Are those "orange tennies" or prison footwear?
At first I thought those white stripes on his sleeves (first pic) made the sweater some polo shirt or one of those weird sports they play in the ivies.
But no, turned out to be the fingers of the cops forming the stripes.

Don't know about the orange footgear, I just assumed tennies.

I've been wondering if the involuntary facial movements could be related to medication he may be taking. Just speculation, but based on the drastic change in demeanor of defendant since his raging outburst upon arrest.
Ok this is what I was thinking as well. Either withdrawal or beginning taking an SSRI can have face twitches. Lexapro made me involuntarily make a sneering face - wrinkling my nose. MOO

I only mentioned this because when LM appeared in federal court wearing street clothes rather than prison attire, one of the MSM articles that was posted mentioned that the orange shoes he was wearing were orange prison shoes. So I wonder if that is mandatory for some reason.

Thanks for posting this.

Nothing more to say about LM other than he has his head up high and looks like he thinks he is important.
Ugh.
A little early to tell-- but here's hoping he gets life without parole !
The smirk will fade soon enough.
i was thinking the same thing! i thought we weren’t going to see him for a while. but i guess they can take pictures and film in the court hallways, just not in the actual courtroom
Bbm.
Considering what we've seen of LM thus far, that's prob. a good thing !
Imo.
Omo.

The only difference between he and Kaczynski is that LM was born and bred in the days of social media so - in a twisted and sad way - he was able to accomplish his goal according to society of certain age and the hive mind.
MOO
And he isn't a disheveled hermit living in a hut without running water! He's also young and good looking.

This part too.
I think this very much has 'helped' his cause.
IMO, I do not think if he was like Kaczynski in both cause and looks that he would be getting this same attention or celebration of his actions.

Not important in the bigger scheme of things, but when LM appeared in federal court and wasn't wearing prison clothes, one MSM source did note that he was wearing prison shoes along with his street attire -

The only aesthetic hint that Mangione was on the hook for a violent crime were his shackled ankles and jail-issued neon slip-ons.

As my parents would have said, he has delusions of grandeur. I think he had high expectations for himself in adulthood. He didn’t understand the grind that it takes for most. It seems he wanted to make his mark in the world without putting in the work. Mix that with mental illness, that’s what’s on my bingo card.

Five pages or more to yet to catch up on the thread, but this footage stopped me cold. It's absurd.

I wonder if Lin-Manuel Miranda will write the book, the libretto, and direct the musical. I mean, for eff's sake, why all the showboating? A lot of egos are involved here, it seems to me. And not just - or even - his.

IMO, LM is aware of the spectacle that are these staged perp walks. I think that's plainly evident in this footage. Highly subjective, of course, but for a split second I saw him observing it, bemused.

Ugh...what a spectacle...

LM is wearing matching outfits with his attorney today, wonder if they do this on purpose. could be something that people might find cute and likeable. or maybe i’m reading too much into things and they didn’t actually coordinate their outfits, lol

I get shade of the "Preppy Murder", the Menendez Brothers (Even though found guilty, they're in the news again) and OJ all rolled into one.

But it's just "that look". And the sweaters. I've seen numerous trials where high-power defense attorneys put defendants in sweaters. It seems to work. It makes them look "soft". Expect to see lots of sweaters.

And now the trial might be filmed? Ugh....The media will dub it, the "trial of the century"

Tell that to the the NY mayor and his cronies who seem to just love giving him utterly nutso attention when they're surrounding him parading him about when they're in swat gear like he's Hannibal Lecter
Or like he's a "VIP"....

Yes of course, what do they call that, collusion? One of the links I posted yesterday showed that the rate that UHC denies post acute care to elderly stroke victims increased drastically under BT. Iirc ~7% denial in 2019 to ~22 % denial under BT.
This is why, in my opinion, we're seeing so much sympathy for LM. The health insurance system in this country is broken, and while I do not condone shooting CEOs, I do hope this event will open hearts and minds to our fundamentally flawed insurance system and lead to positive changes.

LM was angry and he (symbolically) severed the head of the serpent.

LM must be held accountable for killing BT. There's no way around that.

But who do we hold accountable for patients who suffer and die because they are denied lifesaving care? Someone has killed them, too. Or, at least contributed to their deaths.

Who in our country gets to decide the value of a life?

And isn't the justice for Brian Thompson surely the self same justice that victims of all the other firearm killers in the state of NY get? Murder 2 + relevant firearm charges?
RSBM for focus...

If that is the law in NY, then that's what LM should be charged with. No more and no less.

Because his victim, BT, was no more nor no less valuable than any other victim of gun violence in the state.

Yes, but is a public hospital going to provide Elective Surgery like back surgery if you're indigent? I'd think they'd only provide surgery on an emergency basis. Walking in and saying you have pain won't get you triaged as an emergency in an ER.
They have to take them. Back pain could mean a lot of serious medical problems. A simple MRI would tell them pretty much everything they would need to know. Sometimes surgery is emergency necessary.

At the present time, knowing what I think the law shows he should be charged with 2nd degree murder. Let the jury decide, and let the state retry if one or more juries are hung. Imo

But I'm also not opposed to his being charged with bogus terrorism, as I think we might see a whole jury nullify. And, in the meantime more people will recount how gma was refused help for a stroke. After paying premiums for decades. And decades. Imo

Mangione's next state court date is February 21.

Also, during his time in court today, LM apparently conferred with his attorney and a PRISON CONSULTANT who works with defendants on confinement issues. Maybe to get the civilian clothes for today's hearing, etc. Interesting addition to the defense team. LM has his own prison consultant. I guess he can afford it.

Mangione pleaded not guilty to all charges during the short hearing, in which he conferred with defense lawyer Karen Agnifilo and prison consultant Craig Rothfeld, who works with defendants on confinement issues.

Mangione appeared to be fully engaged with his defense team on Monday as they signed various papers pertaining to the defendant's current federal incarceration at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Large caps for emphasis by me

I wonder if LM is using the same prison consultant as Sean Combs. My guess is that he probably is, since they are both housed in the same federal detention center and the consultant is likely being retained by LM's legal team for both cases.

He's got quite a belt full of skills from here

Looks like he helps defense teams and courts with a whole bunch of things

He apparently has experience with celebrity clients. He was the prison consultant for Harvey Weinstein.

The website you linked says that Craig Rothfeld is the founder of Inside Outside Ltd.

He's not inexpensive, I am sure.
