Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #198

The fact that the girls weren’t shot does not get past the fact that RA put himself on the bridge at the right time, dressed in the right clothes and nobody, including his defense team, has been able to remove him yet.
Also, sworn testimony at the three-day hearing impeached the defense’s claim that RA said he shot them.

The sworn testimony by Harshman didn't impeach the claims. The defense has sworn affidavits from an inmate companion and a C/O that RA did say those things.

It's not a motive chosen by the P, it's what RA said his intentions were. ISP Harshman touch upon that fact in his testimony at the 3-day hearings, RA talked about his motive. NMcL has just confirmed it during voir dire. MO
The state also brought this out on their Cross of Dr. Perlmutter.

Q. Fair to say a crime could be sexually motivated, but before the sexual assault occurs, the crime is committed; fair? - NM
A. Could you say that again? - Dr. P
Q. Sure. The crime initially could be sexually motivated, but before any kind of sexual assault occurs, the person kills the victim. - NM
A. Yes. - Dr. P
Q. If the Defendant said that, would that be important information for you to review before you made your analysis? - NM

I wonder how RA's attorneys reacted when they heard about his confession letters, phone calls, his talks with his mental health doctor and his yelling out his guilt? I wonder if they told him he needed to muddy the waters a bit and start talking nonsense? Just a thought.

I hope so. I'm curious how he thinks that played out.

I really hate that the P chose that as a motive. The crime was so bad in itself, he really didn't need to go there.
Now that will be forever attached to this case. What a shame. In My Opinion
The Prosecution didn't 'choose' the motive. RA the Defendant chose the motive when he decided to murder Abby & Libby in some form of sick SA.

That's the real shame here, and once the Defense Team leaked, sorry, friends of the Defense Team, leaked the CS photos of Abby & Libby on the internet and included a 9 page detailed info of the CS in their Franks, SA was quickly attached to this case because it became obvious what the motive was.

This is strictly on the Accused Murderer and the Defense Team, not the Prosecution. What a shame.

In my own, personal opinion, If I’m a juror, I’m going to wonder how and why, if a SA was the motive, but RA was interrupted, he took the time to redress Abby and stage the crime scene the way it was staged. If he was interrupted, wouldn’t he have just high-tailed it out of there? This my opinion.

Someone may have been whispering in his ear but I highly doubt it was his defense team.
My Opinion Only

yes, juries are common sense driven and not fools
I don't think the jury is going to like the defense team's tactics. People will consider a presentation that persuades them, but most people recognize and reject condescension, manipulation, and malarkey.

If defense team calls victim family members, they will lose the jury's respect in an instant, imo.

They can pull 500 witnesses for all I care. It doesn’t change the fact RA did this.

He was on the bridge moments before the girls arrived, and a witness could place him there. He admits he was out there during that time frame dressed nearly identically to the killer. He also has no alibi.

The defense can lie, manipulate and twist facts until the cows come home it’s still not going to work.

In my own, personal opinion, we should wait to hear what the witnesses have to say before coming to the conclusion that he is guilty of this crime.

As always, just my humble opinion.

God bless America and the freedoms we are afforded.

Also, the defense team in the document @FrostedGlass glass shared states RA suffered from a mental illness his entire adult life and was medicated for it. <modsnip>

The Unified Command Center believed this was a sexually motivated crime from the beginning. That can easily be concluded by the fact that Libby was left completely nude.

The state in the pre trial hearings basically stated in their cross of Perlmutter that RA confessed that his intention was to sexually assault but he ended up killing Libby and Abby before he got the chance.
Two dead teenage girls left outdoors, one naked. But some people think calling that a sexually-motivated crime is too far? But they see a stick and think the Norse gods are involved.

Okay.

Moving on.

This is my own, personal opinion, but I think It will all be dependent on what has already come out, if clarifications need to be made or contradictions cleared up. The jury may actually welcome it, in my opinion.

We will have to wait and see.

As always, JMO.

They are not 'choosing' whose witness list they end up on. The grandfather's name appears to be on the defense list---but they may have subpoenaed him to testify, without him wanting to.He will be treated as a 'hostile' witness most likely.

The defense is taking a big risk calling a victim family member to the stand. I hope it backfires on them.
Oh I knew they didn’t choose! I was surprised that prosecution had called BP while defense had called MP. I worded my question really poorly but I was wondering if that’s common in a trial or not. And I was feeling really sorry for both BP and MP because it’s a horribly stressful thing already to testify and it’s probably even more stressful to be called by the defense.

In line for the second day of jury selection in the #Delphi double murder trial.
Today we expect to fill the final two alternate juror spots.
This will bring us to 16 jurors, 12 on the panel and 4 alternates.
#RichardAllen is accused of murdering Carroll County teens Abby Williams and Libby German in Feb. 2017.
