CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lilly Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025 #3

MOO - the bus driver said Jack liked to have his attention. I have ADHD and my son has some autistic traits. He's 20 now and studying for a degree but when he was Jack's age as soon as he opened his eyes he also opened his mouth and shouted for me. It seems odd that only one child came into their mum's bedroom and it wasn't the attention seeking one. I wonder if mum had a bad night with a possibly teething toddler and the other adult present was supposed to be looking after the kiddos while she had a sleep? That would explain her leaving and cutting him off completely?

Autistic/autistic traits/ADHD children are very often hypermobile - both my son and I are. My son was late to toilet train overnight as the ligaments in his body which are suposed to support muscles just don't do their job. He would take off the much hated pull up as soon as he was awake as he was dry during the day for well over a year before he was dry at night. My son also has problems walking long distances (so do I but my childhood was a long time ago so I'm trying to write this from a young person's perspective) as walking makes his legs hurt. Again the muscles have no support from ligaments so muscles have to work harder. Walking on uneven ground is especially hard for people with hypermobility syndrome. I have a friend who is a consultant specialising in autism and I asked her if she'd ever seen a child with autism that wasn't hypermobile and she said no.

Lilly's screaming was also mentioned by several people. If the kiddos were lost and people were shouting their names I feel like she could have made herself heard or even if she was just lost she'd have been screaming. As for the boots - mine wore moon boots for 12 months when he was 3. Right through summer as well. He wouldn't entertain any other footwear.

If I was him I'd have checked that the little one's weren't with his mother before I went tearing off on a wild goose chase. She could have spotted them outside and asked if they wanted something to eat or they could have knocked to see if she was awake. I did also wonder if their bio dad could have taken them. As I said MOO and why would they even take off for the woods? Roadway maybe if they decided they'd go to school after all?

Do we actually know that they "broke up"?

Apparently, according to stepdad, his partner left without explaining and blocked him on Facebook which then 'erased' her 'in a relationship with DM' designation---which is like 'breaking up' on social media.
We know that she left to stay with family members.
Forgive me if I have missed something as although I have been following the case, I have just logged on here after an absence of a few years.
What we do know as per step father is that Lily came into their bedroom a number of times that morning.
I have not heard any elaboration on that interaction in terms of what Lily was hoping/looking for.
It was morning time, so I assume she wondered about breakfast? I'm sure she could grab cereal or something, but she may have just wanted to know what was happening that day. She was home sick from school---so she was likely bored and wondered if there was something to do that day?

Do we know if the mother was home at the time the kids disappeared? She is likely young enough that she might have been out working. I haven't seen it verified either way.

Not sure if this has been posted, I don’t recall reading this

Nova Scotia RCMP’s search for missing children re-examining areas around siblings’ home as police plead for tips

“Local RCMP are being assisted by the Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, a branch of the Mounties that investigates homicides, suspicious deaths and missing persons cases where foul play is suspected.”
RCMP's search for missing children re-examining the area around siblings' home?

As in the brother's home? [I can't access the article]

I've mentioned this before, but it keeps getting lost in the gazillion posts. I haven't seen it verified either. It was a Friday morning, so it's possible she was working. LE haven't mentioned she was there, so I suspect she wasn't there. They haven't made any statements such as "his mother says they didn't come over to see her that morning" or "she heard her son calling the kids and came outside to help look for them."

I'm curious to know if the family has any evening or morning routines that involve his mother. They may not, but it would add to the timeline if they do.

I can't access the story either, but I think it's the children's home ("siblings' home" is plural, so they're calling them siblings instead of children; brother's home would be singular "sibling's home"). Other articles have said they're looking closer to their home now, basically starting over from the place they disappeared from.

ETA: I see Sarahlou added a link while I was responding, but it has a different headline, so I'm not sure if it's the same story as you're talking about.

Yes for some reason it's not in the archive link.

I just looked at the original link again and was able to copy this:

Nova Scotia RCMP‘s major crime investigators are advising police to return to specific areas around the home of Lilly and Jack Sullivan in a rural hamlet of Pictou County, to try and figure out what happened to the children who went missing without a trace a week and a half ago.

The recent Globe & Mail article says that Staff Sergeant Curtis MacKinnon of the Pictou County District RCMP stated that, based on input from major crimes investigators, they are re-examining areas of interest like culverts, wells, and areas around the residence - probably for the third or fourth time, he said.

Staff Sgt. MacKinnon said they are exploring all avenues and it is still a missing persons investigation, with input from highly trained major crime and forensic investigators.

Edited to remove some confusion (on my part)

'HALIFAX — Nova Scotia RCMP say family members of two missing children are among those identified for formal interviews as police investigate the siblings' disappearance'

''More than 180 tips had been received from the public, and officers had identified 35 people to formally interview, MacKinnon said, adding that those people included community members and "those closest to the children."

“We’re exploring all avenues in this missing persons investigation,” MacKinnon said. “We have officers from multiple disciplines dedicated to finding Lilly and Jack, including highly trained RCMP major crime and forensic investigators.''

The recent Globe & Mail article says she was home.

(paraphrased)

It says that she (MBM) and her partner DM were asleep in their bedroom with their 16-month old daughter.
The mum called 911 at around 10am and reported the children missing.

The article also says that Staff Sergeant Curtis MacKinnon of the Pictou County District RCMP stated that, based on input from major crimes investigators, they are re-examining areas of interest like culverts, wells, and areas around the residence - probably for the third or fourth time, he said.

I think posters are speaking about Daniel's mother who lived next to them.

Sorry for any confusion. We are talking about DM's mother. The conversation is in relation to a post asking why DM didn't go ask his mother if the kids were with her.

Oh sorry. My mistake. I will edit that out.

They haven’t given up - they will be searching specific locations.

IMO the police now believe this is a homicide so that search becomes completely different to a search for two children who just ‘wandered off’

It obviously opens up a much larger search area as a car could’ve been involved.. it’s also likely they’ll be buried somewhere rather than left out in the open.
Bbm.
Agreed.
Wishing this scenario could be different, I'm angry that this (i.e., maybe foul play ?) is even be a possibility. 🤬
However here we are.

Interested in whom LE are going to interview.
Besides teachers, bus drivers and anyone who interacted with Jack and Lilly, wondering if the interviews will include friends/associates of MBM and DM ?

Ita with the part I've bolded !
Which is why LE need to check any and all footage of vehicular traffic in the days leading up to the 911 call.
Omo.

I can read the article and it doesn't mention the brother's home at all.

"Staff Sergeant Curtis MacKinnon of the Pictou County District RCMP said in an interview Tuesday that police are executing plans right now based on input from major crime investigators, including re-examining various areas of interest near the trailer where the children were reported missing. “They may include culverts, wells or areas around the residence that need to be re-looked at,” he said. “It will probably be the third or fourth time.”

RSBM

According to the Globe & Mail article those 35 folks have already been interviewed:

"In a news release Tuesday, Nova Scotia RCMP said they have interviewed 35 people, including those closest to the two children, as well as community members. Police said they received and are following up on more than 180 tips from the public."

They look so happy in their school photos. They should be climbing on that bus tomorrow morning.

Out there alone somewhere. Jake might not even have a pull-up on.

It's devastating, every single time.
I wondered if there was ever any confirmation that the mother called the school saying that they would be absent?
