Of course. It’s a capital case. It would be appealed if there was a guilty verdict regardless of evidence.
Isn’t this a LWOP case (no death penalty)? No auto appeal, and appeals must be approved. I could be wrong, but could have sworn the penalty for guilt was possibly LWOP.

Thank you the the jury for being thorough and making a well considered judgement. Thoughts with Abby and Libby’s family and friends as this all hits them. Teary myself so can only imagine.

I'm not a GH fan but I very much agree with his words (on Court TV) regarding people on YT who have targeted family members of Libby and Abby. One of those YT'ers... she was REALLY horrible and it's a shame she has followers. jmo

Beat ya to it by an hour and a half!
Bam!!!
What a day....
He killed them before a holiday.
He was found guilty before a holiday.
He will be sentenced before a holiday.
He said several times he was selfish...
Look what he took from his own family!

None of us would be here right now if Libby hadn't courageously captured her killer on camera. She really did help Police like she said she wanted to when she grew up.

Libby's bravery is unmatched and Kathy Shank's attention to detail is remarkable.

Subsequently the smoking gun in this case was RA's own words beginning on February 16th, 2017.

Richard Allen found guilty

Delphi Murders suspect Richard Allen was found guilty on all four charges after 21 days in one of the most high-profile trials in Indiana history.

Allen was found guilty on two counts of felony murder and two counts of murder for the 2017 deaths of Abigail “Abby” Williams and Liberty “Libby” German.

The verdict was announced just after 2 p.m. Monday after several hours in court throughout the morning.

News 8’s Kyla Russell says Allen will be sentenced Dec. 20. A gag order is in place until the sentencing, meaning Allen, lawyers, families, and witnesses will not be allowed to speak on the verdict. A post-verdict press conference has been canceled, per the Indiana State Police.

As someone who lives in Indiana, there is finally justice for Abby and Libby!
But their families will never have their little girls with them again. It’s heartbreaking.

Great news, I can believe many seemed to think he was innocent?

2 beautiful young girls lives taken away much too soon by a monster.

I’ve followed this case for so long that I was unsure this day would ever happen.

I hope Abby and Libby, wherever they may be, are resting peacefully and I hope their family’s feel justice today even if it has taken all this time.

To all my fellow WSers, thank you for being here, all of us who were encouraging each other through the despair.
Thank you for the information you’ve steadily provided.
Mods, I’m sure it’s been a Herculean task to keep 215 threads in order. Thank you.

Kathy Shank deserves a parade in her honor IMO

(ETA being very slightly facetious to be clear. The reward money would be a good start.)

It took less than 2 minutes for the verdict to play out for all four counts to be read out as guilty.

The judge asked the defense team if they wanted to poll the jurors and they did so each juror said that was their verdict.

Richard Allen sat emotionless during the verdict as it was read. The defense counsel had their arm around him (Baldwin).

The families of Abby and Libby were overcome with emotion. BP was clutching MP's arm when the verdict came in. Doug Carter put his head down into his hands and began to cry.

The judge thanked attorneys on both sides.

RA was led away in handcuffs. Once he was out of the room, then reporters really saw emotion. Doug Carter reached back and held onto BP's hand. Even reporters were emotional at this point.

During the sentencing portion of the verdict, RA turned around and looked at KA and said "Are you okay?" KA was crying, RA's mother was crying.

As the courtroom cleared out, Jerry Holeman hugged the prosecution team and kissed NMc.
