Don’t think she is.

Martell has been on the ground searching and providing insights to police when needed, he has said. It has been reported that the children’s mother, Brooks-Murray left the home the day after the search began, ending communication with Martell, and has been staying with her mother in Wentworth, N.S.

Martell said he is more than happy with the thoroughness of the investigation, saying people have put their lives on hold to search for the children.

He is “grateful” that police are going back and looking through the densest parts of the forest again.

Not across the board ... s. My kids' elementary school in Ontario is pretty aggressive about following up. First, I get automated calls and emails, and then, if I don't respond, the administrators call and leave messages.

I'm totally fearful of forgetting to report an absence after the time I let it get to that. ^^
Oh sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, my school does the same if missed reporting.

I meant if reported absent for a few days in a row, there’s no follow up at our school. As long as it’s logged in school messenger/powerschool.

You’re saying your daughter was off for a week and you did not inform the school or app or return the calls for whatever reason and the school just left it?
No no. I did inform them.

I misunderstood. If informed via school messenger/powerschool app, the school doesn’t follow up at all.

If missed reporting the absence, within half hour there’s an automated phonecall followed by physical calls and emails from the secretary or principal.

I really flip flop! This article makes me think she’s the guilty one and trying to pin it on him. I really don’t know. The public just does not know enough, truthful or otherwise, with who was where doing what leading up to the disappearance.

Do you really flip flop on him vs. her being the guilty party?

Not being snarky, genuinely curious your thoughts.

I can't really see someone taking the fall for this, imo.

I flip flop on them both being guilty, or maybe her being a victim of domestic abuse. They got her tucked away pretty quickly. I think if she still has Meadow in her care the facts as we know them would line up with this theory.

Because if she were just asked to take the youngest elsewhere because the trailer wasn't safe she wouldn't need to cut DM off. If both guilty you'd think they'd want to stick together.

I think if she had the goods on him by now there woukd be an arrest. Police don’t typically stand by and wait.

However it’s possible he is covering up for something that occurred involving her that’s even more negligent than what they admitted to. For example while he was at work she left the two oldest children totally unattended, when she came home they were gone. Afterward she took off out of guilt and left her partner to face it all. That’s just a guess I have no idea but that he’s hardly mentioned her name nor disparaged her for not offering assistance in the search is admirable IMO. Maybe he still loves her, protecting her as the mother of their child, maybe he feels pity for her, I don’t know. I can’t quite a sense of what she’s all about. But I can’t help feeling she is central to the mystery. JMO

They won't arrest anyone until they're as confident as possible they can get a conviction, preferably with bodies.

I don't think either is protecting the other, just themselves.

I definitely lean more towards them both being guilty and her having a better support system, I just think her being a victim is still plausible with the facts we have so far.

Hopefully they’re looking for their kids if they’re innocent.

Most of us would spend every waking moment looking for the kids if we believed they were still in the woods.

But what if he find the kids? What then? Even if he spends 10,000 hours looking, won't he be blamed for their disappearance if he finds them? Won't people say he found them because he knew where they were?

I wouldn't care what people said, but if the law came down hard, then ... I donno.

Then why not wait and report them missing Sunday? Give yourselves even more time to compose yourselves and get your stories straight, if you needed to. Why rush? IMO
Maybe like has been mentioned up thread by others, they forgot to call the kids out of school Friday morning, so the school.instead called them, the panic set in...just theorizing, u asked why the rush??? Just an idea, who knows imho moo
ETA where oh where are Lily & Jack?!?!?!

I've wondered this, too. Someone suggested they maybe visited families or something on the weekend and would have to explain missing kids.

Public perception doesn’t actually matter. Only the kids do if you’re innocent. The police are pros. They’re not watching conspiracies on TikTok to make arrests, they’re following real leads.

Taking the child and living elsewhere may have been a prerequisite to keeping the wee one with her, ordered by Child Protective Services.

Yes, but not going no contact and blocking Daniel, unless he was a specific threat.

That's an unusual thing to do at that time, and was done very quickly.

Moo

I can't speak about whether or not it is unusual, but this scenario came up for a couple living near to me when CPS determined that the home was an unsafe environment for the children. The mother could keep the children if she broke off the relationship with her partner and find a home elsewhere. Otherwise the children would be put into foster care.
