I'm actually quite surprised the investigators haven't received a lot more flak. Perhaps it's because they all do appear to be geniunely decent people, doing their absolute best.

But we shouldn't forget that this crime was not investigated competently for several years.

All the time wasted on press conferences and appealing for help from outside when everything they needed was under their own roof the entire time.

But they got the break they needed in the end. Not through their own work, but thanks to a volunteer who was able to find the needle they themselves misplaced in their giant investigative haystack.

The case was too big for Delphi and surrounding community. They did get some help from the state and the FBI, but data management ended up being their biggest problem/.

Actually the sad riddle is more like this:

One man was on a bridge.
Two little girls were murdered.
Did the man see the murderer?

How I wish justice hadn't taken all those painful years but I don't want to lose sight of what's easy to forget -- that the tip was found/recognized and that it existed to be found. Had it been discarded and how easily it could have been, he'd still be free...

Slow police work but they got it done.

MOO RA self report being on the trail was in the first week. They need to take their medicine. They probably lost focus with so much brass descending on the town.

Maybe it's a matter of scale, but the case wouldn't have been solved if Rick hadn't come forward in the first place.

I still credit LE with the initial interview (what's most unfortunate is that the weasel slithered out of an interview AT THE POLICE STATION, where is like to think a seasoned officer would have recognized the stick in Rick's story.

Thankfully there was a record of this early contact. Given where KS found it, it could have met with a paper shredder. That it existed, that it still existed was the only way for KS to find it.

Crazy the accidental mix-up of his name -- street in place of surname -- seems to be what caught KS's eye in the first place.

No question justice was delayed, but in the end, it was not denied.

He's never getting out.

Limited CCTV im the wider area.

No DNA.

An unidentified, bladed murder weapon.

Had Libby not brought CCTV to the bridge (in the form her cellphone camera), there'd be nothing but a sketch... not even a timestamp nor a record as to when, how and from which point they were abducted. Or by whom.

Libby and Abby should get the reward money, for provided the most tips with the greatest clarity. Astounding.

Libby and Abby should get the reward money, for provided the most tips with the greatest clarity. Astounding.

Any one of these below facts would have led to no arrest:

1) No Libby video
2) RA not coming forward.
3) The folder with the cleared person discrepancies not being found/questioned.


That is, the bullet, the eyewitness accounts, and all the other evidence would not been enough to identify or arrest anyone.

And yet, there was video. Courageous joint effort to film their abduction and conceal the phone, even as they were forced to undress, through 18 minutes of what we don't want to imagine, culminating in their vicious murders.

It's too bad that those closest to this sniveling monster didn't have the courage to tip him in. They knew he there that day. They saw the images/clip. Even if they couldn't 100% positively identify him, the coincidence alone should have compelled them to call it in.

Not wanting to believe it's more than a coincidence is not good enough.

Do you think that maybe the girls were trying desperately to escape him by crossing the creek? If he forced them to undress before crossing the creek and then became distracted by the van, maybe they grabbed what clothes they could and ran across the creek to escape him, dropping some clothing items in the creek as they fled?
I know we will never know the truth about what happened to that day. He will never tell the truth.

I don't believe he realized he was filmed until it was released to the media.

IIRC, police said that after taking video of him, Libby put her phone in her pocket, still recording audio. I don't think he knew she was recording anything.

I think he forced them INTO the creek to wash away DNA. I don't think he did nothing for the 15+ minutes before they crossed.

I also think that Libby was trying to save their lives by convincing RA to let Abby go. IMO Abby had Libby's pants on because that is how Libby passed the phone to her.

Rick was either never going to let anyone go or he was about to and got spooked. It might be the real moment he heard BW's van and knew he could not get caught with two little girls in a state of undress. And that muight be the exact moment he fatally wounded Abby, and seeing that, Libby tried to run toward the van.

Rick Allen is a cruel, vile, violent predator. Is, was. He's right, no good person does that.

No good person. The worst.
