I’m pretty sure the girls’ movements were accounted for by LGs phone via both the GPS info & step counter. That’s part of the information used to verify the timeline. It’s possible they stopped walking now & then to text, take & post pictures. It’s possible they had a creepy interaction with RA which he chose to avoid discussing.

I can’t give you a definitive reason why RA changed his timeline for that day. My only guess is he wanted it to appear as if he wasn’t involved in the murders & figured the earlier he said he left, the better even though he couldn’t have any ideas of the time unless he’d been checking his watch that day or had time stamped photos from a camera he may have had - utter speculation.

The conflicting statements he gave concerning what times he was there weren’t really major points of contention made in the PCA or the trial (that I can find or was reported). It was obvious he didn’t leave at the earlier time because his vehicle was seen on the HH camera footage of him driving towards the CPS building around 1:30. LE stuck to his original time from 2017 in the PCA & at trial & backed that up both times with the following:

• the video from HH of him going towards CPS building @ ~1:30
• eyewitness statements & times on the trails after 1:30
• the fact no one else reported seeing BG/RA on the trails or on 300N after 2:13 but before 3:30
• his car was still reported being seen at the CPS building after 2:13 by eyewitnesses
• the BG video timestamp from LGs phone
• SC seeing him at 3:30 on 300N

Yes, had his phone been available, the info might have been helpful but given what we know from above, it’s just more of the same evidence, really. LE didn’t focus on potential lies via his phone because the above is evidence he was lying.

Bigger question is: why wouldn't his mother believe him?

The call from May 17, 2023, was between Allen and his mother.

“Did Kathy tell you I did it?” Allen asked his mother.

“We’re not going to discuss this, okay?” his mother, Janis, replied. “We love you. You know that, don’t you?”

“Regardless?” Allen asked. “I’m just worried you guys aren’t going to love me because I said I did it.”

“Just saying it doesn’t mean you did it,” his mother said.

“It does when I did,” Allen replied.

“Ricky, they’re just messing with you,” she said.

“No, Mom, they’re not,” he said. “So if I said I did it, you wouldn’t love me anymore?”

“I will always love you no matter what. You can count on that,” his mother said.

Yes, he may have used his car clock to note arrival & departure times & yes, to also avoid suspicion from KA. After re-reading some articles & the PCA, I feel he simply may have moved his timeline forward to where he was claiming he was leaving the trails when he actually was arriving. He had to know or have a close estimate as to when he arrived & left. I do not doubt he was in Peru prior to the murders nor do I doubt the time he returned to Delphi. I believe there are signs of premeditation but that would have been a big leap to prove at trial given the evidence LE had.

Of note, my 3:30 times mentioned in my prior post above should have been as follows, corrections bolded on items 3 & 6:

• the video from HH of him going towards CPS building @ ~1:30
• eyewitness statements & times on the trails after 1:30
• the fact no one else reported seeing BG/RA on the trails or on 300N after 2:13 nor between 2:30 to 4:11.

i think he was trying to be clever because he knew he said he saw the girls. so he pretended he was leaving instead of arriving. makes no sense but he was already painted in to a corner on that.

it’s a perfect example of why you should never talk to law enforcement if you did a double murder because you will only dig deeper.

The 2nd paragraph made me LOL. Yeah, he definitely had a brain fart talking to anyone about it for that matter. Evidently he kept part of his inner self hidden from his wife, so that is where I’d have tried the deception. Loose lips definitely sink ships. Fortunately he was much dumber than he thought he was. Kind of amazing he was able to pull off not leaving more evidence behind at the CS, as bumbling as he seems in other facets of the crime.

Because Allen County is where JG works as a judge, maybe? Possibly did it in error out of habit, etc. & needed to instead be filed in Carroll County.

It will open up another phase for the case because the gag order will be lifted. We will hopefully get real answers about some things. Hopefully get access to LE/RA interviews and maybe Libby’s video. Maybe confession videos or transcripts.
I look forward to hearing what Libby and Abby’s families thoughts are.
We may be discussing things for quite awhile.

I’m very curious as to how much they believed or disbelieved about the defense testimony, or anything else they may choose to share.

The Waiting for sentencing has come around really quickly. Thankfully he will soon be locked away forever.

Probably wanted to scope out the parking lots prior to going onto the trails. How many cars there were indicates how many people are on the trails. JMO

He also could have seen who was on the trails while driving because the trees were bare and the trail is visible on his route to where he parked.
He most likely saw the group of girls on the trails that later identified him before he parked. IMO
