GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #220

Continuation of rant...

I saw some additional comments on youtube of the video of RA's interrogation.

There was more than one person who said based on the level of anger from RA and the strength of his denial during the interrogation (by a crooked cop no less) and his opinion, RA HAD TO BE innocent and instead the corrupt police framed him. Really???

I didn't waste my time responding but how can some people be so naïve and gullible???

Do they not realize that people tell lies all the time and you can't believe what you hear? That's why they go from fact to fact to confront them with it. Also, bluffing them with false information when necessary.

OK, end of rant on this subject. I certainly hope that these people are in the very small minority and that they never get on a jury.

Most of the time. Fortunately this time. Some people are just quite excellent liars. And they enjoy it. Thoroughly. And pass PGTs with ease. These interrogators would get nowhere with the likes of Diddy, just to name a current example of a self proclaimed übermensch with a non-reactive pulse.

That said I think RA went the - I’ll distract them by madness-route - and that didn’t work so well. Thankfully. It’s probably served him well in the past as a distraction manoeuvre. I suspect it’s going to be what kills him, unless he gets away with it for his diminutive stature which makes him look less threatening - sans firearms.

And then there are cases when the interrogator is so “into winning” that he railroads the subject. We all know that.

Pretty sure that didn’t happen here, though. His own proclamations and overall behaviour did him in. IMO
Like most of you, I've known a couple of pathological liars in my lifetime.

They are "good" at telling half-truths... BUT they change their story slightly when they get confronted with some undeniable fact that comes up that doesn't match a detail in their story. They keep doing this modification to the story until it ends up completely different. Then the interrogator calls them out on this huge change in their story and they start to get nervous.

RA is classic half-truth kind of guy. Yes, he came forward HIMSELF saying he was in similar clothing and also actually put himself on the edge of the bridge.... but told 2 half-truths: 1) Not seeing the girls and 2) what time he left. But he COULD NOT explain the bullet. He didn't say your lab is wrong or you are making this up... he couldn't explain the ejector marks matching his gun. He couldn't think fast enough.. because he had already told them he had not been in the stretch of woods where the girls were found and had not lent his gun out to anyone over the years. He was caught in his lie and couldn't make up a scenario like "I lost some bullets one time out near the bridge... Libby and Abby must have picked them up and had them with them at the time."

IF this tip had not been lost or mis-filed, this case would have been solved in a matter of days. We all know that interrogators are trained to look for half-truths ("inconsistencies") in their stories.

IMO, this. The state isn’t concerned with much of anything after the murders, as it really doesn’t lend to proving guilt.

RA said he was home at the time of the murders, which was a lie. Afterwards, he could have said he drove somewhere on an errand or stopped by work or going to a bar or any other lie, just as he’s done since 2022. Driving around Delphi isn’t necessarily a sign of guilt. Security cameras were probably not the norm around town - some businesses are likely to have them but not likely many which are monitoring traffic. Today might be a different story in that regard.

ETA

After 3+ months, the best his appellate attorneys can do is rehash BS from the MTCE? 14 minutes isn’t removing RA from the bridge or the scene & the critical evidence should be laughed out of court again since no nexus was ever shown.

I would have liked to see any surveillance video of Richard Allen driving around after 4pm. I know he could say that he had decided to leave home again to go shopping or get fast food, but why not try to verify his story.

It is a little strange that if a person decides to go to the Monon High Bridge they take a longer roundabout way to the parking lot, but then for some reason does not take the same way home? We know his car was not seen on the Hoosier Harvest Store surveillance video after 4pm leaving.

I think there would have been at least one business on Main Street in Delphi that would have had surveillance video to identify his black 2016 Ford Focus SE and provide a time. If there was surveillance video taken from KK's case at a gas station in Delphi, maybe Richard Allen drove past the same gas station that day?

We still don't know what kind of camera HH had. He may have lucked to pass by it while it was resetting from recording another vehicle. It may have glitched.

We know he left. Because he's not there anymore. We know his car left. Because it's not there anymore. How he dodged the camera might forever remain a mystery, but if anybody knows a back way out of MHB, I bet RA does.

Why would he drive down Main street? His house is down i25.
Video from everywhere had to have been collected.

According to one of Richard Allen's confessions he would have driven down Main Street in Delphi to the CVS where he worked in order to dispose of the murder weapon before going home. It is theorized this could be one of the reasons why his 2016 black Ford Focus SE was not seen by the Hoosier Harvest Store surveillance video leaving after 4pm driving back home after leaving the old CPS building.

I think if Richard Allen claims after he left the Monon High Bridge trail that he went home and did not leave from home again before his wife got home, then his car being spotted driving around Delphi is important.

I thought from all the video police collected that somewhere in there would be Richard Allen's black 2016 Ford Focus SE driving around Delphi, IN sometime after 3:56pm, the time when SC saw him on 300 N walking back to his car at the old CPS building.

The route he took to Freedom Bridge was round about.
I don't recall any specific time or date given about when he tossed the box cutter at CVS, did he say a time?

I don’t believe he ever specified when he got rid of the box cutter, it was just stated in testimony that he disposed of it at a dumpster at the CVS where he worked. Once the transcripts are completed, we will likely know the exact details of his confessions.

I seriously doubt he stopped by CVS on his day off to get rid of the murder weapon in broad daylight, especially if he were still muddy & bloody. Quite likely those questions won’t be answered unless RA starts talking & he likely will not do that until he has exhausted his ability to appeal the convictions, if at all.

I also feel he drove home via the fastest route home to avoid any potential run ins with LE who might be out looking for the missing girls. I feel it’s highly likely he either saw or heard the family members gathering at Mears entrance as he was making his way back to his car.

On Tuesday, former Westville Correctional Facility Warden John Galipeau testified that Allen confessed to him at least two times in person and additionally in notes and requests to speak with the Chaplain and himself.

He testified that on March 5, 2023, he received a note from Allen that stated, “I am ready to officially confess to killing Abby and Libby ….” Galipeau said Allen apologized for what he had done.

“He mentioned he worked at CVS and disposed of a boxcutter in a CVS dumpster,” Galipeau said.

Not that I recall or have found either - at least that was reported via MSM.

I, too, feel he likely went home via SR25. No way he goes into town after the murders, especially right by the Sheriff’s station, which was close to CVS.

What if RA had indeed a confidant, who helped him to get to his home or elsewhere (despite bloody clothes) with an unknown car and that confidant picked up RA's car at the abandoned building? "They" (Idk, who) fooled around with phones; maybe "they" fooled around with cars also. In any case, the car with clues of bloody clothes wasn't examined by police, it seems. Why not and who owned it?
It's only speculation and brainstorming. Does somebody have an idea and can spin my thoughts to an end?

That would depend on witnesses seeing other cars parked at or near the CPS building. It would also likely require RA to have his cell phone turned on or maintain a tight schedule to meet that hypothetical partner. In his testimony to Wala he said he made his way back to his car, avoiding the trails - if were to assume he’s not lying about any of those details.

Is there any reference or link to being able to see transcripts of the actual RA confessions?

I wonder if other than being spooked by the van, if there was anything else disclosed by RA in his confessions that only the killer (and LE) would know?
No transcripts have been released AFAIK.

He corroborates BW thereby placing himself at MHB, and now specifically DTH, at 2:30-2:44.

He corroborated witness and video evidence that he was dressed like the man in the photo.

He INSISTS the photo couldn't have come from the girls' camera/phone. Brain spill IMO. He thinks he'd have seen the phone. Indirectly admitting he saw them.

Admitted to doing something with his gun. Which is consistent with a rack/slide/cartridge.

He admitted watching/waiting to make sure the girls didn't suffer. No one else knew they bled out, didn't die immediately. If they had died of their wounds immediately, there would be no reason to watch them.

He couldn't supply a credible narrative for where he was from 2:13 until 4/5pm. Except for placing himself still at MHB!

Admitting he saw the juveniles (specifically the three who were IMO of an age to garner his sick notice) and admitting he heard the van puts him at MHB at 1:30 and still there at 2:30-2:44.

He said he thought they were older (apparently that's why he didn't rape them. But they were undressed and there's no way they did that voluntarily so that's already SA, never minding what he may have done that was washed away as they were forced across the creek). How could RA determine whether they were too young or not too young unless he was looking at them? Same way he confirms it's the group of juveniles he saw. He describes the tallest one, and even deems her a babysitter, rather corroborating her presence and locking HIMSELF into the damning timeline.

He did not fill in a narrative for 2:14 to 2:32 and IMO that's another tell. He was DTH. And so were Abby and Libby, in a forced state of undress. It's another confession IMO, by omission. He doesn't want to say. Because it's awful. And it's why he killed them IMO.

IMO he confessed all over the place.

@Megnut Great summary and logic! Thanks!

I wonder if we get some other detail if and when transcripts get released on his jail confessions. Like did he say he covered them in sticks or dressed Abby in Libby's clothes, etc.

I doubt he'd ever confess to the forced undressing part... IMO he's holding dark secrets back.

I think Abby was wearing Libby's clothes because the girls were fast thinking. It was a way to transfer the phone.

Why was Abby dressed again at all?

Either RA was thinking about letting one or both girls going or he let Abby re-dress in order to gain compliance, with the promise he'd let her go (but never intending to).

I dint know why clothes were in the creek. They could have fallen in if one girl stumbled. Or RA insisted they get rinsed out.

But there weren't enough clothes after the crossing. It appears letting only one girl go was their only chance. I think it's possible they had him nearly convinced or, even though he knew he was going to kill them both, they thought for a second he really was going to let Abby go...

I don't think RA had anything to do, however, with WHICH clothes Abby was wearing. I think that was the girls' doing. They were trying to save themselves, by transferring the phone.

Maybe I am giving RA a lot more credit than he deserves but I think he had them both undress and then after he killed Libby he felt a tinge of remorse with the younger-looking of the two girls (Abby) being naked... and so redressed her with Libby's (wet) clothes after he killed her too.

Based on testimony, it's not possible. Abby's blood was pooled beneath her, where the phone was. If he dressed her after the injury, blood would have been all over her clothes. And he'd have found their phone.

Now he didn't know about the recording but still, it might lead to their discovery. He'd have pitched it in the creek for sure IMO.

I don't think he felt remorse either. Maybe shock that he'd done it but not remorse. Sorry maybe for the fall out but no real capacity or decency to acknowledge that depravity of what he did, including the parts we don't know about. Those 18 ugly minutes.

If he felt even an ounce of real regret, he'd confess. Not 60+ times. One time. Start to finish, full confession.

I think there's a misperception, to put it mildly, about his confessions this far, never mind the fallacy that he confessed due to psychosis and suggestion, that he's guilty because he confessed. The value of his confessions is not in "I did it" but in that multiple witnesses including Libby via her phone identified one man at the bridge between 1:30 and 5 dressed like RA/BG. LE knew the sketches, while seemingly disparate, described the one unknown male at the bridge. Upon discovery of the lost tip, RA did the one thing no one else could do, he tied all the witness testimony together by corroborating and filling out what they already knew!

As a witness, RA confirmed he was there at 1:30, still there at 2:30-2:44. He confirmed what the juveniles reported, confirmed with BB reported, confirmed he was dressed like bridge guy, confirmed BW's arrival, didn't confirm SC's sighting but also didn't give a credible account for how he left, although I think he did day he didn't take any trails, which in a round about way isn't inconsistent with SC's account. And while he denied seeing the girls, he indirectly admitted to seeing them (intended rape, thought they were older, etc, etc) and he had knowledge they didn't die immediately (he watched to make sure -- corroborating the ME's report). RA filled in a lot of details.

And he did such a good job as a witness that he convicted himself.

From released court documents, RA’s email address was slang for a certain type of foot fetish. I think that explains why certain pieces of the girls’ clothing were in the creek and why they were barefoot. RA did sexually assault them in his perverse way.
Unless he ever confesses we will never know what those precious children went through really, but that’s how I see it now after seeing the court documents.
I doubt he will ever truly confess. I think RA shut down caring at all about it when his wife and defense attorneys insisted he shut up and go to trial. I doubt he even is following his appeal. What a waste of time and money

Agreed.

18 minutes is a long time.

I think Abby and Libby begged for their lives, and he either toyed with them or briefly considered it (which is why Abby found dressed).

I think it's possible that, cold, Abby was standing with her arms inside her sweatshirt, protecting her core when RA injured Libby, and Abby fainted, the phone landing beneath her as she fell. Libby starts to run, RA reaches her by the tree and injures her mortally before injuring Abby mortally. Hell awful. Such vulnerable victims.

Demented killer.
