Court is back in session at 11:35 a.m. as the state called Steve Mullin for the third time.

Mullin said he got a call from Richard Allen on Sept. 21, 2022. He reached out to Dulin to ask if there was any additional info. Mullin said Dulin forwarded information to him and Tony Liggett; after learning there were two cars registered to Allen, he went to Hoosier Harvestore to look for them.

He told the jury that Tony Liggett went to the CVS and found Allen’s car and then they looked for it on the Harvestore footage.

Mullin said Liggett looked at the video and found the vehicle matching the description. The timestamp was 1:27 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2017.

Baldwin interjected, telling Mullin that “it’s only your opinion” that your car matches.

Hoax or great injustice?

If it’s clearly his car he’s done IMO. but we know it’s his car because he saw the 3 girls just minutes later …

Just curious, whose idea was it to be interviewed about murdered kids in the Save-a-Lot parking lot?

Home not ok. Police station not ok.

Save-a-Lot parking lot-- well, ok!

Dulin? Or someone else? OMGoodness, was that Rick's idea??
DD testified that RA did not want to meet with him at home and did not want to come in to meet with him at police station. RA suggested parking lot becaue he had an errand at the Save-A-Lot anyway

So DD could have written down anything, and he can't remember anything outside of what he wrote. The Fishing license may have been purchased by someone else who may have guessed at RA's height... oh man. Not brilliant imo.
And Dunkin said he NEVER thought about RA between 2017 and 2022. This man who came to him after two brutal murders and placed himself at the scene. He never thought of him again. What the <modsnip>

are you suggesting Dulin framed him but then forgot about it for 5 years?
No, why would I even suggest such a thing?
I'm saying that RA has a very bad memory or whatever.
Why do you think he changed his timeframe in the wrong direction.

Thank you @AugustWest for the latest docket updates.

and anyone -is Steve Mullin the lead investigator in this case - I forgot what his "title" is... TIA!

At the time of the murders he was the Chief of Delphi police but later in the investigation he stepped down from that role and became an investigator for the Carroll County Prosecutor's Office.

The net is closing in around RA thankfully.

And we still have weeks to go.

I wonder when RA, who may have self-reported his name wrong, got his next phone after no longer using his 2017 phone.

I see deliberate counter measure, colloquially referred to consciousness of guilt.

And a theme perchance. Why did he self-report? Because his wife...

No conclusions, just observations.

Also, I wonder if he was trying to hide that he was admitting to being there to his family.
I also would give anything to know when his family knew or heard that he was on the trails and the MHB that day.

Wasn’t one of his admissions is that he was watching fish that day?

I think that statement was the world play of a psychopath. To him, Abby and Libby were what they call "fish in a barrel" once he had them cornered on that bridge. I know it's morbid, that is just my opinion also. So MOO.

I think RA self reported because a) he knew others were out there that day and he may have been seen by witnesses who could possibly identify him b) what better way to try to pump someone involved in the investigation for clues as to what LE did or did not have, and I think he wanted it in parking lot not at police station because scary, and not at home because, wife/neighbors, etc. jmo speculation

I do tend to think the officer transposed it himself, but the date that he got rid of the phone is going to be very telling.

When was it? What was going on in the investigation (press releases/conferences).

Understood, but do you think RA actually thought about Dulin in that time?

That to me is the more important question. Missing phone and all, I tend to think RA did.

I wonder when or if he ever told KA about the 2017 self reporting. Did she know he had done so back in 2017 or was she only made aware in 2022 when his name resurfaced and LE reached out again? I would imagine that was a shock if she was not already aware he was out there that day.

I also imagine in a small town that people for weeks after were gossiping about the case in hushed tones and telling one another well, I knew the Williams girl, her cousin is my hair dresser (for example) or I was out there that day, it is so scary thinking that I could have fallen victim to or seen something. Did RA ever chime in when/if those conversations wre happening around him?

it’s funny how the D raved on about lack of digital evidence in the Franks but forgot to mention why that was ….

He apparently said himself, he self-reported because his wife....

IMO his wife thought he needed to help LE (perhaps never dreaming at that point he was responsible), nudging him to call in.

Why did he change his time while talking with RE? Perhaps to look super helpful, credible, careful, accurate. A guy who wants to be exact about his times isn't going to be inaccurate about whom he saw on the trail. Well, unless....

How did RA know Abby and Libby weren't two of the three girls he said he saw? He said he didn't get a good look, didn't he?

No mistake on the time though. He confirmed it.
