Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #211

I guess from a defence perspective, they can use it as an argument that she doesn't love him so won't lie for him.
But one would have to question why she doesn't love him.
That's a huge statement for a daughter to say to a father.
It would take a lot for me to say that about my dad.

BW on the stand for the defence now. Today feels more tense IMO.

Many don't love a parent or parents worldwide and many do love a parent or parents - it isn't a novelty.

So, out of his confessions what is real and what isn't?!

To me, if he never messed with anyone (SA) - it could mean he didn't kill anyone either.

I don't feel these confessions hold weight on the details given, what the D's expert analysed and now witness testimony about SA never happening.

The box cutter is one hell of a detail, as it perfectly describes the injuries. Stealing it from CVS and throwing it away at the dumpster there is another one.

Then you have his visiting his parents, deciding not to have lunch with them (fight maybe), then he buys a 6 pack and drinks exactly 3, before bundling up and going to the trail.

If I ignore everything else, it’s more than enough to move the needle for me.

A little thing with Dr. Wescott… according to Murder Sheet, she claims brief psychosis was in DSM-IV, but isn’t in DSM-5… Pretty sure it’s still in the DSM. Kind of a big thing for the expert to get wrong…

Hidden True Crime was talking about that too.

Another reason why getting bits and pieces from many different reporters is so frustrating. Because reporters who don't understand what she is saying interpret it as "most psych associations don't consider it a real diagnosis anymore".....when she actually tried to insinuate it's not a thing because it's not in the DSM-5....when it is, just not in the same form/place that it was in the DSM-4

Nope. It was immediately after he asked him about dropping the trailer off earlier in the day.

Andrew Baldwin questioned Webber. He said, "In 2017, you told police you went and worked on ATM machines."

Webber responded, "That's not correct."

Baldwin continued, " You didn't drive straight home."

Webber said, "I dropped off a trailer."

Baldwin replied, "That was earlier in the day."

Webber shouted his answer at Baldwin "That's not correct! No!," and Webber and Baldwin started screaming at each other in open court.

Then today he testified that he checked his ATMs daily. The jury asked if he usually goes home before he services his ATMs and Weber replied “No.”

Seems like the jury doesn’t believe he drove straight home. I don’t know why more clarifying questions were not asked.

So, there is a contradiction in Weber's testimony.

He said that that day he went straight home (Friday) and even yesterday on the stand, but to the juror he answered No in regards to going home before servicing his ATMS.

I feel no more questions needed to be asked because it means if he serviced his ATMs before going home - that day he never went home at the time he gave that fits in with the State's timeline.

Someone posted a video where a man goes step by step with the events leading up to the murder. I’ve searched and cannot find it. It is such an interesting watch. The woman who saw BG=RA and turned and went back to her car, thereby passing Libby and Abby….did she say why she turned around? When her (BB?) dot passes the girls, my heart sank and I wish they had followed her. Apologies again that I cannot identify the dots video. TIA
No eyewitnesses that testified in the trial have identified BG as RA.

Was RA asked what path he took to get back to his car?

"Allen couldn't remember exactly where he parked his car. When asked about his route, Allen told investigators, "The way that loops around."

RA said he couldn't remember where he parked.
By this time in 2022 it is safe to say that most in Delphi knew of the second sketch presser where LE asked the public for information on a car that was parked at the old CPS welfare building on February 13. Especially someone that was keeping up with the case, as RA was by his internet searches in 2022.

No eyewitnesses that testified in the trial have identified BG as RA.

It's the most logical deduction based on the witnesses' digital evidence, the camera evidence from the Hoosier Harvest Store, the digital evidence from one of the victims', and RA's original statements to Dan Dulin five days after the murders' were committed.

1:45 p.m. - The defense's 14th witness is Brittney Zapanta, Allen's daughter.
Defense attorney Jennifer Auger asked "Did your father ever molest you?"
Zapanta said no.
Auger asked "Do you love your father?"
Zapanta said no.

Auger asked "Would you lie for him?"
Zapanta said no.
State's attorney James Luttrell tried to ask if Allen went to the Monon High Bridge often. The defense objected, which was sustained.
Luttrell showed Zapanta and the jury photos of Allen. He asked if Allen's appearance changed before she went to college.
Zapanta said no.
Luttrell showed photos from 2014 through 2017 of Allen and asked if that's how Allen looked. Zapanta said they all looked like Allen in 2017.
The state tried to add more photos, but the defense objected and the judge sustained the objection.
The jury asked Zapanta if she visited the Monon High Bridge as a teen. She said yes.
Luttrell asked Zapanta if she had visited the Monon High Bridge with her father. She said yes.
Luttrell asked if Zapanta was scared. She said yes.

bbm

(Editor's note - a previous version of this story reported that Zapanta said "no" when asked if she loved her father. This has been corrected to show that Zapanta said "yes," she does love her father)

Well, if you go by the defense’s questions/statements on day 11, BW dropped off the trailer earlier in the day. So it makes sense he took the van. Now the defense seems to be challenging their own assertions?

Bizarro.

JMO

which is why one should take Bob Mottas statements with a grain of salt. the D did not have an inconsistent statement. They are trying to speculate something as usual.

There it is! They got him.

exactly.

Which is why we are seeing a new conspiracy that Wala was somehow working to convict RA.

there is no bottom to the conspiracies one needs to believe in.

What is in evidence is that RA freely mentioned the van. there is no evidence Wala told him about it.

It’s so tenuous as to be absurd that someone would taint his confessions so subtlety.

Of course Wala did not do this.

He’s part of the conspiracy to frame RA along with Dr Wala!

all using a white van!

all very credible and believable.

MOO

Wala sure didn't make it easy on herself. She relayed that RA said he did something with the gun on the bridge and that is when he thought the bullet came out. Why not say RA said he thought his bullet came out at the discovery scene where it was actually found to match the evidence?

Instead they would have us believe that Wala mentioned a white van to RA that was only driven by the driver, Brad Weber, on days when he pulled his trailer, who happened to be driving down the private drive of his parents home within 15 minutes of the girls' being kidnapped off of the bridge, and which none of the above information was listed in the discovery according to LE.

Poppycock.

KA did ask him to contact LE after the BG pic was released. That’s what led to the DD interview.

I would like to know if RA or KA ever mentioned to any friends or relatives that RA was out there that day, didn’t see anything, etc.

It would seem they’d mention it in social circles, since Libby and Abby were discussed so often in Delphi.

If they never told a soul, why not?
If they never speculated, for example at their pub, who the killer could have been or out of which circles/scenes (bikers, gangs, cults) he could have been, it would also be remarkable, IMO.

Did the family direct RA to a Mental Health provider for evaluations, medication management, and counseling services? I don't remember any psych hospitalizations. The wife did call 911 and he was taken to ER.
I may be wrong, but I remember, KA took him there herself, after LE supported the process.

Not sure if he said he was on bridge but he did talk about the girls.

All the details above, plus more (thought they were older, led them down the hill in order to assault them, van shows up, across the creek, never raped them) in…..perfectly sensible……and organized……..timeline………order. Something one might imagine a person suffering from psychosis (or most any severe mental issue) would struggle to do.

Should slam most needles, definitively, I’d hope.

Wow no wonder he needed to find 2 young girls. IMO he wouldn't have to worry about what they think of him..

IMO
The younger, the better - I think. Abby and Libby actually weren't young enough, if the poor girls had survived. They could have told the whole of Delphi, what they thought of him. MOO

Prosecution cross-examined Mullin. Not only did the police chief deny feeding Weber information about the van, but Mullin stated phone records backed up Weber’s account of driving straight home after work.

Mullin said Weber handed over his Sig Sauer which was taken to the lab.

“It was determined that it was not the weapon connected to the bullet found at the scene,” Mullin said.
