What happened to days 7,8,9 and 10?
I am going from the official start date of Oct 14th (jury selection, etc.) It was part of the quest for Justice IMO

The people who are most used to backing in to parking spots are LE.

I was at a bar and grille and noticed almost all the cars had been backed in to their spots. I jokingly said “what’s going on tonight, police retirement party?” The hostess nodded and said “yep!”
I think that you'll find that backing into parking spaces is common, and becomes habitual, for anyone who is accustomed to driving "fleet vehicles" (Government -Municipal, State, Federal etc).

Being retired military, there are a couple of reasons why we beome habitualized to "No Nose Diving" (nose/front end first) into parking spots.

1) Because we're usually driving taxpayer owned vehicles so the next bit, #2, is really important
2) Backing accidents are 100% preventable but make up something like 25% of all car accidents. Just think about all those idiot hoards who walk behind you (or worse yet, drive behind you) while you are already in the process of backing out of a space at Walmart, CVS or the local Sav-a-Lot
3) And, to get the heck out fast if we need to

Ergo, police, fire, amb, military .... we back in, so we can go when we need to gooooooo.

I do note that RA is ex-National Guard, so IMO it is perhaps a learned habit for him too. I certainly back in everywhere still ... after having the Military Police (aka MPs / aka MeatHeads) slapping a couple tickets on my personal car for nose diving into a parking spot once I got to work on base.

Not as common a habit amongst civilians who see that habit as odd.

So it ended up not being true that Richard Allen only spoke to law enforcement because the bridge guy picture had not been released yet.

Very interesting

JMO
No, that was not true. But we did find out something new, I believe. It was said that RA spoke to LE because he had told his wife that he was on the bridge on the 13th. So I guess she told him he should go help them out with anything he might have seen?

Has there been mention of when RA was asked if he was BG, and he said it can't be him if the photo was taken by the girls?

I'm trying to find it printed somewhere.

  • #885
Correct.
Momma, wife, daughter, son-in-law may have wondered where his Carhart Blue jacket was if he got rid of it due to the 'BLOODY & MUDDY" all over it.
So he replaced it.
JMO
And his wife never noticed that he had a brand new Carhartt jacket in the closet. IMO

from above link:

Mullin also said he asked Allen if he was "Bridge Guy," the man seen in the infamous photo and video following Abby and Libby on the high bridge.

"His response was, 'If the picture was taken with the girls' camera, there was no way it was him,'" Mullin testified.

eta a second article and third

Sorry for the simple question but were police able to recover the phone Richard Allen was using at the time of the murders?
No, not yet and probably never will.

Mullin told the jury he showed Allen a photo of “bridge guy” and that Allen responded, “If the photo was taken with the girl’s camera, it couldn’t be him.”

Thank you!

They'd look the same. How would she know it was brand new? I'd never know if my husband replaced a jacket or shirt with an identical new one. IMO

Something I've been thinking about...

Wasn't RA working at CVS during the time of Libby and Abby's murder? I don't mean at the exact time, and I know he said he had the day off. I mean employed at CVS at the same time in general (was he a current employee then). I keep thinking how apparently none of his coworkers put two and two together that RA was not at work the day of the murders AND that he somewhat resembled the BG video. I'm really surprised nobody called a tip in.
RBBM
I have never seen or heard RA stated he had that Monday off, I have seen and heard that he called in sick that day, but it was from a non MSM source. Do you have an approved link for your statement?

LE subpoenaed his CVS work records. Hopefully we will know the correct answer to this.

And you know that tens of thousands of those tips were pure junk. Just people calling in suggestions, or reporting things they’d seen on Facebook.
My son tells me that a big percentage of 'tips' end up being disgruntled spouses tipping in their ex's.

The video isn't cutting it for me. Just watching Crime TV and even Vinnie is questioning it.

Juicy!

Court resumed at 1:38 p.m. with defense attorney Andrew Baldwin cross-examining former Delphi Police Chief Steve Mullin.

Baldwin said to Mullin, “You lied to this jury, before lunch you lied to this jury.”

Baldwin said to Mullin, “You lied to this jury, before lunch, you lied to this jury.”

Mullin responded “Is there a question?”

Baldwin handed Mullin a copy of the Oct. 13, 2022, interview with suspect Richard Allen. Baldwin asked Mullin to point out exactly where Allen said he may have gone westbound on Carroll County Road 300 North to get to the trails on Feb. 13, 2017.

Mullin responded that Allen said he was travelling in a direction that seemed like it could have been westbound.

Baldwin asked Mullin if he had asked Allen if he went to the trails in a different way. Baldwin said this is because “they are desperate for Rick to have been going west.”

Prosecutor Nick McLeland objected over and over, saying Baldwin was impeding the questions with his opinions.

Baldwin said that “words matter on the stand, correct? Especially if those words impact the timeline.”

Baldwin asked Mullin, “For your theory to work, Richard Allen’s car had to be at the CPS (drugstore) lot between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.?”

Mullin said he wasn’t giving direct quotes from Allen.

The jury asked Mullin, “Were you in an interview with Mr. Allen where he stated he didn’t remember which way he took to the trail?”

Mullin responded, “Yes.”

Ok, I wish we had the entire exchange between these 2! And that jury question----seems they understood what Mullins was dealing with?

Maybe but, if you're an Indiana resident and have ever had a family member arrested, that's going to be a scary thing,

They are probably going to have to explain why he was finally released from prison.
Questionable jail/prison conditions and incidents are not only confined to the State of Indiana. It's the entire system across all States IMO. I believe LE thought RA was safer in a segregated unit in Westville within the IDOC vs jail.

There are prisons in States with worse records. It's a broken system that is sorely in need of repair for the well being and safety of all involved whether it be jail or prison.

<snipped & BBM>

Unconvicted prisoners accounted for 74.6% of the total jail deaths. 40.4% of those dying in jail had spent less than a week in jail. Another 20.4% had been jailed less than a month. Prisoners charged with violent offenses accounted for 37.2% of deaths, the largest grouping according to offense type.

In related news:

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. — A former co-worker of Defense Attorney Andrew Baldwin, who is currently representing Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen in a highly anticipated jury trial, has had a misdemeanor charge dropped that was related to capturing and distributing sensitive crime scene evidence.

Mitchell Westerman of Westfield was charged in November of last year with one count of conversion – a Class A misdemeanor – after admitting in a sworn statement to local police that he was the person responsible for a leak of evidence related to the Delphi double murders.

Slap on the hand for the man who initially leaked the CS photos and started so much pain and drama online. I'm disappointed he didn't get some jail time or probation at least.

Zero mention of the case in the local paper once the trial actually got through all the initial motions for dismissals, etc.

I’d really like to know if that person continues to stop by their offices for his "friendly visits" any longer. I bet he does.

ETA: revised papers to paper, removed personal information.

A few more snippets of Liggett's testimony:

Liggett tells the jury that he did research on Allen’s vehicles in 2022 and that he went to CVS and got photos of the car. Liggett says the car was “backed in” at the CVS and “backed in” at the CPS building.

Liggett tells the jury about finding Allen’s gun and ammunition and that he found another 40 caliber Winchester cartridge. Liggett said he also found more 40 caliber ammunition from a different brand.

Liggett tells the jury a blue Carhartt jacket was found.

THAT^^^ is interesting. I'd always wondered why he backed in. Maybe he just likes to park that way for whatever reason?

I agree with this. The idea that RA backed into his spot at the old building in order to conceal his license plate does not make sense IMO.
