I’m relieved that this seems to be moving quickly, as are we all.

IMO this “psychic” is a charlatan.

I’d give it a degree of credence had this person warned Abby and Libby seven years ago to skip the bridge jaunt that day.

Or, failing that, had this person seven years ago announced who the killer is and spared the families some of this enduring agony.

So, IMO, it’s ridiculous and a well-bounced candidate. There’s serious business to conduct.

TIME’S UP!!!!!

I am not sure if we are allowed to share the family's SM public messages, but if you are following BP, she posted the most heartwrenching, gorgeous words regarding her feelings and concerns and hopes, regarding the start of the trial.

I don't know how anyone will make it through a single day with their eyes dry.

I wish the families strength, and that they feel the glow of the so so so much love and support from their communities and all of us, the countless strangers online who wish for their torment to soften.

Justice for Abby and Libby; we keep saying these words, and yet they never lose their meaning for me.

I’m not sure. Logically it would start earlier, but they’re scheduled to be sworn in on Thursday. It depends on if that date is firm, or just an estimate based on how long jury selection was expected to last.

Hopefully a reporter is asking the same question.
I wonder if both teams of attorneys were counting on the time until Thursday to finish preparation for Opening Arguments. I'd think they would be depending on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to finish up. IMO

In their mini opening statement, the defense said Allen confessed to shooting the girls in the back, but the evidence shows they were not shot. "Richard Allen confessed to a crime he didn't commit," his lawyers said, adding that in the four months prior to his confession, he was "languishing" in solitary confinement in prison. His lawyers said that a psychologist will tell you "these are the ingredients for false confessions" and described the state's evidence as "soft."
In their mini opening statement, the state said that "bridge guy" ... "brutally murdered Abby and Libby, then casually walked back to his car and went home." The "bridge guy" left a clue, the prosecution said, a bullet found at the crime scene. The state said it would prove Richard Allen is the "bridge guy," and that jurors would hear how he allegedly confessed to the murders and why.
At one point during defense questioning, Andrew Baldwin, part of Allen's defense team, stood behind him in court with his hands on his shoulders and said, "You guys, look at this man right here. Is it really possible that he might be innocent of this crime?" Allen smiled at the jury and the jury just stared back. The state objected. Baldwin then said to the potential jurors, "I need you to look in your hearts and minds."
Even if the jury is selected in just a day or two, opening statements in the trial will not begin until Friday, Oct. 18 as scheduled due to transportation and hotel arrangements for the jury.
Apparently the defense and prosecution did give mini opening statements...interesting.

Dear lord. Are we going down the path of 'look at how blue his eyes are... how soft his hands. Would this nice man be capable of violence? I think not!'

I suppose my question would be, is it normal behaviour to ask such a question in front of potential jurors?

All MOO

Another juror was dismissed after telling the court he didn’t “like the color green.”
During Monday’s proceedings, Carroll County Prosecutor Nick McLeland told prospective jurors that Allen is the “Bridge Guy” who killed the girls and whose image was widely seen in a grainy still taken from Libby German’s phone.
Defense attorney Bradley Rozzi said Allen made those confessions under duress. He also suggested infighting between federal and local law enforcement left some evidence unanalyzed.
The prosecution seemed to indicate it may not have conclusive DNA or phone data or weapon evidence. The defense appeared to lay the groundwork to keep Allen off the witness stand.

For some reason I don't trust what is going on. Call me psychic but I feel there is a reason the defense is moving this fast. Something feels off, but I can't put my finger on it. Deliberately wanting to go through the four alternates? Setting up some type of jury misconduct?

Almost feels like passive aggressive behavior.

These aren't the types of questions asked of jurors during voir dire. We ask things about education, background, media consumption, employment. Not about specific facts of the case. The opening statements were given to inform the jurors of baseline information regarding the case.

I was paraphrasing the question asked for dramatic effect.
This is the actual quote:
