I think the killer should be accountable w/o a doubt, but it's interesting there is so much attention and a $50,000 reward for the killing of a billionaire vs others who are killed in the same NYC daily.

Seeking out and posting in a thread about this case by itself challenges the notion that it shouldn't be given any more attention than any other murder.

Yes. This prosthetic body part/mask thing is giving me flashbacks to when people thought the Delphi killer was wearing a respirator and had a baby goat under his jacket.

It was completely unnecessary for him to do that, and it would have risked giving him away. It would be quite embarrassing if his nose fell off.

Not to mention if the goat bleated from under his jacket while a hiker passed him on the trails. That sort of thing would kinda get one's attention, ya know?

Following the logic doesn’t make it any less “interesting” or, in my opinion, any less of a bummer that other murders get way less resources dedicated to solving them.

I’d even say this kind of assassin is less of a threat to public safety than a lot of other at-large murderers, the ones who get far less attention. IMO it’s fair to point out disparities in the resources dedicated to different cases.

Law enforcement nationwide should use more resources to solve all the other crimes that are going on.

1. If its true he was under investigation for insider trading and other crimes then I place "silencing" at the top of my list by people with much to lose.
2. If he was going to provide evidence of wrongdoing within the Big Pharma, Big Medical, Big Insurance schemes of say the past 4 years I'd again say "silencing". Wouldn't be the first person to mysteriously die while holding allegations against powerful corporations.
3. Family member hired a hit for money.
4. Angry policyholder over a denied claim
5. Like the movie "Fletch"...he hired his own hit so life insurance money would be paid. Only makes sense if he was being investigated for a crime and knew he would end up in prison.

Agree with all your potential motives. I hadn't considered number five, interesting thought.

Surely the hostel desk clerk would know if he had an accent or not, and possibly the cabbie too. And maybe the SB barista for that matter. Seems like an important detail to know. IMO.

It could depend English fluency among those three individuals and if English is their second language. Discerning accents a can be difficult in with learned languages.

For example, learned Spanish is my second language. But... I can only pick up the most distinct Spanish accents when spoken by people with thick accents.

Other than that, standard Mexican blurs into standard Columbian which blurs into standard Peruvian. Native speakers, however, could well be able to note differences. Needless to say, there are alot of people in NYC for whom English is a second language.

I find it to be heartbreaking. To be clear, I refer to the "he doesn't look American" types of comments. Americans do not have any ethnic look. We are every color and ethnicity.

Now, some people do refer to possible ethnicity, and that's just a way of trying to narrow down who this person is. I personally don't find it that useful, but it might be.

Now, culturally, we do have some mannerisms..That's a messy thing in a country so huge and diverse, but I'm thinking of WWII when American spies had to be taught to stop leaning on things - the casual American "lean" was a big identifier. Sometimes you'll hear Europeans say they can identify an American by their constant smiling or the way they walk. The opposite can be true, too. Sometimes you can identify a non-American by mannerisms. These things are broadly interesting culturally, but are useless for identifying a single person in an incredibly diverse culture, in perhaps the most diverse city on the planet.

I'm with you and waver on motive. As far as "hired" hitman for #1, #2, #3 I can see NO scenario where the person hiring him would agree to doing it in NYC. With such high odds of getting caught then subsequently incrimination the person who hired him..I dunno, that doesn't make sense to me. That's why I'm leaning toward shooter-specific, meaning, personal vendetta by shooter or personal relationship to BT or extortion attempt gone wrong by shooter. And I absolutely can not get past, me being in corporate America for decades, I can NOT get past BT arriving in that suit without his laptop or briefcase to a big meeting. I'd like to see the footage of who was in or out of BTs hotel room, where his laptop is now, something seems so off about BT on the day of the murder.

Someone upthread mentioned he could have not gotten on a bus as all but made it seem like he did but instead walked the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey. Maybe head to Newark International Airport? It would really take you no time. People can go very unnoticed in NYC and NJ (i live in nyc). The NYPD are stationed so heavily in the subways and even then people still go unnoticed so heavily could have avoided the subway or not. Just thinking out loud sorry if this doesn’t make any sense!! You're right. However men's Adams' apples are very prominent and visible compared with women's. The recent released photo where you can see perp's neck as he walks along the street shows a prominent, very visible Adam's apple, imo. Sorry, I'm not sure where in this thread those photos are, I am just dropping by, but I believe they've been posted recently. So you can see for yourself and make your own judgement. Even with a massive department like NYPD, this case is undoubtedly putting a massive strain on their resources.
