I had not considered is that it could be an activist or activist group as opposed to someone with a specific axe to grind with either UHC or the victim. Think the messaging on the shell casings is at least one step too clever for a disgruntled customer or domestic turmoil-related hit. “Deny Defend Depose” sounds like the typical corny sloganeering of a youthful anti-capitalist group. The shooter was spry and knew NYC too well to have been an out of towner imo. Maybe a college kid? Could also bring those hackers back into play, but they’re not locals.

if we are playing the odds it’s way more likely this was a personal issue than a revenge killing by or on behalf of a random disgruntled UHC policyholder or investor. I find the hacking thing really interesting but the idea that an international cyber gang did it seems even more remote.

So now I’m coming back to his personal life. In hindsight the wife’s NBC interview was weird. First of all, how was she composed enough to even do it so soon after the murder? Second, if you watched it, didn’t it seem strange that she jumped right to a possible explanation (previous threats based on insurance coverage denial)? Now we find out there may be a divorce situation happening behind the scenes? Very much worth looking into. MOO.
Bbm… do you happen to have a link to the interview ? I can’t seem to find it here or by google search. Thank you in advance!

I assume a lot of analysts and institutional investors were invited -- that would probably be the reason it was held at the Hilton, which is very well known for its large ballroom/conference room. With many attendees, I think it would not be hard for the location info to leak. https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/nycnhhh-new-york-hilton-midtown/events/

Very easy to obtain this information. All corporations are required to hold annual meetings, and shareholders have to be informed.

So one news outlet says there's video that he exited a subway station at 6:15am that morning but eye witnesses in another article say he was there by the hotel in a corner the whole night waiting?

What am I missing here, can anyone fill me in? Trying to get caught up and piece it together. Thank you!

At this point, I think the witness account is incorrect.... just not sure why yet. It is adding to the confusion, for sure.

It very likely is. MOO

It's similar to the title of a book about insurance companies.

In my thinking, to take the time to inscribe these casings was directly related to this book, and the overall ideology of how insurance companies rule and scam.
This is a highly regarded and heavily reviewed book on the industry.

Another new video shows the alleged suspect biking out of Central Park, on West 85th Street, after the shooting.

Me quoting me

There is a metro station on 86th three blocks from where he exited on 85th.

If the killer is some zealot who hates insurance companies (not a personal grudge), then the CEOs and top execs of CIGNA, UHC, AETNA, and BCBS should be upping their security games about now.

I’ve worked with (not for) all of these carriers, and they’re all basically the same. Make members jump thru hoops to get things paid, go to physical therapy 10x before MRI approval, no automated process to file appeals, providers have to make multiple peer to peer calls to approve an annual infusion that is literally approved every year after multiple denials , etc. IMO (and I’m close to retirement in this field after decades in my career) UHC is no worse than others.

I could see how this can be a personal grudge from a UHC member (or family member) if they had to go thru the frustration of getting claims paid/denied/no access to care etc.

What people should be talking about after this murder is solved is the outrageous insurance CEO salaries. That’s criminal.
Yes, yes yes.... they ARE all the same actually. And with so many boomers hitting retirement years, the claims process is going to climb exponentially, and is probably going to get more painful as well.

I guess that is why I felt from the get-go... ONE motive has certainly been achieved. Sudden Awareness of the Insurance industry and its foibles and flaws!!!

I am still thinking this was a paid hit... but with someone who is close enough to the "cause". I just feel the shooter is just too cocky and confident to be the one pained. Zero emotion.

I dunno, when I first saw him looking so cocky, I was just feeling we might have a "Robinhood" situation here....

While I do understand that concerns about health companies denying claims are out there and family members feel that their one has died because of such actions exist; it is not quite as clear cut, and prevalent as one might believe. In many cases, it is an opinion based on the care or something that the family wishes could have been done, but no direct proof or knowledge that it would have saved the person. Upon googling, I found very few notations of people dying due to insurance claim denial. However, to the individual who suffered the loss, I can see how they would blame the insurance company. Anyway, all to say is it could be that, but I think there is only a slight chance that the suspect has committed this because of something like that.

No expert but I find it odd the way he racks the gun to reload. Looking at pistols found this.

I looked up county property records and around 2020 he put their family home in the wife's name plus a trust and moved .6 miles down the street in the same neighborhood to another $1M house, which he put in a revokable trust in his name. I'm thinking this was a personal hit.

That area will be full of cameras, imo, and I bet LE is gathering enough video to follow him. If he hopped on a subway, there will be images at the turnstile where he entered and exited. If he went into a vehicle, there will be images of the vehicle as it travels, especially if the vehicle left the island.

I don't think we'll hear more from NYPD until the arrest. I think they can gather the info they need to track him.

I'm also hoping someone recognized that nose and backpack and called in a tip!

2020? Hmmm. He was very involved with covid issues in hospitals, given his profession. I wonder if they separated households because of his exposure? And then kept up the two households because it worked for them?

This Minneapolis news station touched a bit on BT's work when covid hit. Go to timestamp 1:30 -

It's like he changed the word "Delay" in the book's title to "Depose" because he intended to depose the man in a way he wouldn't be coming back.

MOO
JMO, it sounded more like someone with an axe to grind about the legal troubles involving UHC. It's an interesting switch.

It also still seems like the killer was someone with advanced military training in political assassinations, urban warfare or any similar skills the US military teaches soldiers these days.

I watched this clip this morning. Based on this analysis, it doesn't seem like it was a professional "assasin", as the shooter employed non-traditional stance/motions. Not to say he wasn't experienced with firearms, but less likely that he was LE or military IMO.
Analysis about weapon/shooter stance

United health care screwed over a lot of people. The list of people who could be responsible for his death is likely very long.

UnitedHealthcare is the worst insurance company for paying claims with about one-third of claims denied.

Glad to see they are getting a SW, going via the established legal route.

Some ppl buy property as investment and tax write off. I was some what surprised that his was not larger, 1.5 million is not alot considering what he was probably making.
