GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #220

  • #861
I think it’s obvious I would never defend that lowlife, but I imagine the recordings of calls we heard as evidence were only the ones which implicated him in the murders or cast him as being involved or in a negative light. Any calls deemed "ordinary" or not making him look guilty would most likely be ignored. Odd that his attorneys may not have brought that up in court to the jury to try & curb the damage a bit, IMO - note I haven’t read through the entirety of the transcripts.

I really do understand from where you’re coming & agree with where you’re leaning but it’s also important to keep in mind we’re dealing only with evidence presented at trial which isn’t necessarily representative of every phone call he may have made or taken in which he may have had discussed other things such as his daughter. I tend to feel he didn’t ask about her on the recordings we did hear because he was more focused on getting what he wanted from the person to which he was speaking at the time.

MOO
Thank you for replying and of course you're right, I didn't think of that.
Either way the daughter has my complete sympathy. I can't imagine how badly this must have affected her.

What happened to RA's "prizes"?
I thought he had kept an unspent Winchester .40 cal round in a “keepsake box” on the dresser, in his bedroom?

  • #863
Likely in the same place as the cell phone he owned in 2017 but was not present in his home when LE searched it.

MOO
Agree. In hole somewhere.

That is likely the one in the chamber that made them obey.

Indeed he did. I hope the court docs of that box get released. I've been so curious about it since the details of the search warrant were released.

I could’ve sworn that I have seen a photo of this. Maybe during one of his interrogations? Maybe not, so don’t quote me on that

Agreed.

And he knew something only the killer could know.

He knew he racked the slide while on the bridge or just off it.

He knew the killer didn't shoot the girls.

He knew that a cartridge spit out on the bridge couldn't walk how-ever-many-feet to between where the girls were found.

Only someone who was there could know all that.

What he got wrong, what he failed to realize, was that HE gave the cartridge legs (his) and walked it to where it was found.

So many different ways he accidentally told on himself.

Good point. What an exhausting liar.

I believe the state’s evidence photo of the keepsake box containing an unspent round (as shown in the lower left corner of the box) which @Megnut posted above was taken after his first interview with LE when they searched his home on 13OCT22. He was interviewed again on 26OCT22 during which Holeman showed him 2 different photos of his keepsake box which contained the Winchester round.

Ugh - tell me about it. Just rewatched about half of the 2nd interview & he’s like a broken record, “I’m not going to tell you something I didn’t do."

His acting is even worse than his lying - he never flinched a muscle when shown a picture of his round with LG’s foot showing up in a corner of the photo. Impossible to be sure, but it appeared to me that when Holeman left the room, the murderer couldn’t help but look at his work in that picture. I would be forced to either push it away or turn it over. The liar seemed to not be able to stop peeking at it, as hard as he tried to pretend to be bothered by being accused. Everything about him was just off.

No problem. Took me a while to find it. Easy to misremember as there is quite a bit of evidence & such.

Hard to tell if it was the exact same photo but there were 2 & JH specifically was asking about that box & the round - also pointing out the round at the lab & the one in the box were the only 2 Winchester rounds. His new brand found in the gun & in boxes during the search were made by Blazer.

To add another point -- LG may have sustained devastating wounds, was still alive for a period of time, and then received a final fatal injury. I believe that's consistent with the crime scene and the autopsy report.

A father himself that could inflict those injuries, watch two little girls suffer, ultimately dispatching them from a world they didn't want to leave is no father at all.

Ricky Allen is a fraud of a human being.

JMO
Agreed, he is a skin suit wearing monster. He wanted to do exactly what he did to Abby and Libby that day, that didn't just pop into his head out of nowhere.

IMO

"[Investigator] went over all the garments. The sweatshirt, the shoes, the pants, the underwear. The CSIs and the dive team had recovered everything, aside from Libby's underpants and a single sock. Those had either been taken as trophies by the killer, or else washed away down Deer Creek"

What happened to RA's "prizes"?
I think RA probably used those 2 items in a perverse way while revisiting the moment fantasy (pleasure) thing. He would have eventually gotten rid of them at some point. Maybe after the first LE interview in 2022 before the SW was executed? He had days to get rid of them.

Or perhaps back in 2019 when Carter had that Press Conference and RA got spooked by the 'new direction' and the speech of 'we know you are here, hiding in plain sight, wanting to know what we know'.

He couldn't bear to part with the memento bullet in the keepsake box and it wouldn't be as obvious to anyone as the victim's sock or pair of underwear. IMO

Uggggh, I despise that little evil weasel of a man even more as time passes.

Finished the MS book and I thought I knew how lowly and reprehensible the defense was, I didn't. It's beyond belief that charges were never levied, no consequences, everyone of them skated, except the poor regretful soul that ended his own life. AJMO

Finally, a peak into RA's work life:

"A longtime retail veteran with management experience at Walmart and CVS, [RA] had a few issues with other employees. Some bore the brunt of Allen's controlling side. They felt he was a micromanage who fixated on their work and made their jobs harder. But to the rest, he was quiet, unobtrusive, and relatively well-liked by his team. Most of the CVS workers did not know hi too well. He did not talk about himself, although he would sometimes surprise everybody with his sense of humor. Back in his Walmart tenure, he displayed a darker side. Some who worked under him found him to be a leering creep, oozing desperation"
