Allen’s wife Kathy was not in court to witness her husband’s sentencing and Judge Gull dismissed the defense’s contention that the hardship his imprisonment would cause her should be seen as a mitigating circumstance.

Addressing Allen who wore a grey sweatshirt over his orange prison jumpsuit, his wrists cuffed and fixed to the transportation belt around his waist, Judge Gull said, ‘I’ve been a criminal court judge for 25 years and presided over the most hideous cases in the state of Indiana.

‘You rank as one of the most hideous. You’re right up there. You rank right up there with the extraordinary impact [your actions] have had on the families…generational impact.

‘The families will deal with your carnage forever and you sit here and roll your eyes at me as you have rolled your eyes at me repeatedly during this trial.’

@Courttv

Judge Gull said she was touched at #RichardAllen's sentencing when hearing a victim impact statement about "generational trauma."

Allen was sentenced to 130 years for killing teen girls #AbbyWilliams & #LibbyGerman.

#CourtTV's @NewsyBarbara is LIVE with what she saw inside the courtroom. #DelphiMurders

Sounds like she let loose a little bit after what has been an awful spectacle by the defence team.

MS theorized his D won’t allow him to speak with anyone at all for fear he’ll confess.
Can anyone explain to us laypeople why the DT doesn’t want him to confess? Isn’t it the defendant’s right to plead guilty, admit guilt or testify and the defense teams responsibility to respect his wishes? I’ve wondered this the entire trial…

Max Lewis reporting on six victim impact statements:

1. Carrie Timmons - RA has "left a path of destruction." She said if RA would put her on his visitor's list, "I would listen."

2. Josh Lank, Libby's cousin - Spoke directly and harshly to RA. "Now it's time for your life to be a living hell as well."

3. Both of Abby's grandparents - "We hope you have found God." "I will never be the same person I was before Abby's murder."

4. Mike and Becky Patty - Brought up that RA had developed photos for the girls' funeral. BP mentioned how profoundly angry she is that he did that, knowing he killed her granddaughter. The defense team was attacked for the release of the crime scene photos.

reminds me of the day RA loudly thanked his team for the coffee and said how wonderful it was (paraphrasing). I posted at the time that it was like a major F you to the families and him rolling his eyes throughout the trial fits right in with that attitude.

Now he can roll his eyes as much as he wants for the next 130 years. He earned that sentence.

The Judge gave RA a chance to speak after the impact statements and before sentencing which he declined.

This should be so remarkable, right?

If I were sentenced to 130 years for a crime I had not committed, I would have PLENTY to say before I was locked away forever.

But of course he has nothing to say.

Nothing in his defense because he knows he did it.

Nothing to say by way of apology to the families because he is a monster who isn’t sorry for what he did.

[prosecutor Nick McLeland] Finishing his brief response, he reminded them of the testimony of Libby's grandmother Becky Patty (right) delivered on the first day of evidence. He said, 'Libby told her, 'Someday I'm going to grow up and help police solve crimes that's exactly what she did, and she brought Abby along with her'

They are sticking with the argument that RA is Innocent, hoping to get him off here which didn't work.

It will also be the theme in the appeals trial, which they are saying would be at least a year or more.

Yes but why? If he wants to confess, why are they so adamant against letting him?

Yes.
For RA to say nothing, to not participate as requested by his attorneys, is just another slap in faces of the families. The defense continues their despicable behavior.

RA has changed his mind from the confessions and wanted the opportunity to be found Not Guilty. Maybe for himself, maybe for his family, maybe because RA realized he didn't want to sit in prison for 130 years. LOL
