Did those called for jury duty know what case they were being called for before showing up yesterday? Wasn't there a questinarre beforehand? I ask because I am curious if it was explained before yesterday that this was a 5 ish week trial where they would be sequestered. That seems like something they should know so they can consult with their jobs and/or families to ensure if they were picked they could actually say yes. I would imagine it's hard to know if there is a conflict if you don't know exactly what you are being asked to do and for how long.
As in the case of the juror with childcare issues. When I saw one was a SAHM I wondered if that would be an issue. I also think of people having surgeries scheduled far out or work trips or training they must be present for and things like that. I assumed they would know so if they were picked they could know if there would be an issue and they could not be seated on the jury vs being seated and then bowing out the next day.
