"It's not me if it came from the girls' camera."
That's a confession.
'It's not me if....' is the flipside of 'it is me' (if the photo didn't come from the girls).
He identified himself!
And then, over time, provided enough corroborating details to match existing evidence and answer lingering questions. Why the elevation change, why redressing (why undressing without obvious physical SA), why the river crossing, why the branches, even why the peculiar injuries.
Oh, and he said he 'did a thing' with his gun... did a thing. Didn't fire it. Didn't probably clean it. What's left? Oh, I don't know, how about racked the slide? On the DTH side of the whole wide world. The same place where Libby recorded the man, the weapon (in outline, sound and identification by Libby herself) and the threat, GDTH.
It astounds me that there are people who tear Libby's video apart. That the image is at a distance, that it's pixilated, that it flips, that the audio is poor. My God, the child was being abducted, at gunpoint. That she captured anything is heroic, miraculous, and even though it tool five years to identify RA, her video confirms his confession.
He didn't leave his DNA but that doesn't even kind of mean he wasn't there. He did not rape the girls as intended. We don't know what he did or didn't do but if he wore gloves, a cap, a clean coat, just what DNA would anyone expect to find? In the outdoors no less. Minimal touching if he used weapons to control... minimal touching if he did utilize some sort of restraints if he had them restrain each other, especially considering that (if he did restrain them) he took the restraints with him and/or used their own clothing. Where would there be overwhelming DNA transfer there?
RA got rid of his phone and time ate a lot of data... or we'd know what time he arrived at and left Peru, what time he stopped to buy his beer, whether he did in fact go home, what his phone was doing between 1 and 5. Lucky dodge. But alas, he wasn't able to get rid of everybody's phones. The ones that timestamped him after 1:30, not before, put him on the bridge close to 2 pm and angling toward his car at 3:57, and most critically, put him on the bridge behind Abby and Libby (whom he confessed to following), approaching them forcefully at 2:13.
An investigation is a puzzle.
Once RA put the last pieces in, the picture materialized.
He was confessing all along.
