Guess it's pretty much over at last.

Glad to finally hear a public apology from the police to the family for botching the investigation for several years. It came from Liggett in the press conference:

"I want to aplogise to them that it took us 8 years to get to this point."

Also enjoyed Carter saying how he wished we could have heard the victim impact statements from the family members. So do we Doug! But the court did not afford us the opportunity.

According to the website I plugged the numbers into, it was 2867 days from crime to sentencing.

It's been 2868 days since convicted double child killer Richard Allen took the beautiful lives of Abigail Williams and Liberty German.
  • 2868 days
  • 247 795 200 seconds
  • 4 129 920 minutes
  • 68 832 hours
  • 409 weeks and 5 days
Today we learned, although many of us suspected, that he will be locked up until Friday, December 20, 2154, the maximum sentence.
  • 47 482 days
  • 4 102 444 800 seconds
  • 68 374 080 minutes
  • 1 139 568 hours
  • 6783 weeks and 1 day
The entirety of the remainder of his miserable life. I do so hope that the cell door slammed his butt on the way in.

Thank you Abby & Libby for your pivotal roles in bringing your killer to account. I've no doubt that you saved others in the long term.

Please be at peace.

I don't think them apologizing for it taking so long is the same as saying they are apologizing for "botching the investigation for several years". They just got through saying in the press conference that words matter. Yet, here we are.

My hope is that one day, Kelsi German’s children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren will be there to spit on his grave.

I agree to some extent, and did hope to see more contrition for their shortcomings, personally. Perhaps in time.

They also made it very clear that a volunteer going above and beyond is the reason we have finally got to this point. Think about that. Where would they be without Kathy Shank?

It's absolutely damning.

Below post RS&BM
Nick McCleland is taking questions: ...
His opinion is that if the Indiana Code allows for prosecution for people sharing the crime scene photos, he will pursue it.
....
Now that the trial is over and the sentencing is rendered, it is my hope that the misdeeds and possible criminal breach of the gag order that saw nude photos of minor, deceased victims released into the public domain does indeed result in some accountability for those responsible for not properly securing those items as they were required to do in the first place. Perhaps a professional review as well.

And this! The "fundraising venture" by the Team D:
I'd love to know what the private fundraising got spent on.

There has been noticeably zero transparency on it to date.
It was managed by Hennessy and he's been awfully quiet since even before the trial. Hmmmmm...
An investigation into it too is perhaps also needed. Criminal Fraud? Fraud? Against the State of Indiana?

I'll note that the most recent trial expense reports from the Prosecution and Defence, not a single red cent of that "fundraised" money is listed in the Defence filing as "Revenue", nor is any dime of it used to offset any billing costs being charged to the State of Indiana by them. Where did that money go? It was "collected" in the name of going towards the costs (specific or non-specific) of providing/assisting Richard Allen with his Defence costs. Where, indeed, did that money go? And, most importantly, why isn't it listed as revenue being used to offset the Defence costs for trial. Isn't that fraud - against the people who donated to that 'cause' and against the State in not listing it as 'Revenue'?

Excel documents detailing all itemized costs and expenditures through 25 November 2024, for both the Prosecution and Defence as well as "Security Costs" originally found at the link below. I will upload them all separately as well.

Yes this Kathy is a hero. I take my hat off to her.

Yet here we are. Not as quite as damning as being a convicted murderer of children with a 130 year sentence hanging over your head.

That sure seems unequivocally damning.:)

not nearly as damning as the evidence against the inmate who has now ben convicted and sentenced.

Sorry for asking a downer sort of question but does anyone know if RA is eligible for parole? I’m not seeing it being specifically mentioned.

TIA!
IMO, I think that if he is, the eye-rolling at the judge, the complete lack of remorse and the complete non-participation in his own pre-sentencing report will highlight to any Parole Panel that Richard Allen now takes absolutely ZERO responsibility or personal accountability for his actions.

That door slamming his butt when he slinked back into his cell today probably also caused the key to fall into a drain hole to hades - never to be seen again.

I believe his attitude is like this because he has his mother and wife who are always willing to let him play the victim and make excuses.

I will never forgive them for letting this drag out like they have and adding ten tons of pain to Abby and Libby’s families.

Glad she’s getting her due!

Surrounded by police and prosecutors, a retired government employee stood with a stoic expression as those around her heaped praise.

She was the key to solving one of Indiana’s most infamous crimes in recent memory.

Kathy Shank, who volunteered as a clerk, came across a box of tip sheets in a desk drawer that led to an arrest in the 2017 killings of Abigail "Abby" Williams and Liberty "Libby" German in Delphi.

On Friday, the man Shank helped identify, Richard Allen, was sentenced to the maximum punishment of 130 years in prison in their deaths.

She was the grandmother of our office, if you will," McLeland said. "She made sure that whatever we needed, she took care of and she never complained."

Shank said she was happy to be at the news conference and that there was justice for the families of the victims.

1. Carrie Timmons - RA has "left a path of destruction." She said if RA would put her on his visitor's list, "I would listen."
^This comment by Carrie had me curious as to why she’d want to listen to RA. I found some clarification in this article.

“Please put me on your visitors’ list. I’ll listen,” she said, alluding to Allen’s desire to apologize to the girls’ families from one of his confessions.

It’s a good question. I think most of the attorneys have left the thread. I’m trying to figure it out too. Since he was convicted of multiple felonies and 2 life sentences, per statue, seems like no?

3) A person sentenced upon conviction of first degree murder or second degree murder to a term of life imprisonment is eligible for consideration for release on parole upon completion of twenty (20) years of time served on the sentence. A person sentenced upon conviction of a felony other than first degree murder or second degree murder to a term of life imprisonment is eligible for consideration for release on parole upon completion of fifteen (15) years of time served on the sentence. A person sentenced upon conviction of more than one (1) felony to more than one (1) term of life imprisonment is not eligible for consideration for release on parole under this section. A person sentenced to a term of life imprisonment does not earn credit time with respect to that term.

I hoped to see some contrition from the defense team for the leaks, including crime scene photos.

Or maybe a shred of contrition from the murderer, Richard Allen.

But, nope, nada, not a peep.
Just an eye roll from RA.
That is damning.
