first time I've seen reference to both these things by a friend:

“I knew he was hurt some time ago and that led to the painkiller thing, and then the whole family issue.”

sorry if this has been discussed - I'm just trying to catch up

Mangione’s new attorney will be taking on his case as investigators have amassed new evidence in recent days, with police telling CNN this week the 3D-printed gun he had on him when he was arrested matches the three shell casings found at the crime scene in Midtown Manhattan. His fingerprints also matched those investigators found on items near the scene.

The fingerprint and firearms disclosures come as authorities dig into Mangione, who remains in custody in Pennsylvania on gun-related charges as he fights extradition to New York. As of Friday, however, there were indications Mangione “may waive” his extradition next week, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Time line data:
He posted in early April about the gear he brought on a two-month backpacking trip through Asia that included some cross-country motorcycling, saying he had found “the perfect balance between minimalism and practicality.”

————-
When a neighbor saw him about three months ago, he hinted at medical issues, which might have been motivation for murder

Mom reported he was not answering his phone and his voicemail was full! And his last known work contact was no longer in business. Mom was now in panic mode.
not the most important fact but TrueCar is still in business.... even hiring people...it was just LM's office that closed and if he was working remotely, his family might have just been confused:

The family of the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare’s CEO had reported him missing last month, and his mother told police her son could be the person seen in surveillance photos one day before his arrest, law enforcement sources told NBC News.

The tip from San Francisco police came on Dec. 6, and police contacted Mangione’s mother two days later, on Sunday, two law enforcement sources familiar with the matter told NBC News. She told investigators the man in the image could be Mangione, they said.

Manifesto?
What I find missing from his “writings” is any understanding about what he sees as the issue.
Healthcare is a big general word. Is his issue with doctors? Hospitals? Costs of lab tests or prescription drugs? Insurance vs insurance coverage? Types of insurance. All of it?

Does he want National Health? He probably wouldn’t like that either - as it’s not “on demand”.

His life expectancy issue is not explored (USA very close to UK with national healthcare - obvious that cost or insurance not a factor)

Is his issue - CEO pay? Bean counters? Shareholders? Profits from healthcare

Or does he want to kill executives?

IMO … he has not researched “insurance” and “healthcare” and made any coherent argument, he has not drawn any meaningful conclusions for his “audience”. It’s not a manifesto, it’s some thoughts which he thinks are grandiose and original and punctuated with murder.

IMO … LM suffering disordered thoughts, paranoia and obsessional thoughts about BT. Not a visionary. Not a leader. He has become a cold murderer who shot his victim in the back … a coward. His murder changes nothing. He is a failure.

he did say his issue is not with the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists etc.

Wow. Very different outcome from, say, Brian Laundrie’s mother. Although it was probably more of a simple yes/no situation given that they already had the SFPD tip. Not exactly the same as calling in a tip of her own.

I do wonder what circumstances led them to report him missing. He's an adult; adult children sometimes do cut their families out of their lives. I'm really surprised the SFPD, which probably has its hands full, followed up on this unless the parents gave reasons for their concern that we don't know about.

I read that SFPD, having received the missing person's report, thought the images shown of the NYC suspect resembled him enough that they sent his name to NYPD.

Yes, the MP Flyer was location specific for closure and not corporate wide. Sorry that was not clear.

I’ve been thinking about other guys that have gone off the deep end, and seem to have it all made in life,
Philipp Marcoff the pre med student called the Craigslist killer, then there is
Russell Williams the Canadian Air Force officer for rape and murder, just amazes me that this stuff happens to theses guys

Crikey!

I am absolutely revolted by the people who are mocking, doxxing, and threatening the McDonald's worker who called 911.

That person did the right thing. LM is (allegedly) a murderer and needed to be taken off the streets for public safety. Since he apparently didn't discard the murder weapon, he may well have been planning to kill someone else.

LM is NO hero. The McDonald's caller is the hero.

The McDonald's caller is not the villain here. LM is the villain here.

I bet all those piling on (and worse) to the McDonald's worker might have quite a different view if it had been their friend or loved one gunned down.

It's beyond disgusting. That person did the right thing and now their life is being ruined.
I'll say it again - the McDonald's caller saved investigators countless hours of work sorting through tips and camera footage to determine where LM went from the Port Authority bus station near the George Washington bridge. Until today, they assumed that he'd taken a bus, but they just discovered today that he'd taken a train. If it were not for that McDonald's employee, they might very well still be searching for LM. I hope that employee is being protected. She is indeed the hero in this story. MOO

address does not really exist but the street does

(A bunch of people named M Rosario exist in NJ... not sleuthing them but it is a somewhat common name on Google)

I was just curious how much each ID might cost since Mangione was found to be carrying more than the fake MR identification he used at the hostel.

New York police officials have said Mangione was carrying the gun and the same fake ID the suspected shooter had used to check into a New York hostel, along with a passport and other fraudulent IDs.
