You totally have the legal right to do so, but you have to realise that LE will raise an eyebrow that you do not want to come in and will not allow them into your home is step 1 push back.
RED FLAG. They WILL look at your harder... and listen extra carefully.
Singularly and with no crime committed this will not get you into trouble.

its the collective REDFLAGS of pushback, lies, avoidance.
Starting with.... 'neutral' meeting location with LE.

MOO
Maybe LE are different where you live than where I live- as someone who hasn’t committed crimes or ever been asked to go to a station, how I do things has worked for me and I’ve always had the contact numbers I’ve needed- and rarely been unable to handle things over the phone- lived experiences vary… my own experience, my own opinions

On February 15, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. is when LE released the still frame picture of BG and asked the public's help in identifying the man. They just want to talk to him no mention of him being a suspect.

On February 16, 2017 is when they set up a tip line and RA gives his tip.

On February 18, 2017 RA talks to DD.

On February 19, 2017 LE say they consider the man in the picture a suspect in the crimes.

It's so frustrating how this case could have been solved within a week of the crime had someone not misfiled/cleared the tip and instead LE followed up with RA. SMH.
M00 he would have never contacted LE if his wife hadn't said, "That's you! You probably have info they could use. You need to go talk to them asap." M00

I assume harriet_eva you are a good law abiding citizen.:)

The context of my post is suggesting the opposite, because of totality of situation.

Couldn’t she have called in a tip herself over the years? I’m not saying he’s not guilty- and I have no personal knowledge of what motivated him to call in the tip on himself, or talk with DD… but if it was just pressure from a spouse, I would think he could have easily placated her with a “you’re right honey…” followed up by “I gave them my information…” and just moved on with life … maybe I’m missing something… moo

It’s also presuming guilt on behalf of RA … which I’m assuming is possibly a position that was held prior to the rendering of a verdict…

My original point and comment was related to the action of seeking a neutral site, not wanting to go to the police station and not wanting LE in his home were a priori de facto signs of a guilty or at least a not innocent person…

I was providing context that that might not be true and in hindsight while it might be suspicious I suppose, that at the time, in real time, it might not be a neon light or RED FLAG… especially in a small town after a traumatic murder and a chaotic investigation…

moo

And yes- generally speaking, by most metrics, I’m basically law abiding as the next person, at least that’s how I see it :)

I think this was a premeditated sexual assault (victim(s) unknown) when RA planned this before he arrived at the trails. I have always thought this. I don't think this was premeditated murder well in advance per se unless he thought that nothing was going to get in his way of committing this crime and if he had to resort to killing so be it.
I think he thought he would kill himself after acting out his fantasy. That's what he told himself to get the courage to go for it in the middle of the day. But when he freaked out after seeing the van, reality set in that he couldn't go through with the SA or suicide, and now he needed to protect himself from his family finding out.

We won’t know unless RA tells the whole truth. IMO if this is what happened to his train of thought, we could only WISH that after “seeing the van and reality set in,” he had reached the conclusion that he couldn’t go through with murdering Abby and Libby.

More so than RA just thinking that a van went by and so he opted out of suicide and/or SA, but still went ahead with a double murder.

Not saying you are wrong, of course,——just saying we don’t know what he was thinking, despite him saying that he saw the van and that messed him up somewhat.

If only that had interrupted him completely and not partially.

This 2/16/17 11Alive article said trail cam.

“Indiana police are asking for the public's help identifying a man captured by a trail camera near the site where the bodies of 13-year-olds Libby German and Abigail Williams were found earlier this week.”

WHTR later cleared up the misreport.

“The photo investigators have been circulating of a suspect on the Monon High Bridge was also found on Libby's phone. Police used a Wednesday press conference to dispel rumors that the photo had been taken from a trail camera.

Thank you! This is what I remembered.

I didn't make the greatest post, but what I was trying to say is that maybe suicide was something that gave him "courage" to go after someone that day. He's alluded to suicidal thoughts and said something along the lines of "I was going to shoot myself that night" (I know I should provide a link and I can already feel it's going to be hard to find, but I will try!)
If the van had not gone by I have no doubt the outcome would have been the same. He wan't going to kill himself and he didn't want to get caught.

Agree. Suicidal statements are a statement that the person is going to kill a person, and of course that is usually themselves -
but murderers frequently have suicidal thoughts and make suicidal satements prior to killing someone else, and then don't kill themselves.

I for one am curious if RA will make a statement at sentencing and if JG will allow cameras in the courtroom? Especially since the defense will not (I don’t think) have the opportunity to turn it into a spectacle. Or will he go down, forever silent?

Thoughts anyone?
I wonder the same thing. Now that he has been found guilty, will he express remorse and apologize to the families? Even when I ask a question, it feels strange to make an argument for someone who confessed to the murders over 60 times. If he does express remorse and apologize to the families then any lingering questions I have about this case will finally be put to rest.

Maybe, KA would have found out, if RA indeed initiated contact to LE. So he HAD to do it, just to be safe re his wife. IMO

No. Appealing means not saying anything.

If the conservation officer had asked Richard Allen on February 16th (or before February 22nd since I do not know the exact day) if it was him in the video recording and he had said yes even if he thought it was a trail cam, that would have been a shock because the moment he admitted he was the person on the trail cam, the police would have had their killer.

That person in the video recording, based on their location on the Monon High Bridge and what happened in the next 43 seconds, even if they were not the killer, would have to have been an eyewitness to the actual kidnapping.

Ah, found what I've been looking for.

Re. Richard Allen's Oct 13th 2022 interview -

This is from Lawyer Lee's notes from watching the interview video in court,

timestamp 12.11
"So when he sort of described how he came to go to the police and it started out with 'they asked anyone who was there in the park that day when the girls were missing, when they were abducted, if you were there come in and talk'. He said 'I told my wife and she said "well they want to talk to everybody"' so he went to the Sheriff's station and voluntarily put his name and information down. So a couple of days later Officer Dulan calls him and at the time, RA is in his car..."

What he doesn't mention of course is the photo and appeal they had released:

15th Feb 2017

ISP: "We're going to track them down"

Indiana State Police released the photo below on Wednesday. They say this man was on the Delphi Historic Trail around the time that Abby and Libby were there. They want to speak to him about what he may have seen.

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS MAN?
Indiana State Police say he was walking on the Delphi Historic Trail around the same time as Abigail Williams and Liberty German were there on Monday.
If you can identify the person in this photo or were parked in the lot contact the Carroll County Sheriff's Department at (765) 564-2345 or Indiana State Police at (765) 567-2125.

Is this correct?

"When the girls were missing, when they were abducted" ?
He went to the sheriff's station and a couple days later Dullin called him and that was on the 16th?
Or do I misunderstand?
When the girls were still missing they were presumed "runaways" not abducted.

Libby's and Abby's bodies were found Tues 14th Feb.
Police put out the bridge guy photo Weds 15th Feb (around noon is the earliest tweet posted in our first thread) and asked people who recognized him to contact police. By that time they knew the girls had been abducted/murdered, they were no longer missing.
Richard Allen *claims* he went and gave his contact info. on Thurs 16th Feb.
Officer Dulan interviewed Richard Allen in the parking lot on Sat 18th Feb.

I think "missing" is either Lawyer Lee or Richard Allen misspeaking. I can't tell if she was correcting herself or if Richard Allen corrected himself.

nb. I'm not sure if it has been confirmed by LE that he went into the station, or if he just called in his info. So I'm treating it as a claim.

"He asks about talking to Officer Dulan back in the day, and he says shortly later they were asking people, they explained, why did you reach out back in 2017, and he explains that they started asking for people that were there at the trail that day to go down to the police station, or go make a tip… I’ve thought about it a LOT since then..."

timestamp 17.30 (Lauren HTC Day 10)

Lauren describes it as just people who were there that day, so I think Lawyer Lee may have been adding in her own context as regards the day the girls went missing/were abducted.

In this comprehensive timeline it states that ISP released the photo at 7:00 p.m. on February 15, 2017.
