Branches atop the girls in patterns of Vs or crosses. Meaning what, exactly? Ritualistic somehow?
I'd say most likely covering up the naked body of a child that he just murdered because he felt ashamed would be most likely. Abby was dressed, Libby was not. Kyla Russel's tweet says branches were placed on top of the girls, more so on Libby.. seems a killer would want to cover a naked child. Just my opinion.

Abby was dressed.
Libby was naked.
The clothes Abby was in appeared damp.
There were blood stains on both girls, on the ground and on the surrounding tress. (Is that trees?)
Why would blood be on surrounding trees?
When he slashed their throat, did it hit an artery spraying blood?
Any notion that those girls were not murdered at that location is infuriating to me.

I could go both ways. Covering them up because he was ashamed of what he had just done, or covering them up to impede their discovery. Maybe even a mix of both.

According to Cicero's testimony in the 3 day hearings, he said Libby had 3 neck wounds, Abby one. Libby was still able to move about for a short time before she died.

Jurors saw 43 crime scene photos, as well as several diagrams, that were bloody and graphic.

Senior investigative reporter Bob Segall said the victims' families were very emotional. Segall also said some jurors seemed clearly disturbed while looking at the photos.

DELPHI MURDER MORNING TRIAL NOTES:

My colleague Fox59’s Russ McQuaid was in court this morning. These are his observations. Testimony started with the 1st deputy on scene and and ISP crime scene investigator. 42 crime scene photos were entered into evidence and shown to court/jurors.The photos included everything from the general area to close ups of Libby and Abby. Abby was dressed. Libby was naked. The clothes Abby was in appeared damp. There were blood stains on both girls, on the ground and on the surrounding tress. There were tree branches set up in what appear to be a pattern on top of girls, some were in Vs or crosses, some with large branches. Murder suspect Richard Allen looked at the pictures as they were shown, but Russ said he had no significant reaction to them in his opinion. Still in direct examination of State Police CSI Court starts up again at 1pm

Very sad. I noticed the other reporter didn't mention the tree branches set up in a pattern on top of the girls. It must be a subjective observation? JMO, it sounds like he was trying to camouflage their poor bodies as if they were a brush pile.

I'm going to guess they were all crosses. (If it was intentional patterning.)

Ergo the profiling DC might have been addressing in a presser-- the ounce of conscience (covering them, but also religiosity).

Based on what we know of his confessions, God and family, RA has his own brand/interpretation of religion.

Maybe that's what that last hour he spent was about. Trying to cover it up. Physically and (his brand of) spiritually.

This is why it is bad to have to depend on individual reporters in this case.

—one reporter describes the branches on top of the girls as being placed as “vees” and shapes, hinting that there was a purpose to them
—others reporters just say that branches were placed on top of them. Nothing more.

That first reporter will stir up a lot cr#p with that statement on a subject that the Judge has already ruled irrelevant. He knows what he’s doing.

The 3 day hearing they had, Cicero testified that Libby had injuries to both carotid arteries and the jugular vein. She was also said to be mobile so I can just imagine how the blood ended up on the tree.. a person mobile means their heart is pumping and if those arteries and vein were compromised well then it would cause a lot of blood each time her heart pumped until she quiet breathing. :(

Today….

Richard Allen entered the courtroom, his stepdad, mom, sister, and wife in the gallery. All members of Libby German and Abby Williams’ families were in attendance, as well.

That's what I find interesting. If you have a strong argument that can refute the tool mark evidence, then there's no reason to basically say "by the way, that round wasn't left by the killer."

So I think that probably bodes well for the prosecution in that regard.
The defense is having to beg the judge to allow them to present a witness who is able to refute the state’s theory.

They have the argument. But Gull gets to decide if it’s allowed to be presented.

I don’t understand how it’s considered a fair trial if the prosecution is allowed to present information that the defense is not allowed a chance to dispute.

I think Abby may have tried to escape. Damp clothes … did he catch her in the creek, knocking or dragging her back to the scene? Did she struggle resulting in blood on trees?

Just my random thoughts … moo
