I hope footage (if such exists) from those protests are being reviewed for someone who matches the description of the shooter.

Makes sense & is the logical thing for LE to do. But, realistically, I think most protesters, even those willing to be arrested for their cause, are not going to step up to murder next. So, I'm not sure he will show up in that footage. MOO.

This gives vibes of the movie The Thomas Crown Affair that starred Pierce Brosnan.

I'd love to know if BT had any meetings involving the investor loss/ insider trading situation scream at him "what do you think this is, *monopoly* money? " Or maybe "sure sure, you saw to it that you made your fortune, so it's just monopoly money to you now".

We know that m-money is a big big message, but to and from who?

Oh, I'm absolutely hoping it's a one off too, but it seems like he curated all of his moves to cultivate a specific public reaction. This seems like the type of egomaniac who thrives off of public reaction.

I think it's likely he'll be caught before he can commit other crimes, but I also worry about copy cats, especially given the positive attention the murderer has received online.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a subsequent attack. Maybe attempts have been made and thwarted and nobody has "mispoken" about it yet.

This sounds like the perp is having a great time and this is a huge joke with the inscribed bullets and the Monopoly money
Or maybe he is just really pissed and letting people no why.

Why does he/they find it necessary to murder people? Statements can be made with a lot of publicity and press in other fashions. Mass demonstrations, from city to city, letters, manifestos to the press, using social media outlets, publicizing multiple cases where people have been gravely hurt by these insurance corporations, etc. Other ways to get public attention. It's done with environmental issues etc.
When has anything like that truly worked this day in age, against the elite who imo play under a completely different set of rules? The set that goes "for thee and not for me"... I'm not saying it's right, but I do understand why it would escalate to this point.

Moo... monopoly money..(it did make me laugh).internet is gonna love him, lovely smile too
Murderer.
Despicable human being.
Nothing to love here.

Good luck explaining your DNA all over items connected to the murder though.
I agree with you totally. No argument at all. It made me wonder if he believes in himself so powerfully that he thinks (arrogantly believes) he did everything well and left no DNA? Or, if he knows there is no familial association that can isolate him using conventional family DNA mapping? For example, if he was adopted and by time and chance there are sufficient disconnections he doesn't think (again in his own arrogance) that he can be identified? Maybe both parents died 30 years ago and he was adopted. That would create a disconnection. It may be bridgeable with determined investigation, but the percentage chance of making a direct, direct familial connection may not immediately be present.

Hasn't this gotten interesting? It's a game.
It's not a game to the loved ones and friends of Brian Thompson.
Nor to civilized society.

This guy owned Midtown while he was there. Moving around with familiarity like he's lived there his whole life. Catching a bus and cab to the Hilton, acquired an e-bike, was familiar with park bike paths and landmarks (carousel), knew which door would be accessed at the Hilton by the CEO, knew his getaway route, including little used alley/plaza - zig-zagging through town and park, while ditching backpack and bike to grab another cab to an obscure bus station. He's on the bus an hour after murdering the CEO. My bet is he's a lone wolf who was at one point a NY college student, maybe a graduate student with a thesis on corporate greed. I looked it up - Midtown has over 50 college campuses.

Corporate Greed: Decades of economic policies that favor Wall Street and corporate CEOs who have created an economy that is dangerously out of balance. Corporate executives line their pockets and ensure rules are written to favor them. MOO

That's a strong possibility. On sm (Reddit, FB, X), there's a number of instances where posters are alluding that a group/representative/etc. should get the "UHC treatment" and others are cheering them on. I think a lot of it is trolls being trolls, but I deeply worry that some unhinged person will try and take action.

I can assure you he is loving the attention he is getting- every minute move goes viral-- I wish it would stop, but of course it won't. I don't need to know every little thing- where he exited, blah blah blah-- He keeps leaving cookie crumbs here and there and it is blown up all over the world. He is taunting the police at this point and basking in all this attention. Leaving monopoly money in his back pack is taunting the police.

I just want him caught-- I do fear he is capable of killing again

I understand it’s a serious situation and someone died and it’s very sad and I feel horrible for his family.

That said… I literally laughed at the Monopoly money in the backpack. Imagine being a detective and being so excited that you found what you thought is the holy grail and you open it..and it’s full of Monopoly money.

We'll see who gets the last laugh when he gets life without parole sitting in a prison cell with his monopoly money. Pathetic.

edited for spelling

I think the mask was his grand plan to conceal his identity forever. I just think he didn’t understand how amazing the surveillance systems are in that city, and law enforcement’s ability to track him using those cameras.

So they never discover that he stayed at that hostel. They never see him drop that mask for that brief moment. All they have is some shadowy figure in cctv who shot a man and ran away.

I think the dropped phone/water bottle was a mistake.

Who cares. Just find him and lock him up, get him off the streets, he's a danger to civilized society.

Moo...was it normal for him to not have security?

It's a page turner for sure, though I feel for the victim's sons whose grief is made into entertainment.

Yes. I understand the rage at UHC (and other of these huge, behemoth companies whose bottom line is profit) but BT was much more than a UHC CEO. He had family who probably loved him immensely and, what’s more, needed him.

It’s all too easy to dump on someone (or cheer their death) anonymously on the Internet, but sometimes one needs to stand back and ask themselves “what is it that I’m doing here?” “What good will come of this comment?” “What pain will it cause, and to whom?” Would I be saying this in person?”

I simply can’t imagine losing someone I love dearly, flawed human being or not, and seeing people literally CHEERING.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>
I find it really strange… if I was getting threats there is no way I would wear bright blue stand out.

Yes, copy cat attempted and successful murders have certainly happed after such a publicized crime.
Probably why other health insurance companies have hired extra security, built fences, erased social media profiles and resorted to Zoom meetings.
