GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #220

  • #921
If anyone has time, could you please point me to where Allen said he watched the girls "to make sure they didn't suffer"? I never saw this when I was following the trial and I would like to know how Allen said it and in what context. Thanks!
Adding context to the reference provided above:

In an April 5, 2023, patient complaint, Allen said, “I killed Abby and Libby. I’m sorry.” He said he made sure they were dead so they didn’t suffer and believed they were deceased by the time he left.

He reportedly became tearful and said he committed the murders by himself. According to Wala’s account, Allen said his intentions were “sexual” in nature and he alluded to having a sex addiction. He believed the girls were older—perhaps 18 or 19—although he also thought they could’ve been as young as 11.

Williams was 13 and German was 14 at the time.

Allen also said he was an alcoholic and had been both a victim and perpetrator of child molestation, and that he wanted to apologize to the girls’ families.

Allen told Wala he was glad he didn’t kill himself and expressed appreciation for being housed and clothed at the facility. He told her he slept with his Bible and had committed himself to God.

His thought process was “all over the place” at times and his emotions were “up and down,” according to Wala.

During a May 2 report, Wala noted that Allen said he killed the girls, asked if it was “OK” for him to kill himself, and added he didn’t want to die because he was “too much of a coward.”

Say what?? He is admitting that what he did was sexual in nature, and that the fact he thought they could have been only 11 yrs old was OK with him!!?!?? WTH?!?

That sentence is a complete contradiction, is it not?

Slick Ricky once again trying to minimize what a cowardly monster he is but not realizing what he’s actually saying. Lies wrapped around the truth

He says he made sure they were deceased so they didn’t suffer (wow, what a heroic deed, murderer) then he says he doesn’t know if they were dead or not when he left (he says he believed they were gone, not that he made sure or knew they were dead).

He didn’t know if they were dead when he left & he didn’t care. He went on living his life, just as the coward later said to Wala. That’s all that mattered to him. Don’t get caught & don’t let KA find out.

What a piece of work….I’d rather use another four letter word but shall refrain & leave it to your imagination.

Yes! Total contradiction.

I just listened to TC garage’s last two episodes with John Douglas. He seems to refer to the Delphi case as unsolved. I thought it was a rerun, but no.

Wonder if I missed something.

The problem with RA and all the rest of the coward killers, using overpowering force to kill defenseless victims, is they have shifted the culture to which they belong.
For RA he apparently hooked himself into a certain horror sex movie genre featuring teens.
And in that genre there is an imaginary culture, MOO he was invested in that crazy movie unreality as his culture, so in his opinion he didn't really do anything wrong.
In that wierdo p o r n y idea of a culture, being vulnerable is basically a crime and the vulnerable are practically asking for his correction.
Carter calling RA a coward is a reference to the shared greater morality of our culture, to which RA doesn't want to belong to nor belong to.
And now, that actual real culture has taken action and RA can spend his time expiring in a cell.

To clarify it was a short snippet about it, so I guess John Douglas might just not be interested in the case. I found it weird that Nick who has written a book about the Delphi murders didn’t comment…

Let's review.

Richard Allen ducked out of a family lunch. Purchased alcohol, started day drinking early, went home to ... get his gun, layered clothes, a boxcutter, if he wasn't already carrying one.
He went directly to the bridge.
He had no phone AFAIK.
He sized up the group of juveniles.
He encountered AW and LG. He was well aware of their youth.
He let them pass by him, waited until they reached the end of the bridge, then overtook them, knowing there was nowhere for them to go.
He threatened them with a fire arm.
Abducted them.
Forced them to undress.
Spent 18 minutes with two terrified little girls.
...
He forced them across the creek. Why? What evidence was washed away?

He murdered them brutally.
Watched them die.
Did not bolt.
Stayed.
Concealed them from view.
Took souvenirs.

He took souvenirs. It was an afternoon he wanted to remember. That's really really disturbing. Things didn't get out of hand, he didn't panic, he did what he wanted to do, then took souvenirs to commemorate it.

Sick.

Source? I recall nothing about this and I followed the case pretty closely.

John Douglas lost credibility with me when he defended the Ramsey's, claiming that an intruder killed little JonBenet.
I had really admired him up until that point.
Now I don't believe one word out of his mouth. JMO

Slowly and with as much pain as fear as he gave to Abby and Libby.

Oh, I guess that's not possible since he murdered them. 🤬

Are you referring to Nick McLeland? Did he write a book about Delphi?

You give him credit for having a sense culture &/or brain. I think he’s much more of a simpleton & just a selfish liar who gets off on control & deviant behavior with kids. Who’s right matters little IMO, as he’s where he belongs though it wouldn’t bother me had his sentence been more harsh. Either route results in years if not decades of appeals.

Nevertheless, NM & Co. as well as JG have done their best to correct his culture for him. He’s got somewhere around 129 years & some change left to work on it.

His appellate attorneys are preparing to go to OK to see him for an allegedly important appellate meeting. Maybe they can offer words of wisdom to set his cultural misunderstandings straight, though I doubt his ears or mind are ready to open up for self improvement just yet.

Libby German, Abby Williams and their families were honored as “Crimefighters of the Year” at CrimeCon 2025 in Denver, an annual conference devoted to true crime, this past weekend.

Also on stage were Indiana State Police Lieutenant Jerry Holeman, who led the investigation against Richard Allen and Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland who successfully convinced jurors to convict Allen for the 2017 killings and then a judge to sentence him to 130 years in prison.

They should also give that judge an award. The crazy antics and insults from the defense team were more than most judges could tolerate.

JMO, it's interesting to see the difference in how the prosecution and trial process for RA was conducted. It was much different from BK.
