CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lilly Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025 #3

The search and rescue was suspended because they no longer believed the children could be alive.
I would still hope they would continue searching, though perhaps scaled back, so they may hopefully be able to recover their remains - out of respect for the children (and possibly their family) and/or gor evidentiary reasons. By giving up they will mean having no physical evidence if this is a crime.

They'll want to find them alive or otherwise.

They stopped for a reason and are "formally" interviewing 35 people for a reason.

True, but the search and rescue crews look for living subjects. When that is suspended, then the search changes to a recovery effort with a different type of search and different searchers. They are engaged when there is some evidence of where to look.

Yes, that's how it works if foul play is involved as well.

And I don't think they'd announce they're formally interviewing 35 people because they think the kids walked themselves somewhere.

But that's jmo.

“We're exploring all avenues in this missing persons investigation.”

I’m certain everyone expects no less of the RCMP considering this is now the 11th day.

I agree, it is doubtful the detectives conducting the interviews are one and the same who would be involved in any recovery efforts.

I admire your faith in the parents. You are a kinder person than I. I can't get passed not seeing Jack by 10 am, much less all the other oddities of which there are many.

The police don't have to announce they're conducting interviews. They did so for a reason. They chose the words they did for a reason.

Agreed.
It appears they're turning up the heat ?
Imo.

I’d sure hope the interview announcement isn’t to say the RCMP haven’t conducted ANY interviews yet because people who have information to offer are surely becoming riled up at being ignored. And locals talk, people are probably wondering why the RCMP have repeatedly talked about this missing person investigation but aren’t talking to people with information. So IMO the reason for interview announcement the RCMP’s assurance they indeed are moving forward with their investigation by interviewing 35 people.

I don’t believe the announcement is any sort of intentional intimidation tactic. If it is, well too bad. Everyone ought to know police investigations involve talking to people.

If I may be maudlin for a moment.

I'm not a parent but I like kids and I enjoy interacting with little kids, especially ones around Lily and Jack's age. They are endlessly curious and say whatever is on their minds, no filters.

It just breaks my heart that these two precious souls are most likely no longer in the world.

They look so happy in their school photos. They should be climbing on that bus tomorrow morning.

Out there alone somewhere. Jake might not even have a pull-up on.

It's devastating, every single time.

i keep thinking that yes, it’s true that it doesn’t seem like the mom and stepdad don’t seem like they would win parents of the year. but that doesn’t have to mean they actively did something to the children. a not so great home environment would also make the children more vulnerable to someone else close to the family doing something to them, the children wandering off, etc.

either way it seems like this won’t have a happy ending :( i hope there will at least be answers.

I always thought I was a horrible parent when I would read about a missing kid and the parents were able go describe what they were wearing. I would think, “I have no idea what my kids were wearing - except maybe their shoes.” I guess maybe it was trying to get up and out of the house early with young kids and having to feed/take care of multiple pets before leaving the house.
lol yeah no other parents do that, that must be it

Maybe it’s that your kids got dressed and ready on their own? Mine are dorks who I have to badger and often assist, even at bedtime. I also see them right before bed and at breakfast so I note what they are wearing.

They haven’t given up - they will be searching specific locations.

IMO the police now believe this is a homicide so that search becomes completely different to a search for two children who just ‘wandered off’

It obviously opens up a much larger search area as a car could’ve been involved.. it’s also likely they’ll be buried somewhere rather than left out in the open.
