Why not? She performed 25 objective psychological tests that confirm her opinions. What is it you don’t believe and why?
edit--corrected typo in test name

I wish we could know which tests those were. When she said she performed a MCI test, she spoke as if there was one test named that...but more appropriately worded would be MCI testing and there are a whole host of tests under it that can be selected.

I also wish there was testimony as to which psychiatric organizations no longer consider "brief psychosis" to be a diagnosis. Because that definitely wasn't the opinion of the psychiatrists at the inpatient mental health ward in TWO different major Chicago teaching hospitals where my young adult son was back in September and October.

1:45 p.m. - The defense's 14th witness is Brittney Zapanta, Allen's daughter.
Defense attorney Jennifer Auger asked "Did your father ever molest you?"
Zapanta said no.
Auger asked "Do you love your father?"
Zapanta said no.
Auger asked "Would you lie for him?"
Zapanta said no.
State's attorney James Luttrell tried to ask if Allen went to the Monon High Bridge often. The defense objected, which was sustained.
Luttrell showed Zapanta and the jury photos of Allen. He asked if Allen's appearance changed before she went to college.
Zapanta said no.
Luttrell showed photos from 2014 through 2017 of Allen and asked if that's how Allen looked. Zapanta said they all looked like Allen in 2017.
The state tried to add more photos, but the defense objected and the judge sustained the objection.
The jury asked Zapanta if she visited the Monon High Bridge as a teen. She said yes.
Luttrell asked Zapanta if she had visited the Monon High Bridge with her father. She said yes.
Luttrell asked if Zapanta was scared. She said yes.

She said she didn’t love him? Hmmm

Why would she risk her reputation and career by accessing DOC files that she was not authorized to access?

Also, why would she contradict herself in her own testimony, at times claiming RA was faking his mental illness and at other TIMES agreeing that he suffered from a psychotic disorder?

I think she came across as though she had an agenda. She is interested in helping the State convict Richard Allen. JMO
The issue with her falsifying a confession is that 1) the defense has not claimed this is what happened, but is instead trying to claim that RA was suffering from psychosis so the narrative is flawed and 2) there are many aspects of the “confession” that were not known to the public in April-May 2023. It’s not simultaneously possible, for instance, that RA got his confession details from discovery and that Wala also made up the confession, knowing details that were only present in discovery.

It’s also worth noting that she was originally a defense witness and seemed to largely testify to things that would mean she was sympathetic to RA during the 3 day hearings.

yeah, her not looking at her father could be viewed a lot of differing ways. Maybe she did what she needed to do because she doesn't think he is guilty but their relationship isn't great nonetheless. Maybe they are super close in a non molesty way and she simply couldn't bear to look at him because she worried it would cause her to be or seem overly emotional.
Yes or make her start crying. I cannot fathom how tense this is for his family to have to testify.

That is why I am skeptical of today's expert witness, She is claiming that NOTHING RA said during that 3 or 4 month period is reliable. She is saying he is totally unreliable and everything he says should be disregarded.

I strongly disagree because of my 60 years of experience with a schizophrenic family member. He was not delusional and erratic 24/7. He would have 'episodes' which are clearly recognisable. But even if he had an episode one morning---if we calmed him down, made sure he took his next round of meds, and got him to eat and sleep, he could wake up and be cognisant, coherent and engaged.

Just because he spoke fearfully about the CIA wanting to kidnap him while we were eating breakfast, doesn't mean that he couldn't regroup, get himself more focused, and be able to have a calm, measured conversation by dinnertime.

I don't see any reason why the details he reportedly gave to Dr Wala were not reliable. Even if he allegedly had some frantic or disorganised phone conversations earlier that does not mean he can't regroup or recover and be more coherent later in the day. I've seen it happen that way for years.
absolutely agree with you!

At 1:43 The defense called Brittany Zapanta, Richard Allen’s daughter. Allen is reportedly nodding his head as she takes the stand. Zapanta tells the jury she moved out in 2015 for a job. She says she works in urgent care. She attended Ball State and then went to Indianapolis, she says.

Auger asks, “did your father molest you?” Zapanta says “no.” Auger asks “would you lie for him?” Zapanta says “no.” The defense finishes direct examination of her.

Well the article leaves out the question “do you love your father” what the heck. Was the question asked or not.

This is my experience as well, witnessing my father enter a 2 week period of psychosis.

Trial Judges. Bias?
Do judges take an oath not to be biased?
@MollyDDD
I have not drilled down to the specifics of IN. judicial oaths, but this from AmBarAssoc. may help re some gen guidelines for trial judges presiding over criminal cases.

"Standard 6-1.6. Duty to maintain impartiality"
"(a) The trial judge should avoid impropriety and the appearance
of impropriety in all activities, and should conduct himself or herself at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the
integrity and impartiality of the judiciary. The judge should not allow
family, social, political or other relationships to influence judicial
conduct or judgment."
Plus a few more ¶ 's following.

Maybe that’s a media misprint.
I would be stunned if defense asked her that knowing she’d say that.
If they did that, it was a HUGE mistake.

All that hard work overstepping the boundaries of decent behavior - leaving sealed crime scene photos in unlocked, unprotected rooms with untrustworthy, non-employee associates on site, drafting multi-page Franks memos with wild flights of fancy into Norse mythology come to life in the woods to endanger the children of Delphi, using "discretion" to decide which segments of RA-incarcerated video to play before the jury and selecting only the AFTER but not the BEFORE, and "resigning, no, I didn't really mean it, I"m not resigning" from the case - all that gone to waste in just one question of one of the people many would expect most motivated to see RA acquitted.

If she said that, it will be seen as RA's daughter disowning him because of what he has done.

You’re having to jump through a lot of hoops to discount the psychiatrist’s expert opinions. Your anecdotal experience with a family member does not equate to a medical doctor who viewed recordings and watch logs from every day RA was incarcerated over several months.

While it might be possible for someone in psychosis to regroup and become totally rational within the same day - we don’t know if that’s what happened or if he continued to be delusional. Hence, the confessions are not reliable because they occurred while RA had been actively psychotic. She’s not saying the confessions are true or fake - she’s saying there’s no way to know.

She has shown no support for him why would it be a typo?

Just imagine being brought up in such a toxic environment.

Moo

Good point, she hasn’t attended trial in support of him. It can’t have been a happy home life given RA’s SMIs (serious mental illnesses) as described by Dr Westcott. How did RA deal with his daughters rejection of him I wonder?

Most importantly, I sincerely hope she’s since found happiness living away from home. JMO

agree, I was thinking similarly, whatever she does is going to be sliced and diced by not only those in the courtroom but by us the public. that is lot of pressure. but in light of her reportedly answering the direct question do you love your father with a NO. Well, now I am rethinking.
