His roommates said he was staying there, and talked about him not showing his face and even eating with his mask on.
And yet he had no problem with lowering his mask, exposing his entire face, directly under the camera, w/a big smile even, in the hostel registration desk "flirting" pic?!?
How does that make sense, when the rest of the time, whenever anyone could see him, he kept his mask up, even going so far as to keep it up while eating, only lowering it to take a bite and then immediately back up again, which sounds like it would be really annoying to do.

Maybe the exposed face pic was when he first arrived, and not until later did he realize that he needed to keep his mask up at all times. Or maybe since he had just arrived, he just wasn't yet used to having to make sure he kept his face covered, but got better at doing that after being there awhile. That makes sense, imo.

Not a great job (and admittedly it's a bit "uncanny valley") because I did this in like two minutes on my laptop, but I photoshopped the new image of the eyes from the cab on top of the "flirting" smile to give us a rough idea of what the perp looks like.
Whoa. Nice job.

Thanks to Covid, a lot of people are still doing this so it's not necessarily seen as odd or out of place anymore.

I don't see it any more. Sometimes attachments get deleted if there is no link to media. Maybe that's what happened.

Just some random thoughts as I follow this case:
1. Perhaps part of his plan is to wait until the reward gets higher, then have someone come forward to ID him. All while he is in another country out of reach.
2. I think he very well could have put other bags of clothes in CP during his days of scouting to grab while the escape. Including something in the bus stop.
3. It will be interesting to find out his movements the 10 days prior. As I am sure LE are on that already.
4. Question: on the second picture that was released recently, why did the taxi driver take the picture of him walking after he got out? Did he know something?
5. I wonder if the shooter had any prior interaction (even if just passing by) BT, like to plant a small tracking device on him. That could explain how he knew he left the hotel
#4 - The taxi cab had a camera.I believe most of them in NY do. JMO

BT was wealthy by most standards but certainly not a billionaire.

Close enough, for jazz.

Wallmine reported that Thompson’s net worth allegedly included over 72,000 units of UnitedHealth Group stock, valued at around $42.9 million, and stock options that were worth over $21 million. The Daily Mail reported that Thompson earned around $10 million per year with his salary at United Healthcare.

Regarding 4, it’s likely a still from the (multi-angle) dash cam.

Regarding 5, LE would have found it by now, or during autopsy. If BT had a tracker, LE is keeping that close to their chest. Would require some serious inside access to pull off. Of course, it wouldn’t be so far fetched, considering the madness of this case!

New images of person wanted “for questioning” in murder of CEO

View attachment 550068
In these new pictures, to me, he looks like Sacha Baron Cohen (Israelian-jewish-English). The hotelpics looked like Justin Baldoni (Italian-Jewish)

I think the killer should be accountable w/o a doubt, but it's interesting there is so much attention and a $50,000 reward for the killing of a billionaire vs others who are killed in the same NYC daily.
I feel like it is almost common sense to why a murder like this gains more attention and gets more resources to solve than others. <modsnip - rude>

Time will tell… I think he left the country. No sense hanging out to get caught. He had a plan.
Ed. typo by me

We just heard what I said, but I'm sure there's a lot more detail that we don't know.

Did he ever speak?
Did he come and go?
What was the timeframe of his movements?
What did he have for belongings?

Could go on and on.
Surely the hostel desk clerk would know if he had an accent or not, and possibly the cabbie too. And maybe the SB barista for that matter. Seems like an important detail to know. IMO.

They're probably waiting for him to be taken into custody. I'm thinking of an adult version of Adam Lanza. Friends and family may be afraid of this shooter, too, especially if they know his history. Devious? Vengeful? Prone to rage? Gun hobbyist?

Agreeing so much with you Warwick 7, esp. "LE is holding a lot close to the vest".

So, is it just delayed reporting of NPR this morning? or, is the following quote still holding true? :

“He then walked a couple blocks and got into a taxi, arriving at 7:30 a.m. at the George Washington Bridge Bus Station, which is near the northern tip of Manhattan and offers commuter service to New Jersey and Greyhound routes to Philadelphia, Boston and Washington.
Investigators don't know what happened next. They are searching through more surveillance video but have yet to locate video of the shooter getting on a bus or exiting the station.

So, What are three possibilities of what could have “happened next”?

a) He went to a bathroom, changed his appearance AGAIN, and walked back down into the subways to travel away on the A Train?

b) He went to a bathroom, changed his appearance AGAIN, and walked to the ground level, or the upper level, and got into a waiting car, and was driven somewhere?

c) He went to a bathroom, changed his appearance AGAIN, (making him look more radically different than before; maybe even unrecognizable, as a young man) and left on one of the buses?

Any other ideas? What do people think happened?

this morning's article:

Good question! Did he hop another bus or did a girlfriend pick him up? I find it intriguing he used his cell phone mere minutes before committing the crime. Was he alerting a friend as to his whereabouts and ask to be picked up outside Central Park? More wild speculation on my part.

I believe this person was hired and lives outside of America, they have already left the country

I’m questioning the obvious motive also. You have to admit, it’s the perfect red herring scenario to cover a motive much closer to home and far more personal.

I’m 50/50 at this point on “why” he had to die.
1. If its true he was under investigation for insider trading and other crimes then I place "silencing" at the top of my list by people with much to lose.
2. If he was going to provide evidence of wrongdoing within the Big Pharma, Big Medical, Big Insurance schemes of say the past 4 years I'd again say "silencing". Wouldn't be the first person to mysteriously die while holding allegations against powerful corporations.
3. Family member hired a hit for money.
4. Angry policyholder over a denied claim
5. Like the movie "Fletch"...he hired his own hit so life insurance money would be paid. Only makes sense if he was being investigated for a crime and knew he would end up in prison.

Please explain why they deserve more attention and resources.
Because this thrust the NYPD into the national spotlight.

A brazen killer struck in broad daylight, committing a crime that was straight out of a Hollywood movie.

It was an absolutely unprecedented crime, and the implications for the city and the department are huge.

Your average murder doesn’t have those implications.
