I think this is the most convincing part of their claim, IMO—the fact their story doesn't start earlier in the morning.This is true. If their story was entirely fabricated it wasn’t put together with very much thought as it not only raises many questions but highlights their poor parenting as well. The children found to be missing from their beds in the morning is a far more common one, having the habit of waking up very early, oh panic set in, where did they go?

That said, maybe they slept in that day. (This is a pretty dark thought, I realize.)
