I’d like to know where he bought the beers & if there was any security camera footage of him doing so. That’s his story & wasn’t necessarily validated by LE, that we know. What if he had someone else with him or came from an odd route from his mother’s to the liquor store? That might have opened doors to the involvement of other potential actors. Unfortunately that also may have opened other doors for the clowns as well. I know there’s no other solid evidence of it, but I tend to also lean towards he knew they were going to be there somehow, as you seem to do as well.

Regardless, they did at least get the one who stole their lives.

Maybe the Marathon Gas Station? We all heard about the alleged CCTV tape…

I’ll admit, my knowledge prior to the request for Frank’s hearing/Frank’s memo is lacking. I thought that stemmed from when KK was telling LE he & his dad (TK) went to Delphi & TK murdered the girls? Am I mistaken?

ETA - For clarity, I’m referring to RA’s movements prior to him returning to Delphi. From my understanding, which could be wrong, the Marathon station about which you’re referring was in Delphi. I thought RA bought the beer THEN came home from Mexico/Peru? I could be mistaken about that as well, admittedly going from memory here. I may refresh my memory with RA’s first 2022 interview & see how he words it.

5 years. Remember Carter saying they would go over everything top to bottom? GBI also went over the "whole" investigation.
But no one went over cleared tips.
Or physically looked at the boxes of entered data.

Quoting this to expand further.

I went back through the 2022 interview with Mullin & RA never mentions the beers to him. That I can find, it was only during Wala’s testimony where the beers were mentioned & I haven’t been able to find a clear report as to whether the beers were bought before he drove home from Mexico/Peru or after he returned to Delphi. This was as detailed of Wala’s testimony as to what RA told her what he did on 13FEB22 that I could find:

Wala wrote in her report that Allen said he went to see his parents the morning of the crime. He was supposed to have lunch with them but “opted to get himself a six-pack” instead.

“He reported drinking three drinks and then finishing the rest later (unclear whether on the way to trail or at the trail),” Wala wrote. “He stated, ‘I bundled up.’ Once at the trail, he stated, ‘I laid I wait.’” Wala said Allen told her he saw the girls and then followed them onto the bridge. “He mentioned doing something with a gun and stated, ‘I think that’s where the bullet fell out.”

Yeah - part of my recent comments are pointing out some of the shoddy investigation (not asking certain questions) but also some of the nagging questions to which I’ll likely never get answers.

I frustrates me watching the 2022 interview with Mullin & Liggett. RA seemed to forget almost everything having to do with 13FEB17 but had zero issues recalling the group of 4 (he says 3) girls on the trail, vehicles at Mears entrance, volunteer work, working at WalMart/CVS, where he’d park when with his wife/family, falling asleep while driving, etc.. Almost everything else having to do with that one day, he offers almost nothing helpful or lies. They never tell him that he’s eluding questions. They just allow the rambling to continue. I’d be making him answer the questions or at least making him say he doesn’t remember. Kind of points to the shoddy work & that might be leading to the questions I have not being answered.

I hope that makes sense.

It's like no one had briefed DD to BOLO for a perp inserting himself into the investigation.
Although DC said in an early state, that the killer would try to involve himself into the investigation - what RA quasi did. When he did so, they never checked/understood it, until KS found out.

Date BBM should have been 13FEB17, obviously.

I think someone mentioned here that the RA tip could have been "cleared" because Dan Dulin asked a question at the bottom of the tip narrative asking about who the girls' were that were seen by the Freedom Bridge.

Once LE figured out who the girls' were (BW, RV, AS) very shortly after the crime the tip could have been labeled "cleared" because that question had been answered. This makes sense it is just so tragic that RA got overlooked in the tip.
In my opinion, the strangest part of the case is how Richard Allen came forward only a few days after the murders.

I wonder what Richard Allen was thinking after the February 22nd, 2017, press conference when they posted the picture up of bridge guy for everyone to see while telling the public it came from Liberty German's phone. Then when they played the clip of bridge guy's voice during that same press conference, he had to be worried someone might tip him into police.

Maybe this is why Richard Allen pretended he did not know the bridge guy picture came from one of the girls' phones? Maybe that is why the tip got cleared so early on because no one thought the killer would do something like report a tip about being there so quickly after the crime before it became a bigger story after that press conference on February 22nd, 2017?

This seems to make the most sense, DD submitted the tip with his notes after RA tipped himself in (some people say KA made him call and tell LE he was there?), someone followed up about the girls and Richard Allen "Whiteman" was cleared.

I'd guess that tip was not entered into the FBI electronic tip log. It would have been the day or 2 afterwards before that the electronic system was set up. IIRC.

I could be mistaken & it’s not really of any consequence but I believe the tip had his name as Richard Whiteman, living on Allen Drive. I do not recall for a fact if RA gave that info incorrectly in hopes of deception or if DD wrote it down incorrectly.

What if RA knew of Libby's phone and the video of himself (as BG) and he thought, nobody would believe, that this BG would have left the telltale phone at the crime scene AND despite that speak with police (DD) about his presence on the trail?

It is possible. But I think many probably think he did not know about the phone or the voice recording because he came forward before the big press conference on February 22nd, 2017.

I could not understand why the police did not drive Richard Allen around Delphi for him to point out exactly where he parked on the day of the murders.

What matters is where Richard Allen parked on the day of the murders. But it is also interesting to try to figure out if there was somewhere else Richard Allen could have said he parked based on his first interrogation. I think I figured it out by looking on google maps. Maybe others have posted this information here, but if anyone is interested in the location that I think Richard Allen could have been talking about in his first interrogation, the location information is below.

In Delphi Indiana, just north of the intersection of Old Camden Road and N. Arnold Street there is another parking lot. I do not know if it was there in 2017, but it has about 18 spaces to park.

That parking lot was not there in 2017. He stated in that interview, the area where the new parking lot is located (on the west side of the highway - 25, I believe), that’s where WE would park, indicating when he was with his family.

He said, I believe to DD, he parked at the old Farm Bureau building, which turned out to be the CPS building. Then in 2022, he is conveniently uncertain & starts going off on another tangent. That’s another instance where he spoke about everything under the sun except for directly answering the question. It wouldn’t have mattered if they held a gun to his head, he wasn’t going to be anyone’s fall guy, just as he said, so he lied & used meaningless anecdotes as a way of avoiding the subject at hand.

Just as he said. It didn’t matter, it’s was over. Another instance where he slipped up & tried to lie his way out of it. That’s what he does over & over, open his big mouth & then tries to cover it up by lying.

Did I say I was there until after 2:30? No, I was there no later than 1:30. Lies, lies & more lies.

I didn't know this...his home was 1/2 mile from the school Abby & Libby attended. Wow

Hah, I guess we both were a little right and wrong. No worries. :)

<snipped>

The Allen file was labeled with a green dot, Shank said, meaning it had been cleared. The document also appeared to have been mislabeled as "Richard Allen Whiteman." Allen lived on Whiteman Drive in Delphi.

Richard Allen was not on Delphi investigators' radar. Then a volunteer found a box of tips.

More info from above linked article...

<snipped & BBM>

On Feb. 16, 2017, Allen self-reported to investigators that he was on the trail the same afternoon Abby and Libby disappeared. He was later contacted by Dan Dulin, an Indiana Department of Natural Resources captain who was helping with the investigation at that time, and the two met at a grocery store.

Allen said he was on the trail between 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 and saw three girls near the Freedom Bridge as he headed toward the trail, Dulin testified.
