Thanks.

I was wondering what the witness had to say about the defense claim he worked on the ATM's on the way home from work which would obviously affect the timeline.

So it's looks like the timeline fits as long as this witness didn't lie today on the stand. JMO.
Why in the world would he lie about that, for what purpose?

According to Murder Sheet, defense attorney Baldwin started the cross examination of BW by asking something along the line of "Isn't it true that you were out of town a week before the murders?". Prosecution objected on grounds that the question was outside of scope of his direct testimony. Bench meeting ensued, after which Baldwin was noticably angry (according to MS). Baldwin then suggested that BW didn't drive straight home and that he worked on some ATMs. BW said he worked on the ATMs in the morning and was vehement about driving directly there. Baldwin ended his cross and gave him a subpoena.
Thanks for the context. Definitely sounds like the defense misread a report or something and was caught with their proverbial pants down.

JMO

Totally respect your perspective! Open mined, I am
Although I have not followed these murders closely over the years, I am convinced that he is probably guilty due to evidence that has so far been presented.

My sense is that the psychologist made some big mistakes, but the prosecution still had to present her as a witness. If not, the defence would certainly have presented her as a compromised witness who tainted the statements and treatment of the accused.

The psychologist's testimony can be discarded without changing the course and integrity of the prosecution case providing RA made confessions prior to interacting with the psychologist. If all the confessions occurred after interacting with Dr. Monica Wala, I'm not sure they are valid.

If you work on ATMs there are logs, if not camera footage.

Nothing alters the fact it was found. However MOO it needs to be understood that the approriate oversight of tips was not completed nor apparently even assigned.
We don't know that. Didn't KS testify she found the box containing RA's tip somewhere that was a bit odd for it to be? I think there were so many tips it got disorganised finding areas to store them. Thank goodness for KS and her hard work!

Allowing the tips to become disorganized is a management issue, specifically the sheriff who has the authority to assign the teams.

I think it's quite powerful evidence for the jury. I'm hearing tomorrow there will be more audio, a couple hours worth I think. I wish we were hearing all this first hand
Oh yes! I've said over and over every day since the trial began that I wish we were seeing this live. Very frustrating.

I have a lot of experience dealing with mental health professionals in trial. Not a single one has ever destroyed their notes. Even Wala admitted it wasn’t standard practice in the industry.

So no I’m not an expert but my comments are based on my observations and experience, which are not insignificant.
That is interesting.

As a counterpoint, my wife is a licensed mental health professional in our state and she almost exclusively takes digital notes. If she takes written notes, she transfers them to the electronic record during her admin time and shreds or discards the written notes depending on how detailed they are. This is true for the other members of her practice as well.

Just an anecdote and just my (wife’s?) opinion.

Dr. Wala testified to an alleged timeline Allen gave her of Feb 13, 2017:• visited his parents that morning and left at lunch time
• bought a 6 pack, drank 3
• bundled up
• went to the trails
• saw the girls
• followed them across the bridge
• mentioned doing something with his gun, and that’s how he thought the cartridge got there
• told the girls to go down the hill
• crossed the creek
• wanted to sexually assault them, but got scared when he saw a van
• cut their necks
• made sure they were dead
• covered their bodies with branches
• stayed off the trails to leave so he wasn’t seen
• continued to live his life normally ever since

I”m not saying he lied cause I’ve no idea, I was just wondering, is there any chance he simply confused his date and wasn’t home when he thought he was? The investigation was well, lacking imo - so if LE didn’t check this, I wouldn’t be overly surprised. MOOOOO.

It is so common for sex offenders to skip over the part where they sexually abuse their victims. He was alone with the girls from 2:13 until approximately 3:30 (per testimony). He was seen walking near the road at 3:57 (muddy and/or bloody).

That is more than an hour that he spent with the girls, so I don't believe that there was no sexual assault. I think he got lucky with the absence of DNA.

But young teens might not think of him that way, as he was looking down, hunched over w/hands in pockets. And the other witness was driving by in a car---I don't think it's that easy to estimate height in that circumstance either.

BG was the only male that was seen by the only other people known to be in the immediate area. NONE of the witnesses testified that two males were seen in that area at that time. Only BG.

And RA has admitted that HE was there on the bridge at that time, and he never said anything about seeing another male there.

So it seems irrelevant imo, to nitpick about minor details in a witness's description based upon a fleeting memory. There was only one guy there in jeans and a dark coloured carrhart jacket, walking on the bridge with the girls. There is a video corroborating that fact. The defendant also corroborated that fact in his initial, voluntary interview.

Now we have him confessing repeatedly to the brutal crime. That is going to be hard to overcome, IMO.
You think it’s irrelevant and “nitpicking” to ask an eye witness how tall the person they remembered enough to report is, or get a general idea if they were average height, tall or as one witness is reported saying “taller” or if they were short?

RA corroborated this? “There was only one guy there in jeans and a dark coloured carrhart jacket, walking on the bridge with the girls. There is a video corroborating that fact. The defendant also corroborated that fact in his initial, voluntary interview.”

Are you sure?
