He said in his manifesto that he didn’t have a lookout (no help). He mentioned “elementary social engineering,” which implies he obtained that information from some unwitting person who was privy to details.

These guys invariably work alone (as their motive is personal), and the phone was probably an effort to blend in.

If he had help they’d know. They would have traced BT’s movements on surveillance footage, and it would be clear if he was being followed.

Help just fits in absolutely no way.
Elementary social engineering entails deception and misstatement. :) Maybe 75% of the "manifesto" is true and some crucial parts are false. Just like he used layers and feints in NYC.

there was a source which said he did and it might have been on his LinkedIn but I cannot find it of course- it actually said 2014 IMO. More attention to the facliitues now Luigi Mangione’s family operated nursing home empire that was cited for abuse and health violations
He may have had denials from a health care system -- like acutename, I remember reading that somewhere but don't remember the source. LM may also have had friends or people he met during his travels that had suffered from denials from the health care system. Or, perhaps something happened in his life that caused him to begin reading extensively about the problems with health care in the US. IMO

Causing fear to others doesn’t mean it’s domestic terrorism, though.

Based on the information we have, I just don’t see how shooting the CEO of a public corporation rises to the level of domestic terrorism. There’s certainly intimidation, but not of the general civilian population—the intimidation is towards a very small subset of people (executives of public healthcare corporations). IMO, not enough for a domestic terrorism charge (at least at this time).
Appreciate you taking the time to help us understanding this legal stuff.

I agree. At least in the UK, business dress has become much less formal since the pandemic. Even (London) City lawyers might keep a suit in the office and change into it for high level meetings with clients but in the office it's mostly jeans and shirts/t-shirts/sweatshirts. I've seen several CEOs and CFOs give corporate presentations to institutional investors in recent years in business casual dress.
I also think his light blue jacket may not have relevance to the shooting. But it may give a clue into Brian Thompson’s personality. That maybe he wasn’t afraid to wear brighter colors, to have a little more fun with it. There’s a well known Wall Street analyst named Dan Ives who goes to the extreme, wearing very bright colors like yellow slacks, bright printed shirts, and turquoise sportcoat…all at once! lol So, yeah, times have changed.

And "social engineering" doesn't mean capturing restricted information (finding out where BT is or is going) as much it means influencing the behavior of people by conning them, in this case, getting BT to do something or go somewhere.

There's just no evidence of that at all. I've argued from the beginning that this was some lone attacker who originated from the East coast, and had a gripe with the insurance industry. He was literally telling us that with the messages on the rounds and the Monopoly money.

These attacks are always some lone lunatic with grudge, and everything here points to that being the case.

The Daily Mail is saying that BT had a security detail in New York of internal UHC security team, if true that makes it all the more strange that BT left his hotel alone wearing a brightly coloured jacket and minus his bodyguards

He would say that though, I hope it comes out who that call was to and why
And, maybe I've missed it -- but have they determined what happened to the e-bike yet?

Long since stolen, I doubt an ebike would last a minute in a city like London, New York etc

The Standard on Friday obtained the missing-person report on Luigi Mangione, raising new questions about when law enforcement first suspected he might be the killer of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO.

With all due respect, I disagree.
BT was going over early in the morning a couple hours before the meeting was supposed to start and the colored jacket doesn't stand out to me either, imo.
It was an event for investors who you want to get excited for profits and get them excited for what they have invested in. The blue color would stand out and I've seen mentioned that it was the main color of UHC.

He hasn’t worked for TrueCar since 2023, and I think that’s the last job we know about.

He more recently worked at the car-buying website TrueCar, but has not worked there since 2023, the head of the Santa Monica, California-based company confirmed to the AP.
Where did his money come from?

His widow/estranged wife said he had been receiving threats, IF what the Mail is saying is true and he had bodyguards in NYC then why didn’t he use them? either he was very casual about the threats or arranged his own hit

"Inmates at the Pennsylvania prison where Luigi Mangione is being held conducted a wild interview with a TV reporter outside, screaming answers out the windows and flickering the lights to signal yes or no.

NewsNation journalist Alex Caprariello was reporting on Mangione’s conditions at the State Correctional Institution in Huntington, Pennsylvania, Wednesday when inmates, who were watching him on TV, yelled out, “Luigi’s conditions suck.”"

LM may agree. No McDonalds on the inside. MOO

Some details I hadn’t seen before:

After arriving in the city, Mangione got a taxi and "immediately goes to a McDonald's in the vicinity of the Hilton hotel," said Kenny. From there, he went to the hostel where he was staying until the day of the shooting he stands accused of. Kenny said Mangione "was coming and going on a regular basis" from the hostel, and was seen on security camera footage with an e-bike battery.

Some time shortly after he allegedly shot Thompson, Mangione took a cab up to Washington Heights, near the George Washington Port Authority Bus Terminal, according to Kenny.

"From there we have him. We believe he may have taken the subway back to Penn Station and then made his way to Philadelphia from there," the NYPD chief told NBC New York.

He may have been aboard an A or C train to get down to the midtown transit hub.

How Mangione got to Pittsburgh and then Altoona is still not known, but police know how he may have paid for his travels.

"As far as how he was getting by when he was arrested, he had a substantial amount of cash on him. He was getting money from an ATM, everything he did he was paying for in cash," Kenny said, noting it was "one large withdrawal from the bank itself."

Mangione had more than $5,000 in cash on him at the time of his arrest, all in $100 bills, according to Kenny. Where the withdrawal took place was still being investigated.

Prison is meant to be uncomfortable, what were they expecting? soft pillows and lobster thermidore? can’t do the time? don’t do the crime

@BrianJohnson : So true regarding the, "Can't do the time ? Don't do the crime."
LM had to know this, and also had time to plan -- and I'm certain he understood the consequences.
But...consequences be darned.
He was going to go through with his murderous assassination.
Imo.
