'Cecil told jurors that the phone gradually powered down throughout the night and died at 10:32 p.m. But then the phone woke with a spike at 4:34 a.m.'

THIS! Was the 2nd location theory going to be... they stayed put until after 10pm, then they were taken to a second location and then put back at 4:34am?!

Now that's a BAM moment I didn't expect. Thanks @MassGuy

Sorry, I've missed the bam...in what manner would they (the victims) have stayed in that spot until 10 pm? Surely that would still include the possibility of BG being involved?

I have not been there but I recall Defense Diaries saying he went and you could see the area they were found from platform 1. And I assume the rest of the bridge. Being midwestern, no leaves is a huge deal. It’s the difference between seeing 20 feet in July and an huge area feeling naked and exposed in winter, it’s all open.
I suggest a rewatch of the helicopter footage (thread 1) of the search and discovery. Even zoomed in on the woods near the river, one cannot see the ground on the floor in the woods where the girls were actually located.

Yep, you could see the general area of where they were found from the bridge though.

Only 45 min late and someone is visibly distressed? No doubt it was a concern but teens being 45 min late for anything doesn’t surprise me. I can understand they wanted to look for them but already distressed? It was only 3:57 pm and not yet dark. Bit of a reach for me. Has the family said it was them? As always, JMHO.

I know we all parent differently and as we think is best, but speaking for myself, if my daughter or now my grandchildren were that late without contacting me, I would be very anxious.

Most particularly worrisome though is that they MISSED THEIR PICKUP TIME with Libby’s dad.

So they were not just late and meandering. Something was wrong. They needed the ride home, they weren’t there and they weren’t answering their phones.

That led to an initial fear that perhaps they’d run away; but obviously much, much worse had happened.

JMO

Do you think this is when they went in the water and clothes were taken off? Did Libby put the phone in her jeans pocket?

Maybe the phone got wet and turned off….then eventually turned back on at 4:33 am? Did the phone fall out of Libby’s jeans that Abby had on when he came after her to cut her throat and that’s how the phone was found underneath her?

Thoughts anyone?
Do we know what type of phone she had? Nowadays water isn’t a big deal, as phones can be submerged for a while with no impact.

That’s more of a relatively new development though, so it comes down to the make and model of her phone.

I could potentially see water playing a role in that.

"Shallow" appears to be 1" deep. That's not shallow IMO. I wouldn't want a 1" deep, 3" long cut anywhere on my body, with the neck being the worst area since there's no fat there. :(

The first autopsy was performed on Abby. Kohr noted Abby’s clothing, any physical injuries, and performed a rape kit. He said that Abby had a 1-inch deep, 3-inch long incision wound on her neck.

WISHTV updated the article later in the day--originally it said shallow. I suspect that once notes were compared with other reporters/the person writing the article got to talk to the reporter whose notes they were given, they fixed it. I am glad to see them doing that.

Impossible.

RA was on suicide watch from 1 April 2023.

3 March 2023 comes before 1 April 2023.

From your link, the warden didn't admit to knowing much about the suicide companions. He repeatedly referred to Dr. Wala as a source for that info. He did seem to know for sure about that April date. However he did go on to say this quote below; so we know he had companions from the beginning.
Page 52
I typically don’t look at the log sheets. The only time I intervene with the
suicide companions is how many he would be allotted to have. I think, when he
first got there, they switched I believe every four hours, the suicide companions.

*****************
Then we have this confirmation but it's not totally correct. The suicide companions were removed and replaced by COs because the companions were spreading the word of RA's finding Jesus and the resulting confessions.
  • Allen has been on “suicide watch” since last fall. The warden testified that Allen’s mental health seemed to decline a few months after he arrived when the defendant “received his legal paperwork.”
  • Because he is on suicide watch, the Indiana Department of Corrections has stationed a prison officer outside Allen’s cell around the clock. It used to be another inmate who was posted at Allen’s cell door as part of the facility’s “companion program,” but the warden said that changed once Allen’s mental state declined.
*************************
We also have the affidavits from the two suicide companions but I'm not inclined to hunt them up.

If it were a family member or friend perhaps they just had a very Bad intuitive feeling that things were not going to end well and it certainly Did Not...

They did that yesterday with one of the girls allegedly timidly saying “hi.”

I think this might actually be the point where “gun” is mentioned in the AA, but I’m not sure.

It is good that they are hashing out what they heard, so we get something that’s more accurate.

Cecil said two people were using the phone: Abby and Libby.
The touch ID had 6 fingerprints saved.
Cecil presented a timeline of activity on Libby's phone on that day:

1:41:44 p.m. - A picture was posted to Snapchat
1:43:59 p.m. - Another picture was posted to Snapchat
2:05:10 p.m. - Another picture was posted to Snapchat of the Monon High Bridge
2:07:20 p.m. - Last time the phone was unlocked
2:13:51 p.m. - Video recorded showing Abby walking across the Monon High Bridge with someone behind her
2:14:41 p.m. - Someone tries to unlock the phone

2:32:39 p.m. - Last movement of phone
10:32:06 p.m. - Last signal from phone

So, only about 7 seconds after the bridge guy video is taken, someone tries to unlock the phone. Too many scenarios spring to mind. :(

Do we know what type of phone she had? Nowadays water isn’t a big deal, as phones can be submerged for a while with no impact.

That’s more of a relatively new development though, so it comes down to the make and model of her phone.

I could potentially see water playing a role in that.

Libby had an iPhone 6S which is not rated as water resistant or waterproof by Apple.

This is insane.

So bridge guy was with a group of stressed people at the mears lot?!?
Not the way I read it. To me, she's talking about 2 different things she saw. A group of people at the entrance, and also, a man covered in mud and blood walking along the road. Being seen walking along a road isn't the same placement as a group of people standing at the entrance. All JMO of course. :)

she said she saw a group of people at the Mears entrance, including a girl wearing pink who appeared visibly stressed. She also saw a man covered in “mud” and “blood” walking along a country road. She said she drove past the man, who did not acknowledge her,

I was being very unclear, apologies. The DT have been theorising that the girls were abducted and moved to a secondary location. It read to me, as if the only indicator that they did not move from that location was Libby's step tracker that had stopped moving at 2:32pm, and the DT suggested they could have been moved in a car, thus the step counter not registering movement.

However, since the phone was still on, continuously connecting to the tower until past 10pm, it is almost impossible that the girls were taken to another location.

All MOO

Edit: last movement of the phone was 2:32:39, not 2:39

Does anyone happen to have any idea what type of CLOTH could possibly leave a mark like duct tape would leave? Genuinely asking.
The report is saying cloth or duct tape, moo in the sense of abrasion from restraint.
Moo a shirt sleeve or cotton rope could leave that kind of mark.

I saw some video footage of that road recently - it is quite narrow and nothing like what I would have imagined.

I doubt anyone driving it would miss the details of someone they drove by whatsoever unless flying by, distracted or not interested.

But if someone saw someone walking that stretch of road bloody and muddy or muddy and bloody why did they not stop to ask if that person was okay or at the very least report it to the police?

And now that I have seen that road and area it really makes me wonder.

She was a young adult
No way in heck would I then or even now, stop a Bloody & Muddy man walking on the side of the road
Just a Hard NO

I've told my daughters to never do that either and now my granddaughter is driving and we all have been discussing things like this with her--
It is Just not safe for a young woman who is by herself (or even with other friends) to do this.

She had an iPhone, don’t know what model.

Here are the iPhone release dates. I wouldn’t expect a 14 yr old to have the latest model, but maybe an older one from a family member who got a newer one.

Every iPhone release in chronological order: 2007-2024 | Digital Trends

ETA: I see people posted it was a 6S
