VERDICT WATCH Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #214

So for people who have jury watched before is it at all strange they are putting in so few hours at this juncture considering they have been away from their families for 3 weeks?

I would have personally been eager to get home and would be doing 8am-8pm if needed. I am just trying to understand the logic here. I am genuinely surprised that they went home so early today and wondering how normal this is?

IMO
I've never seen a sequestered jury deliberate so little hours and stopping early.

What are the odds that Libby and Abby have a connection to the KK catfishing...and RA? Does anyone else find it unusual? How did those 2 predators both find and connect with L and A? Admittedly I have not been glued to this case or the trial so I miss a lot.
I have often wondered if RA recognized either girl or knew who their parent’s were. I often wondered if he knew Abby’s mom from bartending and that could be why he seemed to have more regret in his confessions with her.
Idk stranger on stranger crimes happen all the time but given the size of this town I wouldn’t find it surprising or there is a connection.
RA seemingly recognized a family member when they came in to develop pictures.
It’s all so weird.

Honestly I think that there are going to be major differences in opinion and if things are deadlock to the point that a juror(s) is being inflexible- I’d personally want to cut it short too- 12 hrs of “did not/did too!”

Bickering would make things stressful and more difficult to eventually come to an agreement- I think juries tend to be willing to put in longer hours if they are making progress-

Another consideration is the nature and severity of what they’ve heard these last 3 weeks and might not be able to mentally/emotionally deal with the deliberations for hours on end

I don’t know- moo
I think the judge should have stated that the jury is to deliberate to 4 pm.

Hmmm that is interesting that they knocked off after a half day. My opinion is there is more than one person on the other side of the fence or they might keep going to try and convince one person to change their mind and wrap it up.

No.

If they were hung, the judge would have been notified and I think that would have been reported. We'd hear something like the judge told them to continue deliberating.

I think they are at the paperwork stage. Watching these videos was to confirm or refute consensus IMO.

(I learned this while watching another trial -- assuming it would hold true here, too -- if the jury wants to review a video, they have to review it in its entirety. Even if there's only one little clip they want to see again.)

My prediction: Monday, they will reconvene, review, fill out the paperwork, stay for lunch and render a verdict.

IMO they'll find him guilty on all charges.

I agree with this.

Assuming the catfishing was occurring & RA was involved, the communication was only between shots & LG. KK always claimed LG was annoying to him. It’s possible RA wasn’t expecting a 2nd girl until he saw them walk past him. I do like where you’re going with the AW & her mom angle.

It’s also feasible it was only KKs acct being used & RA was on the other end all along when msg’ing LG.

So many puzzles to all of it.

Jury dismissed for the day, anyone else coming around to the fact that we are looking at a hung jury?
Could be. It is still soon. But doesn’t the judge issue an urge to the jury at some point?

It would add to the coincidences if in the trial of Richard Allen, the jury brought in from Allen County will have to receive an “Allen charge” from the judge.

I cant blame the jurors for deliberating for short period of time.
This case is heavy.
14 hours deliberations is not a long time.

It’s got to be exhausting and horrifying to spend your time thinking about what happened to Abby and Libby.
The murders were brutal. It’s hard to think about their deaths.

We can all relate to Abby & Libby.

The jurors need breaks and time away from such horror.

Glad the jury is being careful and are making impartial decisions based on facts and using common sense and their own life experiences.

I am actually thankful for this jury and for their commitment, and I know y'all are.

Did I imagine this but I thought it was said the Jury could deliberate as long as they wanted during the day?

I am sure I saw this posted one on one of the threads.

I will add IMO incase I am going nuts and don’t want to be reported for misremembering.
Maybe. But I think they woiuld opt to keep the schedule they have.
Its been gueling, MOO They all need the rest and private time.

I believe Saturdays were always short.
During the trial i remember Saturday being a shorter day..but this article days Saturday deliberations would be until 4pm.

Deliberations underway

According to instructions, the jury will deliberate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until they decide Allen’s fate.

And they started a hour later at 10am

Harsh schedule. 44 hour weeks of exposure to horror, crazy defense ideas, contentious exchanges, experts who are not as good a Google search etc. now
