What does RA know about appellate law? If an appeal is granted and he were to get a new trial, one would expect his defense attorneys to work closely with RA -- but even then, that's what zoom and secure phone calls can be used for.

I can't imagine the attorneys working on the appeal brief need much help from RA. The less he says, the better for them IMO.

My question, he is entitled to appeal, but indefinitely? For his long will a judge limp this along, without end in sight?

If they ever finish the brief, does the State get to answer or does it go before the appellate court unanswered? I can't remember how it works.

Oatmeal brain.

Hard to tell. I am of the belief the round in the keepsake box was his memento for that day. He couldn’t keep the sock or panties but he could keep &, if found by anyone else, explain away the round, be it to his wife, daughter, cleaning person or LE. That bullet held some significance, as it was found in a box with a letter from his mother as well as what looks like an invitation to a Ball State radiology graduation ceremony.

Maybe it was from a day he threatened to kill himself? Didn't that occur with a 911 call?

Yeah right? Easy enough I would think. Just a lot of lawyering nonsense of always pushing things for a continuance, MO. Or, maybe their caseload is so heavy they just haven't gotten to Ricky's lost cause? 😏

Interesting craigslist scam. Unsure how it works other than they'll have your email address, and possibly your name if you respond. I say it's interesting because I got 2 IDENTICAL DMs from this person on CL, and they can't possibly be at the same place at the same time (9am), since they don't know both listings are the same person's listings. Plus the fact they are pulling the same thing in TX.

So I Googled their DM msg to see what I could find. San Antonio TX is a long way from Oregon! LOL

Yeah, be there in an hour or so👍

See below 2nd quote - responding to both.

Maybe he broke his iPad….again?

I believe that particular call, if I understand correctly, occurred prior to my following the case closely. Details that early on aren’t as entrenched in my memory as of yet. Was that the call his wife made around 2018 or thereabouts?

Like you, I fail to understand what him being easier to access brings to the table for his appellate team. I thought all he could recall was:
  • he wasn’t there on the bridge at the time he said he was there in 2017
  • it was impossible that his bullet was at the CS
  • if the BG photo came from one of the girls’ phone, it couldn’t be him
  • he was checking his stocks or the stock ticker using his cell phone even though his phone never showed up on the towers (or something to that effect)
Maybe in order for the case to progress further, the appellate attorneys need him to start telling on himself some more? Maybe he suddenly remembers, after 8 years, where he parked or which way he drove to get to where he parked? Maybe they need additional anecdotes which lend nothing to answering questions from investigators? Maybe he finally has an alibi?

Maybe he just needs a hug from Andy?

"[RA] swore he would harm the judge if he did not get what he wanted. He did not wish his family to see him at his most vulnerable, shackled and awaiting to learn his fate. He told his relatives that if he saw them at the hearing, he would hurt [Judge] Gull"

I finished the latest book on the case today. It was okay. I was hoping more background on RA. What he was like as a kid, a neighbor, a co-worker, etc. The silence about him has been weird and I was hoping to learn more.

The book felt like it kinda lost its way once the Pagan crap was re-hashed.

I doubt there’s anything interesting to learn about him. He seems a typical creeper type. Lazy, drunk, unattractive, zero personality, no ambition, obsessed with 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and fantasizing about murdering innocent girls. He liked having other people, especially women, support and care for him while putting up with his abuse and demands.

All in all an uninformed loser who never bothered to learn, educate himself or do anything to cultivate an interesting personality. Not worth the effort to research or try to learn about. JMO

Anyone else think he will have success with appeals? I really don’t think so. It was a solid case against him. JMO

I believe it was around that time frame?

Extend away - just shows they’re being thorough, which I’d hope they would be just for the sake of being fair, but more importantly nothing that’s easily &/or obviously able to be appealed.

If my memory is correct, he’s around 60 days shy of his 3rd consecutive year in custody.

This may be what seemed so off to me about his 2 interviews. The idiot just didn’t directly answer questions. He either went off on tangents or conveniently forgot. He was fishing the entire time until Holeman slapped the ballistics report down in front of his face. Then he knew & was able to remember things because it wasn’t possible it was him if the pic came from LG’s phone & it wasn’t possible the round came from his gun.

I would have been reacting with fear, concern & worry - likely refusing to speak further without an attorney present. He said he was done a few times but he kept blabbering on thinking he was in ahead of LE, all while trying not to be overly obvious when staring at the CS photo one of the first times Holeman left the room.

MOO
The pathological liar could not help himself, it's what happens when they're confronted. Even if LE had 20 different date and time stamped videos showing him clearly in high resolution committing the entire act from start to finish, he still would have denied it. It wasn't me, nah nah nah, I'm telling you it wasn't me, blah, blah, no, nope, nopers <fingers in ears>.

The obvious staring at the CS photos was a turn on for that freak child murderer, he could not help himself. I think the odds are high he might have made extra copies of the pictures Libby's family took into CVS to get processed for her funeral, goodness knows what he did with those.

What an evil, soulless, pathetic little man. Long may he receive even a measure of the pain and suffering he inflicted upon Abby and Libby.

That really ticks me off. He hunted Libby and Abby and watched them during their most vulnerable (and final) moments. Moments that HE created. No doubt they were waiting to learn their fate - would he let them go? Might they be able to escape him? Sheer terror. Libby’s tears were mixed with her own blood.

Can’t wait for RA to just fade away into the prison system, forever.

Don't except a 'profile' that can turn him into an interesting study case. He was just a regular, pathetic psychopath. There's no motive, no shocking background story, nothing of worthy to a regular acquaintance in the community.

That doesn't mean he was a 'pathetic loser', he was just unnoticeable like many of us are in our daily lives. That's what makes those creeps hard to spot and catch. Maybe only those closest to him can come to realize years later how skillfully manipulated they were by this creep.

<snip>

And again, Richard Allen confessed to watching the girls "to make sure they didn't suffer". Why huh? They suffered terror, trauma and fatal injuries. Pretty much the definition of suffering. <snip>
If anyone has time, could you please point me to where Allen said he watched the girls "to make sure they didn't suffer"? I never saw this when I was following the trial and I would like to know how Allen said it and in what context. Thanks!

It was one of the things he confessed to the prison shrink. It was in her testimony at trial.

There's reference to it here, but it's in lots of other articles.

Speaking of fatherhood, did anyone else ever hear him ask about his daughter on those phone calls to his wife and mother? I didn't ever hear any of them mention her all. No asking how she is doing, is she alright, nothing. Not one word.
Isn't that so very odd or is it just me?
My feeling is they were estranged in some way. JMO.
