I've long felt that Abby was often overlooked in the news coverage and discussion of the crime. I was glad the prosecutor gave her a shout out for hiding the phone and helping catch her murderer. She mattered, too.
Yes! I recall a few threads back there was a lengthy and largely disturbing discussion about how the phone could have gotten underneath Abby. Some posters were using it as support for multiple killers or something. I said then I believed Abby hid the phone. Although it likely can't ever be confirmed, I was relieved to hear the belief was shared and said at the press conference.

Abby and Libby.
Two young heroes who incredibly ended up helping to solve their own murders.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget Nick McLeland’s closing argument. Honestly brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

?
I can't believe the defense had the nerve to basically request that a convicted murderer be given a lighter sentence so as to not upset his wife. Bizarre and stupid imo.
Wow.
He traded his family for an afternoon acting out a real life horror movie.
Thst is what should be upsetting her.

Yes, I agree completely. Both Abby & Libby were amazing with Libby recording the pervert and Abby hiding the phone. They were BFF's and so courageous until the very end.

I was gutted when I read Abby's mother saying the last words she'll ever hear spoken by Abby was from Libby's video saying to her "Don't leave me here" while she was still on the end of the bridge, and Libby didn't. Hearing the families being able to speak out finally really drives home that this was a case of the senseless, brutal murders of Abby & Libby, not about that cruel, evil, weak, and small little man.

They were seemingly quite defiant to the very end, like a couple of spoiled, entitled, pouting brats, constantly thumbing their nose to the court. The attorneys made everything overly personal when it wasn’t necessary & it seemed quite disingenuous as a whole. RA made his choice regarding them so let him reap what they’ve sewn.

so pleased the family and law enforcement called out the disgraceful conduct of the defence team and surrogates.

My opinion.
I believe DC stated he was going to check criminal codes regarding the spread/possession/storage of the leaked data/materials. I pray he follows through & something is done at some point. Not out of spite (OK, well, maybe just a bit) but in hopes of preventing this type of approach from occurring again in the future.

I just spent the morning reading the victim impact statements that were read in court. My heart is hurting so much for those families. I'm glad the gag order has been lifted. I'm glad we get to hear how the families of the girls feel and I'm so glad that Richard Allen had to hear what he has done to the families.
Libby and Abby should be here. They should be living their life. And it is so heartbreaking they are not.
I'm pleased that all the family members addressed the photo leaks and the callousness of the defence team. They need to know how their actions have impacted people. Their disregard for their actions and their inability to apologise for the leak. To see the girls as anything other than evidence. It's just disgusting and I hope the families are able to sue them both.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew Abby and Libby. I hope they feel some form of justice has been served.

As for Richard Allen, I hope we never have to hear, read or see his name again. He deserves to be forgotten.

The appearance of that 'investigator' on Court TV spouting wild conspiracies and even getting the date of Ferency's death incorrect makes me wonder about exactly what kind of 'investigatons' the D was doing.

It's all very strange isn't it. The D produced zero evidence about Odinist prison guards in the pretrial phase - it was just a wild allegation in Franks. Now someone claiming to be from the defence team says Ferency was murdered by an Odinist prison guard mere days after he turned in his odin report. There is no evidence of any of this. And Judge Gull can hardly be blamed for wild claims the defence never made in the 3 day hearing.

Was the strategy simply to fan these conspiracies on social media?

Very odd

Jerry Holeman has done an interview with The Murder Sheet for anyone interested in listening.

I'm not too far into it yet but one thing Holeman said that struck me was that they received over 14,000 tips for Abby and Libby's case and while most of them obviously did not turn out to be relevant for A&L, LE were able to make arrests for many other crimes through running down the tips.
One specifically that he mentioned was a tip they had gotten about a man who turned out to be involved with an unsolved murder that had gone cold and was subsequently arrested for it. So that's yet another killer (not to mention KAK & co) put behind bars thanks to Abigail and Liberty.

Your guess is as good as mine, Mr. J.

I don’t understand how they’re supposed to be definitively linked or what the endgame is by using tabloid tactics. Public opinion doesn’t really directly impact judicial decisions. Sure, it draws public attention to it & maybe draws interest from defenders of the innocent who actually know what they’re doing but that can all be done without the crazy weaving of tales of a dark order lurking in small town IN.

Bottom line, as of right now, they lost. They chose wrong. They had some success in the public eye but it didn’t sway the opinions where it mattered most, inside the courtroom. The really sad part of it is that it’s just really, really disrespectful towards the victims - 2 babies - been on this planet for just over a decade & then just ripped away because little Ricky couldn’t contain himself. Worse that their families may have to listen to that sort of garbage. There’s a way to handle these sorts of things & this is NOT it.

I suspect now that there is no more jury to influence, and no more gag order, people will chase engagement. But I am more curious about what this persons work for the D actually was.

It's very odd to me that conspiracists keep turning up on their team.

it hardly speaks well of them that a team member is making a false claim that Ferency was murdered by Odinists AND gets critical facts about that claim wrong. What kind of shabby operation was this?

utterly disgusting
Baldwin sitting there cuddling and coddling RA in court like a mother and her small child.
Unbelievable, sickening and damn maddening.

I suspect the jury where as sickened by it as we were.
A really stupid game plan.
Which at the end of the day we can be grateful for.

You have your choice of operations: 3 ring circus or throwing sloppy food against the wall & observing what sticks.

JG should have taken the time to give her opinions of them just after giving RA the what for but I imagine that wouldn’t have been ethical or wise in the long run. Would have been nice to read about though.

Will be interesting to find out if they’re still buddy buddy with him in 5-10 years.

Baldwin was mentored by Auger’s father, who was a highly respected defense attorney here where I live. I’m sure the mentor is rolling over in his grave about now considering the depths to which he has sunk in this case.

Find some comfort in knowing RA is sitting up at Plainfield right now, waiting to find out what hole he’s going to be shipped off to next - which animals with which he’ll be spending his remaining worthless years.

From what I have seen with a few other pro killer popularity cases getting around atm. I think the defence is hopeful of swaying public opinion AND infiltrating the jury pool.
ITS DIRTY and its gaining acceptance these below the belt tactics.

Hearts my heart.
Netflix and groups like The innocence project and the like have created a anti police and anti justice brigade that have triggered and tricked good people everywhere into a mentality of everyone who is good is actually bad... and everyone who is bad... is well....not so bad.
its part of a societal change that hopefully is slowly moving its way out.

Jurys have been concise and common sense has prevailed alot this year.
