Mentioning they could be abducted by offering them food or water is kind of strange too.

Yeah, basic necessities!

It’s an interesting point about the donation being set up. It’s rare now for anyone to have a public incident and a family friend or family member not set up a fundraiser. No sign of that here from what I’ve seen though. Might not mean anything. Might spotlight the dysfunction behind the scenes.
I suspect she is on mother’s allowance or in receipt of some sort of benefits that prohibits her from that sort of thing. The fed/provincial government would view this sort of thing as income and then would claw back what they “overpaid” her. Both provincial and federal offer tax breaks based on her income/combined income if she identified as common-law. So, imo, she would be reassessed.

The ‘I don’t know why anyone would WANT to take them’ stands out for me. Woah!
This stood out for me more because it is pretty obvious why some people would want to abduct children.

You’re point which I think is more leaning into him not wanting them around is an interesting point as well.

Or even to see mom and dad... who are presumably in the home right behind them. Moo

Exactly. Talking of them as if they are stray animals....

Yeah let’s drive you up your drive to see your mum and dad.

No, donations/gifts like that aren’t taxable.

Yeah it’s honestly the strangest turn of phrase in a devastating situation. I cannot make head nor tail of anything he says.

Backpack would now be brown ——— how? The brown is emphasised also, he pauses.

He then contradicts this and goes on about abduction. It’s one or the other.

Same with the mom - signaling abductions but then says about them being wet and hopefully warm now with the sun. Almost like they know they are dirty/outside but want everyone to think abduction and that why the conflicting things slip out

If you had two kids super willing to talk to and get into anyone's car you'd think you would be hypervigilant about putting them in a situation where that could happen.

All the comments about the children chatting to anyone and would happily go off with a stranger were said for a purpose as were the remarks about abduction and wanting an amber alert.

Both parents denied online claims that the children were non-verbal. I wonder who would know that information and share it online, even if it were true.

Hopefully somewhere warm is CRAZY too. They were literally gone a few days when she said this

the now debunked online rumor as to non verbal is attributed to a non immediate family member of MBM's if I remember correctly. Who knows, but multiple others who have been interviewed in the press have also indicated these were verbal children. Mom, Daniel, bus driver, etc.

I would definitely seek professional advice before setting up a campaign in Canada.
My understanding is there is relief for families facing tragic circumstances like DM/MBM, if not via the provincial government available benefits, then via a funeral home who self-identifies. My personal observation is a funeral home steps up to relieve the financial burden. JMO

Cash gifts are not taxable income in Canada. That being said a valid reason would need to be given for why she requires financial support and what would that be, considering she’s apparently living with her mother and possibly draws benefits from the band. It can be embarrassing for the recipient if a fundraiser is set up and donations don’t come.

And my point about it was that it is usually a family member or family friend who sets it up as “a nice thing to do” for the people but none have. Likewise you haven’t seen an aunt/uncle/close family friend on the news talking about how great the kids were and how much they want them to come home.

Maybe nobody wants to admit being associated re hassled for inside info? Wouldn’t blame them.

I hate feeling this way but I wonder if it's because there was a shortage of food in the house so they were always hungry. I'm really hoping this isn't so.
