GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #216

I can only imagine, in Delphi, how everything changed in taking care of and monitoring children after this murder. No way would my kid walk to the store let alone the woods after that.
:0(
I would have invested in those little tile trackers or something of equal. I would have been that mother who constantly had that eye out. Maybe even squashing some of their independence for my perceived safety.

And how many little lives have been protected because Abby and Libby were so brave.... I don't want to think about it like that...but it is true. ❤️
We are around 2 hours away with now 10 and 11 year old girls...needless to say as a father this case struck me and really tore the vail off the perceived innocence of small town good ol boy life.

Growing up in the area you will get the cliche' "we didn't lock the doors" etc. but it's true...

When my daughters are just a little bit older, I fully intend on discussing this case with them and how something as mundane as going down to one of their favorite spots that they have visited a million times can end in disaster...

Thankfully though dad works in IT and you better believe they will be prepared...like Libby...the hero that used her resources and solved this case.

Yes, that's exactly my point. If there are loads of us out here (in my opinion) who have a problem with the evidence not being admissible, I'd bet a lot of money the jurors will have a problem with it too once the learn about it. I feel badly for them.

As always, this is my opinion.
The jury is going to have problems with the defense not having any evidence? I think they've been there, done that. Today was the day! Richard Allen was judged by that jury, guilty as charged on all counts.

That’s one cold fish:

Richard Allen showed no emotion whatsoever as the verdict was read. He later looked back at his wife & mother and said “Are you ok?” His family members cried, and his wife, Kathy, looked angry. After the verdict, Allen was led away in handcuffs with his hands behind his back.
To be fair though, he was probably told to expect a guilty verdict. I may not have been able to hold my emotions, but we're all different.

It is interesting though, and dare I say notable, that his first concern was to his wife ☹️ I am sad for his family, too.

Just not all the facts. They were presented with the evidence that inculpates him and weren't allowed to see evidence that exculpates him. If I was a juror and learned this after the fact, I'd be really upset.

As always, this is my opinion.

What exculpatory evidence are you talking about?

It’s a horrible awakening.

Here in NYC, I was married but not yet a mother when Etan Patz went missing on his way going to school alone for the first time. He was murdered. That was in 1979.

Etan was the first missing child to be depicted on a milk carton, until it was determined that he’d been killed.

Two years later, when I became a mother, this was still fresh in my mind. I did become the kind of mother who didn’t take her eyes off her child.

Of course NYC is not a small town, but I grew up here and as a child Etan’s age (he was only six) my sister and I were allowed to play outside and also walk to school, go to the movies, go to the park, etc. without our parents.

Our parents before us played outside in NYC until dark. Not only was this before cell phones but was even before most people had home phones. Therefore my grandparents had no way to contact their children—-my eventual parents. It wouldn’t have even crossed their minds back then in the 1930s.

Etan’s case changed NYC childhood, as Abby and Libby’s case will change the sense of childhood safety in small towns.

It’s crushing.

Yes he was unfortunately a ticking time bomb just waiting for a opportunity to present itself to him.

Years of sick little fantasies about his sister and god knows who else ( I mean even writing this is nauseating) and I still think Libby that day attracted him as she resembled his daughter. He likes to keep it in the family it seems.

MOO
That is not true per witness (sister and daughter) testimony, <modsnip> IMO

He openly admitted he molested his sister. Why would he make up something so sick and sinister if it wasn’t true?

He killed Abby and Libby and has been found guilty. It’s quite safe to safe he is a sick and twisted pervert who admits he wanted to rape Abby and Libby that day.

Both Abigail and Liberty are Hero's.

Libby took the video with her phone that captured their killer Richard Allen, they stuck together until the very end, and Abby protected that phone with her body.

We know that Libby has always been declared a hero and rightly so but whoever first stated that Abby protected that phone, bravo to you. What a beautiful sentiment that made me cry.

You know you are right! I do give Libby alot of credit....but, Abby did protect that phone with her body. ❤️

I’m 100 miles south, central IN around 25 minutes south of Indy. Raised in Bloomington until 9. Maternal side of family were all farmers & lived with doors unlocked as well. So I know the meaning - just part of rural/small town life in the region. Regardless, you’re doing the right thing. Awareness of situations/surroundings & if something doesn’t seem right, take action (flight, fight, etc.).

2 grown boys - they were taught to be aware of their surroundings & strangers. They sometimes despised me for saying no, but they soon got over it, especially if I addressed my reasons to them afterwards.

Excuse me but does anyone know please if Abby said to Libby, “Don’t leave me!” And if so, how do we know this and what was the context? (Sorry to be behind and needing help catching up on this incredibly horrible tragic evil case.) God bless the poor brave little girls.
It was reported on media that this is what they heard during Libby's BG video.

It was Prosecutor NMcL in his closing statement that said that about Abby <3

If you don’t mind waiting, I will see if I can dig it up for you.

"...his wife, Kathy, looked angry" I think she'll be just fine, after that anger wears off...or maybe gets redirected to a more worthy recipient. JMO
