Also im wondering if they got some forensic evidence from his car. Muddy boots put in the trunk to keep from getting the interior of his car muddy. Could possibly have DNA or Mud/dirt traces that match the crime scene that he can't explain because didnt he say he's never been to that spot?

Also if it was muddy they could have shoeprints that match his shoes etc.

Forensics Files afficionado here, and water diatoms, particular to a body of water. But in imagining DNA transfer from his coat. Blood.

I agree. I expect the top working theories about the girls were they were on an adventure without permission and would return home, they were runaways (family wouldn't think so but perhaps others), or they fell from that dangerous bridge. All of those situations make more sense than a man forcing them from the bridge, down a steep hill and across the cold river to kill them.

Imagine - two families are frantic with worry because their daughters are missing. No suspicious characters attacking people in the area have been reported. But regardless within hours LE concludes their disappearance is a result of murder and engages volunteers who mostly know or are related to one if not both families to undertake a ground search for their dead bodies in the dark.

It is just not logical for LE to assume every missing child has become a murder victim. Only in hindsight unfortunately was indeed murder involved in this case as opposed to wayward teens who are successfully found much to the relief of their families. MOO

#NEW: Jurors were shown graphic images of the crime scene during session 1 of day 3 in the #Delphi double murders trial as the prosecution continued making their case.

The state called the first deputy to arrive on scene after the girls were found and the CSI, who secured the scene.

DELPHI MURDER MORNING TRIAL NOTES:

My colleague Fox59’s Russ McQuaid was in court this morning. These are his observations. Testimony started with the 1st deputy on scene and and ISP crime scene investigator. 42 crime scene photos were entered into evidence and shown to court/jurors.The photos included everything from the general area to close ups of Libby and Abby. Abby was dressed. Libby was naked. The clothes Abby was in appeared damp.There were blood stains on both girls, on the ground and on the surrounding tress. There were tree branches set up in what appear to be a pattern on top of girls, some were in Vs or crosses, some with large branches. Murder suspect Richard Allen looked at the pictures as they were shown, but Russ said he had no significant reaction to them in his opinion. Still in direct examination of State Police CSI Court starts up again at 1pm

I wonder what happens if someone try to leave. Are they physically restrained? Sometimes bathroom emergencies happen...especially for women, in my opinion!

Moo...My local court system operates under the same rules.

People are allowed to leave, but no reentry until the next break, no saving seats.

Family is permitted to leave and enter at anytime. I've witnessed this when family becomes extremely emotional and is unable to recover.

Two hours without a bathroom break has never been a problem for me, having one kidney and 1/2 bladder. I just stop consuming liquids two hours prior.

Moo.. I think the media is making a mountain out of a mole hill. I wish they would spend energy on the trial.

Isn't filing a motion the correct way to find out for sure and get it on the record?

If the prosecution team decided to hire an expert specifically to "interpret" the words of the girls in the recording, it would be in discovery, on the state witness list, etc.

It's just another technique defense attorneys use to try to make the jury and public think the prosecution is trying to do something dishonest or shady.

It's just another technique defense attorneys use to try to make the jury and public think the prosecution is trying to do something dishonest or shady.

Maybe there is an expert like that, hence this motion. We haven't seen Discovery or the witness lists. The jury is not privy to these motions, are they? And the public is not deciding the case. To me, this one word ("may") is not some kind of proof that the defense is doing something underhanded (or even unusual). This all seems like standard stuff I've seen in every other case I've followed. I think they are just covering their bases as they know they have to do since they are very experienced trial lawyers.

A piece of carpet from the spare tire or wheel well area was removed and sent for testing from the Search Warrant of RA's home.

I would hope that a family's presence or absence would not factor in to a jury's deliberating.

It shouldn’t but we’d never know if it does. I suspect the D would strongly encourage as many relatives as seating allows to be present each day as a show of support for the defendant. MOO

So, according to the defense motion filed today concerning the video on Libby’s phone:

1) the defense is concerned about something the girls say at some point or how LE interpreted what they said. I really wonder what that could be. It’s not just girl talk apparently. My guess is it’s because their discussion makes it clear that only one person is coming at them, which would shoot down their multikiller/kidnapper scenario.
2) the defense claims it has little probative value. So if that’s the case, why do they care about it?
3) the defense claims it is speculative about what is said, and the jury should be be required to figure it out themselves. I would argue it might be speculative for regular folks but not for experts in audio technology or forensics. That’s their job. The defense I guess would have all expert testimony thrown out in all subjects and let the jurors figure it out. That doesn’t fly.

My opinion is the prosecution be required to identify any parts that are enhanced and let the jurors decide whether that’s important.
The defense has cross examination to counter anything.
